I worked as cabin crew 1991 and loved the special service we provided to our passengers. We set the bar high. As female cabin crew, woe betide if you were wearing the wrong shade of red lipstick or had scraggly hair sticking out of your sleek ponytail - grooming discrepancy given! I remember flying with you, Lee. Great memories.
I just found the menu card from 1988 out of Manchester to Malaga, around May it was Bucks fizz and English breakfast with croissants and jam. On the return from Malaga to Manchester, Smoked salmon pinwheel to start then Steak and mushroom cobbler, Parisienne potatoes, peas and sweetcorn, Trifle, Ferrero Rocher, bread Roll, Tea and coffee. My God can you imagine that today They were so ahead of their time. They even had hot towels. All this on a charter flight was amazing. The Captain also allowed me to sit in the flight deck landing into Malaga. We always flew Air 2000 after that to Orlando in May 1989 (think first flight to Orlando on May 5th 1989 via Bangor. Then to Crete 1990, Rhodes 1992 and Larnaca 1992.
They were very innovative at the start and I remember the surprise one June morning in 1988 flying to Malaga saying “oh wow a 757 “ and no more Dan Air 1.11. Then to the surprise of my parents the on board service included free bucks fizz, hot towels and a menu card with outstanding food. Flew to Orlando with them the following year and they had metal cutlery and a fancy napkin clip with real red napkins. We stole the napkin clips that were Air 2000 branded. But they kind of went downhill and became a regular charter before being taken over
The glamour has gone because the passenger has dropped their standards of behaviour on board the aircraft, and therefore can only be communicated to with similar actions. As a member of cabin crew for 30 years I can only say that as a passenger you have got what you deserve. If you want good service and respect then act like you deserve it, don't be rude don't act like you own the aircraft and don't trash it, remember you are not the only person on it
Raymond Ttompson What a load of rubbish. The glamour has gone because of the likes of Michael O’Leary and the bean counters. It’s a race to the lowest common denominator now in aviation, such a shame.
Yes they were a fabulous airline, maybe someone can revive them,. I’m sure there’s a passenger market for such service again out of the UK. Free bucks fizz and menu cards, my gosh.....
best airline I flew with. The Pilots would keep you informed which really helps nervous flyers and when returning on many flights with air 2000 I would ask who is the pilot. Many times the same one in the early days and the crew staff would love the fact you remember the names of pilots. And would often inform the flight deck that at least one happy passenger was on board lol. Nearlly 20 years later if I forget the pilots names for Crete. But I know on another airline if I heard the voice of the captin and name I would remember. Thanks air 2000 for flying me safe. I dont travel well now in the air too well now with others

sorely missed. best airline i have ever flown with. best breakfasts ever by the way. the glamour and personal service has gone from airlines now.

Newcastle to Orlando 1992ish But in 1994 I flew air leisure from Glasgow to Orlando was this the same or a related airline ?
Shame they got stolen by Tui, although I admit the Starlet First Choice livery was awful!
