I am glad you showed the original footage of the choreography. I don’t think many people know that the reason it feels authentic in the film is because there were dancers that modeled the dance and movement’s. It feels magical, because the animators did there best to depict the hula correctly. :) It’s one of my favorite animated dance scenes, because of that effort!
Without a doubt it is some of the best animation in a modern Disney film, mostly because the animators were told to draw exactly what they saw. A tilt of the head, a certain arm movement, the way how their bodies shift. All of it was precisely depicted, and the opening of the film shines for it.
@@BrightWulph I miss hand drawn animation for that exact reason. It’s the small things that animators catch and include that make it extremely special.

That's a hip twist, very common in Tunisian dance. As a generalisation regarding Hula dance the hips are an accompaniment to the main part which is using the arms and hands to express the mele (song). The Kaiko style which could be said to be the most "authentic" hula does not really use hips at all. I accidentally clicked in this video. But I don’t regret watching it! 😁
Being totally ignorant about this wonderful dance, I believe it all holds up on the coordination between the hips and the arms, to make the movements as fluent and harmonious as possible. And I truly think you perfectly nailed it. It was a pleasure watching this reconstruction of yours 💚
Best dance Performance that i found on youtube
Incredibly beautiful!!! My soul felt so happy watching it! Thank you for sharing the dance with the world. 💗🙏
I have watched soo many tutorials just to see the 2:06 part. Tahnkk youuuuuuu ❤️
Красивые ручки, плавные движения-очень здорово!)) Прекрасный танец-легкий и радостный))
Thats so pretty, it looks like the wind and the tree behind are dancing with you 🥰
Loved this… my family’s Hawaiian :) my grandmother just passed and we use to watch this movie together growing up. Thank you for sharing. Was beautiful.
My eyes going ➡️↖️➡️↖️➡️↖️
omg same lol XD
This beautiful dance made me smile through the whole video because it's sooo wonderful to watch. Amazing, thank you so much 🌺🥰
your moves are just on point!!!!!!
This was so beautiful
They are developing a live action lilo and stich movie. I really hope they will keep this dancing scene and make it as mesmerising and gorgeous as this
That's how you make a willow tree look fabulous
I can't stop rewinding to the 2 minute mark to keep watching that move 😳 I mean wow. The footwork and here eyes. I can't watch both at the same time and I have to rewind and focus on her eyes or her footwork again. I feel like I might capture something new every time and every time it is like I'm watching it again. That is an amazing display of pose, skill and talent, great job 👏
Que lindo!! Incrível e belo. Parabéns ^^ 🇧🇷
UGH I LOVE THIS. Thank you for taking the time to learn the dance and appreciate my culture.
I went to Aulani for a staycation, music from lilo and stitch was playing and had some haoles making fun of the hula dance. Laughing while doing it. This video made up for it.
I always wanted to see the whole Hawaiian dance from Lilo and Stitch and I will say
She does a wonderful job at it
seeing her smile throughout the dance is so beautiful
This is my first time watching someone dance this and you literally made me cry
I love it❤️😭
Thank you for this. Very captivating performance, mostly because it's evident how much fun you're having with it. Well done!
This is beautiful. Your aura is shining Amy, it made me really cheery watching your dance, gave me the best lively, yet calm vibrations. Music can surely heal, but even more, if you become one with music. ❤️ Thank you for this composition, I will try it myself too! Can you just tell me please, in case you know, what does the last line means?
Aww, thank you for the compliments!
And, yes! The last line, "He Inoa No Kalani Kalakaua - kulele!" translates to "In the heavenly name of Kalakaua - cast forth!" Kalakaua was the last king of Hawai'i, and his sister, Liliʻuokalani, was the last queen (and the last monarch) of Hawaii.
@@SakuraKiss146 Oh wow! This is truly wonderful, what a heritage within this melody! Deeply touched my soul. Thank you so much for your reply, I'm wishing you all the best❤️^^
10/10 for research.
9/10 for skill and effort.

2:06 I dunno why most of the other interpretation of this dance remove this part in their routine.
It's on the movie and it was a beautiful part of it.
The best one who did the dance. It was very enjoyable to watch
