    They will be making their glyph API public. In their recent video, Carl pei kind of agreed to that. Mostly wanted to check what developers experiment more with that. In that case, I am expecting different apps will have full control on how they want to use patterns with LEDs. Mostly it can set new examples in the field of HCI (Human Computer Interaction). Lighting pattern can be more emotional when they may release next versions of phones. For example,
    • Irregular heart beat spikes on android watches can evoke dedicated pattern on phone (2) with red color to alert more to the users.
    • Uber app customers can use those lights to project signals(blinking) like: "Wait! I am here". Or light patterns maintaining the track of your ride.
    • Meditation apps can calm you with different light patterns
    • Music app using patterns to replicate music bars
    And many more of such examples. I see absolutely dozens of awesome possibilities.

    I'm watching this right now on the Phone (1) and I like it a lot. Obviously the software still feels like the first OS from a startup would feel like, but it's not lacking in performance. Ofc not the gaming in ultra over 60fps but the clean, close to pure Android is totally smooth.
    If you like the pixel experience with a little special design (inspired by Apple) and EXPECT the stuff you get from a $500 phone then you'd probably be happy with it.

    • @arpithratnaraj
      @arpithratnaraj ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Are you experiencing any issues such as green tint on the display? And apart from the 'cool factor' of it, how useful do you find the glyph lights in day to day life?

    • @antonhilbig795
      @antonhilbig795 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@arpithratnaraj hey, when I booted the phone the screen color did feel a little off, but I just adjusted the blue light to be max and now it looks normal. I can tell you though that the viewing angles on the display are the best I've ever seen. I mean screens today are mostly made all by Samsung so any new phones probably all have those viewing angles but the display doesn't feel cheap. And the glyph thing definitely is more of a gimmick, but I hope they add the feature for a button to just turn on the glyphs, because I find it very useful as a nightlight that's not blinding me like the normal flashlight. Right now I use it as a nightlight by turning on the camera and using it as a fill light. Otherwise using the glyphs as the charging bar indicator is pretty neat too, because I also found out it blinks shortly for every percent it charges. And it charged pretty quickly. It charged like 15% in 7min while I was watching TH-cam in bed. And it was cool to see that in the back in blinked when it went a percent up.

    • @antonhilbig795
      @antonhilbig795 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@arpithratnaraj although now that you mentioned it I went back to my Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro and compared some apps on both screens and the one from the Phone (1) does seem a little more greyish or something... Idk it doesn't seem quite as vibrant. It's not a real green tint issue I believe, but more of a color grading thing. I hope they can adjust it with some software. it's probably the difference between the AMOLED screen on the Xiaomi and the pure OLED on the Nothing Phone. But the screen is like 10bit HDR so I think it should technically be capable. Let's see if they can adjust it with software updates

    According to me Nothing struck the perfect balance, they made it look different and premium but compromised on the chipset, which is not bad cuz the 778G+ is more than enough for what most ppl do on a phone unless u game on it. So overall the Nothing Phone (1) is a very good phone and all this ‘SOMETHING’ by D-brand is bullsh*t and can’t get even close to the look of the Nothing Phone (1) with those gorgeous glyph interface
