A solo trip for me is going on rides that I typically wouldn't ride with kids or other adults. Taking my time & people watching. Just enjoying the ability to make decisions without having to consult others.
It may take them a long time to change that ride. ESPECIALLY with all the $$$ they have lost and the cast members and Imaginers they had to fire due to Covid. This I feel anyway won’t be a priority . There $$$ is going to go into attractions that are already being built to finish them and restore their surplus. Now will they change that ride yes probably in the future..... but I don’t see it anytime soon since it’s not a top priority. Just my opinion.
My favorite mountain is Splash! It's my favorite of all the rides at Disney. I love solo days in the parks! I've vacationed in Disneyland by myself twice. I know going on vacation alone sounds strange to some people, but I've had such a good time doing it. I'm very introverted, so it works for me. I get to explore the parks at my own pace, on my own time. No one to please but myself. It's wonderful!
It’s Joe’s all-time favorite, too! It really is nice to spend some quality, stress-free time by yourself every so often. Hope you get to do it again reel soon!!!
@@SeeYaReelSoon I hope so too! Thanks for your reply. Made my day! I'm one of 32,00 cast members to recently lose their jobs. Your videos, both here and on Ashley's channel, have made my heart feel a little lighter. So thanks!
Vicarious Grandpa here - thanks to Joe and to all the rest of you folks for your ideas and inputs about solo Disney vacations! I always enjoyed Disney vacations with the family, but now that I'm a widower who's older than dirt and the kids are now getting old as well, I'm running out of people to travel with. Once the virus dies down (or gets vaccinated away) I think I'll visit my friendly travel agent to get more ideas!
I was by myself for 4 days visiting the 4 parks and it was very pleasant. I took pictures of the architecture, gardens and plants. I enjoyed coffee seating on a nice spot while watching people. I went to relaxing rides. I didn't go shopping but I went to stores to enjoy looking at the wonderful merchandise available and I took lots of pictures of emblematic Disney. I had a glass of wine with lunch every day. Meeting with my husband around 6:00pm at the hotel we stayed in was also very pleasant and we chatted about his job and my free time.
Whenever I have time to myself in Disney it's easier for me to disconnect from reality and really get engrossed in all the little details and of course those music loops. It is so peaceful. Also I was fortunate enough to meet you guys on the day that this vlog is from and I was nerding out so hard that I feel like I never properly thanked y'all. Cheers from Matt and Mom, stay healthy, and thank you so much for the selfies & the opportunity to introduce myself to you all. Loving the amount of content coming out of this trip while it was still going on too btw
I did an afternoon solo in the magic Kingdom when I was in Orlando for a conference. I love sharing Disney memories with others, but my solo day was incredible. I loved being able to make my own schedule and decide which rides I wanted to do and lines I wanted to wait in. I did lots of photo pass pictures and (pre-COVID) interacted with several characters. I enjoyed meeting other guests in line and talking to cast members in the shops. My favorite mountain is big thunder. I'm really excited for the new theming of splash mountain.
I'm going to miss Splash Mountain so much! It's a family favorite but loved most by my Mom. After she and Dad retired they wintered in their RV in Clermont and popped over to WDW whenever the mood hit. One evening no one was in line for splash because it was chilly so they bought ponchos and went on so many times in a row they lost count 🤣. Thanks for all the good audio from the ride, it hit me in the heart.
I try to take my time and take it easy on my solo trips. As much as I could around fast passes. I also enjoyed going on my favorite rides multiple times that I normally wouldn’t get to do with others. Oh and I’d see Happily Ever After as many times that I could.
My favorite ride in all of Magic Kingdom is Big Thunder Mountain but Splash is a very close second. I’d love a solo day at the parks, hopefully one day. We live in NH too and cannot wait til our next family trip in June. We got married at Disney World on the Boardwalk at the gazebo, with our reception in Epcot. It was in late February just weeks before the shutdown with 46 of our friends/family, we were so fortunate with our timing.
I've done 4 solo trips to WDW (motivated by YOUR vids, actually) You're on your own schedule and not bogged down by the needs of others. You have time to sit and people watch. You can actually enjoy the sights, the sounds and the smells of everything the park has to offer.
I LOVE my solo trips. I’ve done 4 solo trips to WDW from the U.K. since 2016 (and double digits solo trips to Disneyland Paris) going with friends is super fun, but being able to be totally selfish on a solo trip is the best ever. I vlog, so it always feels like I have someone to talk to (like you said coming off BTM), although I do make friends in line (in WDW - people in Paris would think you were nuts if you randomly started making small talk) I played heads up with one family in line for Everest once. That was fun.
Hey Joe (and Fam!) You asked about what you do in the parks to keep it special? I am an AVID soloist, and I love doing two specific things to keep it special. I will bring my sketchbook and practice mini sketches, and journal, and write about what I see. Or, I simply go find a park bench and sit. Weird, and maybe counterintuitive? But I LOVE it! People watching in the parks is incredible. You see magic happen, you observe, you simply watch the magic happening for others! Hope this helps!
Never thought when we left Disney in February it would be the last vacation day I took. Luckily we get to carry over unused time. Next vacation January 30th in Disney......Hopefully.
Favorite mountain is Splash, then Big Thunder, and a distant third is Space. When I have a bit of downtime during my solo trips, I'll catch up on some PoGO, or capture some Munzees to build my score up.
I love people watching and pin trading on my solo trips. Splash is my favourite mountain and I am so sad it is going away. I am going to try and ride it at least twice on my next solo trip in case I don’t get back before it closes since no date has been announced.
Solo trip for me, easy stuff. Train around the park, people mover, Universe of Energy, lots of coffee/drink/read breaks. Always have my book with me. Probably 75% relaxing, people watching, and 25% attractions.
I saved all my personal and vacation days too! When I’m solo at Disney, I have some longer than normal conversations with the cast members. Splash has been our favorite💦 We love the Astro Orbiter!
I spent 11 days solo at Disney World in 2018. I took advantage of rides with solo rider available .. I rode test track 7 times in a row. Not sure if that's a thing these days though
Kudos to you Joe for taking in the sites, solo! It's a nice "mental reset", I'm sure! I need some advice please. Our family will be visiting DW next week and we're staying at the TreeHouse Villas. We are DVC members and try to stay up on the happenings and changes. Having said this, we will be doing the Skyliner for the first time and aren't familiar with it. How would a group go about using the Skyliner to "go" to Epcot and return back from there? Can any resort guest access the Skyliner at the Caribbean Beach (hub)? Thank you to you both, in advance for the help or advice! Love the family videos! Does Dennis ever NOT smile?! 😄
I love all the mountains, but I'd say my favorite at Walt Disney World is Mt. Everest! In the Magic Kingdom, it's probably Splash, Space, then Thunder :)
“The Liberty Bell looks a bit different these days.” 😂🤣😂 My favorite mountain is Splash Mountain. I can’t wait to see what they do with the new theming.
JOE I know you said about trying to save money so this might not be the best option, but being a huge Disney fan like you I really enjoyed the Keys to the Kingdom tour around the park. Obviously with the times we're in I'm not sure if they're still doing said tour but going backstage hearing inside aspects of the Park/Company and obviously seeing the Utilidoors was pretty awesome. And of course it would be something you couldn't do with the kids being there.

Youre very lucky youre able to go to a Disney theme park :(
Sounds like a great time!
Love just soaking in sounds & smells at my own pace.
I like how you post wait time & actual time.
I’m with ya Joe...Splash #1, Big Thunder #2. I am going to miss Splash Mountain so so much😢
I’m gonna miss this splash mountain too !! Favorite ride in the park !!

You crack me up Joe “the castle’s photobombing me!”
Love Thunder Mountain. Last visit we did day time as well as night time. Two rides in one.

I'm really excited for the new theming of splash mountain.
That sounds like the perfect day! We definitely miss the character interactions. Big Thunder is Lee’s favorite!
I’m going to miss Splash Mountain too.

All very true! So happy you’ve been able to enjoy some of that solo-time at the parks!
Thunder mountain all the way. You can go at your own pace and do what ever you feel like when you are alone..
My happy place is sitting in my hammock chair by the pool with a good book. I’m already missing summer 😭
We put out a hammock for the first time this year and it became our happy place, too!

This sounds so relaxing and probably the exact opposite to Joe’s solo touring plans. You’re definitely more in line with Ashley’s ideal day. ☺️
I don't have alone time often but I shop & talk to people.
I saved all my personal and vacation days too!
When I’m solo at Disney, I have some longer than normal conversations with the cast members. Splash has been our favorite💦
We love the Astro Orbiter!
I think I would normally do that as well but with COVID I feel like I’m going to make people uncomfortable by trying to engage!

Great job Joey on your solo day vlog at the Kingdom. :)
I did one solo trip, I ran around and did as much as possible in 2 days! I tried to soak in as much as I could and didn’t talk to that many people
Definitely Joe’s style! That’s the beauty of solo trips - you do you!!
Haha I always get nervous and put my hands down for that part of BTMR too 😂 tall people problems.
I love all the mountains, but I'd say my favorite at Walt Disney World is Mt. Everest! In the Magic Kingdom, it's probably Splash, Space, then Thunder :)
Oh I love this so much!
Love YOU so much!

My favorite mountain is Splash Mountain. I can’t wait to see what they do with the new theming.
Yes, we’re excited and hopeful, too! Our only concern is that we recently heard it was being “fast-tracked” - we hope that doesn’t affect the quality!
@@SeeYaReelSoon I agree. It will be so disappointing if Tiana gets short changed because they feel the need to rush the project.

We loved Keys to the Kingdom when we did it back in 2009 or 2010! Once they resume tours, we would recommend it to anyone!
My favorite mountain is big thunder or space but Space hurts now that I'm older.
I think Space starts to hurt once you hit your mid twenties. Way earlier than it should!! Lots of jerking around.
Where’s your packed lunch Joe? Hope you had fun!
This was somewhat of a last minute decision solo trip, so he got to treat himself!! ☺️
@@SeeYaReelSoon gotcha, always good to treat yourself 😊
Haha! I was looking for an alligator!!
Sorry Joe’s dad joke tricked you! 😆
I meant you guys on Nov 28th at the magic kingdom! It was so nice to meet you guys! You’re too sweet!!!
**met
It was nice to meet you as well!! Thanks for saying hi :)
Space or splash
Thunder, Splash, NOT space Mountain!
Haha I think Space is going to be a consensus #3!
Exactly the same for me. Haven’t been on Space Mountain since 1989.
Sounds like you’ve come with a t-shirt idea, Kevin! 🤣
