Swimming in the Air | The Wall House

Located on the edge of the Oitavos Dunes golf course, near Cascais, in the Sintra-Cascais National Park, The Wall House is indescribable. You look at it, and you like it… The house is defined by its lines, cuts, and essential walls. Apparently simple, basic. Minimalists, some would say, 'engaging' with the natural elements of the surrounding landscape, others would affirm.
A home open to the outside, where glass walls and surfaces give it light and transparency, but where movable wooden panels provide the utmost privacy and protection against the strong Atlantic wind.
One element gains importance throughout the project: water. The pools are more than just pools, the large glass panels are more than just glass, they are living and translucent elements of its 'skin'.
This residence combines minimalism and elegance with a Mediterranean culture adapted to the Atlantic coast. The two pools intersect in the patio, one on the ground and the other suspended in the air, creating an impressive sight.
With a glass wall that opens to the golf course, the house allows the golf course view to be enjoyed from both the interior and exterior.
With its innovative architecture and well-integrated interior and exterior spaces, the Wall House is a true contemporary masterpiece, offering an unparalleled residential experience.

Is concrete longer lasting and low maintenance, and durable? Asking because I am trying to decide what materials to use on a house I am planning.

Wow, much more long-lasting! It won't require future maintenance because it naturally finishes itself. Unlike plaster, which will always need repainting in the future. Concrete, on the other hand, maintains the same appearance over time; it's always there as it has always been... However, it requires much more meticulous execution. You'll need experienced professionals to specify the correct use of additives in the concrete mix to make it waterproof, as well as careful execution to ensure satisfactory results with formwork marks. Otherwise, upon removing the forms, you may have an unpleasant surprise that could be irreversible.

@@williamj.dovejr.8613 The finish won't determine the reinforcement (steel) used. The reinforcement is determined by the load (weight) and spans for beams and slabs. What I mean is that whether you make a reinforced concrete beam or slab, whether it's coated or not, it won't make a difference in the steel used. In the case of walls, if you make a reinforced concrete wall and plaster it, the steel is the same. Unless the wall is made of bricks, blocks, or another material, then it will change completely because it doesn't use the same steel as in a reinforced concrete wall.
