Surprisingly, Wolfenstein 2 New Colossus was set somewhere in 1960s with alternate history of Nazi reigns. How could they came out with this kinda arcade game at that time?
The Internet was at its root tech developed for Department of Defense. GPS, cryptography or even earlier the Turing's machine - all of them are examples of how military oriented applications push the frontier of tech in the most efficient manner. Thus, the Nazis being a militant state would inevitably reach early technology milestones earlier than our current civilization, right? The only thing that could hinder their progress is the absence of an enemy who would enact the pressure required to keep developing. However, propaganda and Hitler's paranoia could have been sufficient to keep them advancing. As a person who played the original Wolfenstein 3d as a 4 yo boy, I have to say, including this easter egg in the new game was a sign of true appreciation and respect for fans of the series. Kudos to the devs :)
Wolfstone is just like the bfg edition of doom classic games, eliminate all ofensive or copyrighted things/music and screw up the gameplay of the games
The "offensive" things in classic Doom were eliminated a VERY long time ago. Swastika shaped Doom rooms/map lines were altered within a year of release.
@@johnroscoe2406 You're right. Swastika-shaped room was eliminated from Doom. But that was more or less it. Here however, much, much more than a single room design was altered. All Doom got was just a tiny scratch. Here, Wolfenstein 3D got neutered and completely eviscerated.
@@michaelm1 ok 2 things: 1. Classic Doom had practically nothing "offensive" to censor, and it was YEARS until the Doom 2 secret levels were altered (Nazis and hanged Commander Keens). 2. "Wolfstone" is a game within a game; it is not our Wolf3D and the enemy is the Resistance. It wouldn't make sense to have Nazi stuff in Resistance bases.

And the hellish motives were offensive to religious people. Some would even describe Doom as satanic. So I wouldn't say that there was nothing offensive to censor. I still remember the criticisms, though fortunately nothing significant came out of them, unlike the censorship of Wolfenstein 3D in Germany for example. And to be frank, I hate the green cross on medkits. I'd much more prefer a different shape but with red color kept. Drives me crazy. Oh, sorry for the rant. I just hate censorship to be honest.
