Bill Bellamy described a haunting memory from the night iconic rapper Biggie Smalls was tragically killed in Los Angeles. Bellamy spoke vividly about the shocking realization that the escalating animosity in the hip-hop community, sparked in part by venomous tracks like 'Hit 'Em Up,' would have deadly consequences. Bellamy was supposed to attend the Soul Train party where Biggie was present but was delayed. Upon arriving, he witnessed Da Brat in tears, unable to comprehend the violence that had just unfolded. Bellamy also reflected on the profound impact of losing both Tupac and Biggie within a year. He emphasized how their deaths left an indelible mark on hip-hop, a loss from which the genre has never fully recovered.
Meet Bill Bellamy back in 1996, I was working at Tower Records in New Orleans during The Essence Festival. He was buying some new CDs and I said "Bill you work for MTV, don't you get any promos"? Bill said " I want to support the artists". Bill is one cool down to earth dude.
I miss that Tower Records, the Virgin Megastore too.

i used to go to Tower Records in Manhatten it was a glass building. it had alot of floors in that building.
@@TheHouseru I smoked weed with Redman at Black Biker Week in Myrtle Beach back in '97.

6:32 😂 the quickest “yeah I know” that Vlad has ever given. Really had to let it be known that HE KNOWS already
caught that too
You caught that too,.
Vlad is a 2Pac historian
Vlad wishes he knew Tupac 😂
He already fantasize bout pac in his sweetwetdreams😂
So do I.
That’s such an obvious statement I’m not sure what you find funny about it? You think he’s the only one?
He was actually about to do an interview but he wanted cash up front 😂
I thin every rap fan does too 🤦🏿♂️
Bill Bellamy doesn't try to be funny at all... He just IS FUNNY! He embodies it.
Bill has so many celebrity stories, very detailed and hilarious in every description. He has a gift
No exaggeration on the descriptive feeling when Hit’em up came out. Sent chills down your spine on the first time hearing it. You knew this isn’t going to end well.
I also knew somebody was going to die first time I heard hit’em up
I didn't really think that. I just thought it was another rap beef. Now when Pac got deleted and Biggie decided to take a trip out to LA, I knew that couldn't be good. Those deaths and Eazy E contracting the monster were probably the two biggest earth shattering moments in hip hop during the '90s that was made people pause.
4 what it caused I hate that record. It was so angry
You right because the times were different. Go back to that time period in thoughts and remember all dis tracks b4 that and how he shattered the mold on all them because of the venom and yelling and deciet he had for Biggie and BadBoy was raging! I fucked your wife, fuck Biggie Fuck Bad Boy as staff, Biggie smalls just got shot, hit em in his back..Mark ass bitches...Cut ya young ass up..15 shots...All things said was talking about bloody murder so couldn't help but to feel that this beef was going to end in someone getting killed..It was the times.
He speaks with great intensity when he speaks of his memories of that time.
He’s a great storyteller. It feels like you’re there.
@@RonJP-pm7jp so true!💯
The senseless murders of 2pac & Biggie will always be the darkest moments in hip hop history- they were true icons RIP

Absolutely
always the darkest moments

Did Vlad just compare Tupac n biggie to Drake and Kendrick? Ok I'm done I'm out 😮😅😅
Apples and bowling balls my friend
Well someone did get sh0t at during this new feud..
In terms of popularity. Stop being slow on purpose. I can't stand people like you.
The only thing missing is kendrick getting litup in the same fashion as pac 😂
Unsubbed
Bill is holding back tears
Stg 😢
Yes he is
💯
Hear it n his voice
bill look like he been frozen since 1999
Not the hair😂😂
He looks good 4 his age but u can tell he's getting older, knock it off
@@MARYSSON22Bill Bellamy is 59 and about to be 60. He looks great!
@franklin8618 Yup!! I'm 48 about 2 be 49 and still look good as well!! Black don't crack 😉
He comes from the Era where it's just alize crystal and weed real weed not the government military weed that has everyone violent or rainbow repping and depleted of all ambition...no Molly (meth) etc..maybe cocaine but not today's fentanyl mix up
Vlad I love you for this, asking guests about their Tupac experiences.
The only time he’ll shut up!
Stop meat holding
Vlad just trying to solve the crime.
PAC was beyond angry when he recorded ‘Hit ‘em up’ he was enraged (and rightfully so - that’s what betrayal does to you!) That track was lethal!!! The anger in his voice alone was insane!
Rest in peace to such an angel!
Unfortunately Biggie was a casualty of war 🤷🏾♀️

it should been directed at puff, it was his guys who shot pac the first time
@@knightsofgbs9524and, more like it should have been directed at jimmy which he didn’t address him until years later. Pac was just in his feelings
@@brishawn8571 jimmy was pacs right hand man. I believe puff called the shots and jimmy knew some guys who could carry it out.
@@knightsofgbs9524 I might have been thinking of jack. One or both set up pac at quad. Either way, pac was targeting the wrong individual (big) instead of calling out the real people who done it which by then, it was too late. The damage was done between two friends
@@brishawn8571 absolutely big had nothing to do with it and also puffy was ripping big off. They were not cool before he died.
Yep, Bill was in Give to you video with BIG.Had no idea Pac was at that video shoot because they didn't show him.
If im not mistaken that video came out after the Quad Studio incident with Pac.
People don't understand how crazy all that was in that short time frame ............
DJ Vlad:Blunts
Bill Bellamy-Spliffs lmao
You can tell Bill don't smoke at all 😂
@@FullyAutomaticAddict410 Bill is from the East Coast where there's plenty Jamaicans. Maybe he heard that word a lot.
Paging vs. Texting
The slang term "spliff" was used in the east coast mainly NYC whereas in PA we say "L" as in roll that L up lol
I have heard people make the distinction between a spliff and a blunt. I think some people call joints spliffs. On Staten Island, they say bones.
I can’t believe bill hasn’t used the word “bananas” yet in this entire interview
More clips to come. Stay tuned
1 of the best interviews I’ve seen in a while
Vlad will probably ask Bill next to describe the Jamie Foxx vs LL Cool J "Any Given Sunday" fight 😂
As well he should. It's a GREAT story !
That’s coming lol 😂
He remembers 2Pac and Biggie from when they were friends.
That tells you he's been around
Also tells you that the whole situation with them should've never happened
First time I heard hit em up I knew somebody was gonna die pac was so disrespectful on that song 😂😂😂
Honestly... Dude threw all caution to the wind, like he tied his life to a tree.
Along with the VIBE cover and the behind the scenes of California Love
First time I heard it I was in Winston-salem NC staying with my aunt for the summer and that joint came on the 📻 no cap
LOL that song was all Venom 😂
I wasn’t old enough to figure that out but I just remember the song having a dark demonic feel to it unlike any other rap I had heard up until that point. I remember my dad buying the CD and playing it on our stereo. He honestly might’ve listened to it 2 or 3 times that day. My parents had a pretty nice CD collection but I just know that I never heard my dad listen to Hit ‘Em Up again because although Tupac was a popular artist, he hated gangster rap music with a passion because he had young black sons. We could listen to their CD as much as we wanted we just couldn’t scratch them. But I remember Tupac’s & Little Kim’s music being off limits. Hit ‘Em Up was a pivotal moment in hip hop where it began making a turn for the worst.
he is a GREAT guest. Wonderful story teller.
THAT ERA OF HIP HOP COULD NEVER BE DUPLICATED , 💯
Vlad: “cause I wasn’t in the music industry…yet”. Dude is funny. You in the music industry huh? Ok homie
I always get emotional whenever i see Biggie and 2pacs story of what led up to their passing. I can't help but think about how it all went left.
Damn so Brats “give it to u” dropped in October 94……quad studio shooting was in Nov 94……..a difference of a month changed hip hop forever…..sad situation man!!!

You can hear the NV in vlads voice when Bill said pac gave me the first interview he was fresh out Vlad like yeah I know!! Lmao the way Vlad sounded lol like damn I wish I could have gotten that interview
In one of the bootleg documentary dvds I watched back in the day, one of the dudes said The Wayans Brothers were crying at the party after Biggie got shot. Dunno if that shit is true.

Vlad comparin tupac and biggie to Kendrick and drake deserve a slapp
comparing two of the biggest rappers of their time to two other biggest rappers of their time is insane right?
He was talking about their popularity it's not that hard to figure out.
I love Bill Bellamy stories They're so real.
Puff gas lighted everything. I think PAC and Big would’ve worked it out at some point.
No Diddy gaslighted everything. Pac was sure he was set up at Quad Studio by Stretch ( who was paid by Jimmy Henchman ) and that Big and Diddy knew beforehand and did not warn him. Then they decided to release Who shot ya? while Pac was in jail. Other east coast artists led by Bad Boy decided to diss Tupac on their songs too making it a east coast / west coast thing . And then according to Gene Deal and other witnesses who were there at the time of the beef when people tried to squash the beef between Bad Boy and Death Row Diddy was the one who refused… he even put a 1 million hit on Tupac and Suge.
Vlad is a professional interviewer interrupter. I mean if you just let your guest talk your viewers will learn a lot more than just hearing your voice Vladimir just a little FYI OK I will continue to watch the video.🎬
I wish Vlad would allow the guest to speak.
He can't because he's a narcissistic culture vulture that thinks he knows everything and don't know jack shit
Nigga bill told about 2 stories in this little clip vlad let the nigga speak lol y’all just be crying
Yea they both got killed in front of everybody and neither of their murderers ever got caught
Keefe D is currently fighting murder charge for admitting to murder 2pac
Bill: It was so much venom in that song
Me: That song was all Venom 😂
Thanks bill, been saying what you said.hip hop will never recover from that.
Shocker they were both killed by Diddy hits
Honestly I felt doom when I first heard “Hit ‘em up” too
Thank you Bill. You are a huge inspiration. I grew up watching you. Thank you for your stories man. I was applying how to be a player to my life for years 😆. Blessings to you and your family sir. Keep going you lived it. We NEED to hear it and thank you.

NEVER SEEB DIDDY CRY OVER HIS DEATH
Would you cry over somebody you had killed
Gonna give it to you beat was 🔥
Bill Bellamy favorite line is: CUT TO
Biggie hit hard and hiphop was never the same.
BILL BELLAMY IS CROWNED AS THE COOLIO OF COMEDY!!! 🔥👑✅️💯
I listen to Pac all the time. I was 16 when Pac died
I was 16 also
This is real talk
All that going down memory lane. This man is in pain.
They weren’t called spliffs it was Philly blunts and white owls and those were called blunts
I said it and felt the same way the first time I heard HIT UM UP, my friends can remember the exact day that I said it!!!!
That’s crazy because the first time I heard hit ‘em up I thought that PAC wouldn’t live through the year!! Crazy
Bill Bellamy has really aged well ❤
Yeah Bill really shows he didn't smoke.
The video he’s referring too was Temptations on the Me Against the World album
PAC was beyond angry when he recorded ‘Hit ‘em up’ he was enraged (and rightfully so - that’s what betrayal does to you!) That diss was lethal & PAC meant every word!!! The anger in his voice alone was insane!
Rest in peace to such an angel!
Unfortunately Biggie was a casualty of war 🤷🏾♀️
(Still a hot one in my playlist rotation)
And that’s why I don’t rate hit ‘em up at my top 5. It crossed lines. It’s equivalent to a boxer doing something to disqualify himself. It wasn’t a diss record. It was a threat.
If Pac didn’t release hit em up, him and big would have still been here. It’s as simple as that.
@@therealgunner5488 I doubt it
You sound Joker.

Vlad comparing Biggie and Tupac Murdered to Drake and Kendrick beef- # Reprehensible DJ VLAD Reprehensible!!
Lol he's not necessarily comparing he's actually revealing what hollyweird elites let him as a foreshadowing hence y he stated that's like both dying and Bill was quiet because they know how hollyweird works
I know right?! Comparing two of the biggest rappers of their time to two other biggest rappers of their time is insane!
He’s a great storyteller 👏🏾🤗
I saw the video of brat crying i remember this
“Blunts”😂😂😂😂😂
Yeah, I know, it sounds weird in 2024. But waaaay back, people would pull the tobacco out of Phillies Blunts cigars and replace it with weed.
Bill lace front fade is crazy 😂😂😂
Listen…. Can’t NOBODY tell a story like Bill Bellamy
This is real, Kids will never know the feeling the first time hearing Hit Em Up... Couldn't believe what we were hearing on record! The Krazy thing is that ppl were bumping the record all over even in NY!... it was insane. Felt like Pac lit the world on fire.
When I heard Hit Em Up. Felt the same. RIP to all.
I visited the Petersen Automotive Museum recently. It still gave me chills to know this was where Biggie got shot.
Bill used to be in NJ at the Zanzibar. We had a ball
"Hit em up" is the highest diss song ever.
1 of em
Nah has to be dollaz and sense dj quik dissing mc eiht, best diss song ever
vlad just wants so badly to be able to say 'I begged Biggie not to go to Cali' like he 'begged' Duck to leave the Chi.
The way Vlad talks over his guest is crazy. What was Bill about to say before Vlad cut him off. Vlad ask the question and shut DF up.
Drake and Kendrick Lamar don't belong in the same sentence when anyone talks about Big and Pac
Word from a friend that visited the recording studio in N. Hollywood, PAC was getting high on speed around that time Reckless ..
Diddy changed the course of history with the snap of his finger.
2pac wasnt in the da brat video give it to you remix
He was at the shoot mf open ya ears
@@devantewilliams7240 he wasnt at the shoot either mf
Vlad just picked up that rapid fire sequence from Bill......he take everybody style, he gon be the greatest story teller the world has ever seen
Now that Bill brings it up, Vlad has not made an interview with Quin and Kurt Loder from MTV News where both were known to have sat down and have long conversation with Tupac back then.
That’s a horrible haircut
Horrible dye job
He ain’t know what a blunt was ? LMFAO
This man compared that soft ass beef to Big & pac
Bill know some stuff!
Let’s be honest here VLAD!
You started this conversation and everyone else followed.
Same questions to each guest.
How did Vlad knew it was called spliffs back in the day and Bill didn't know lol
Philly blunts.
B Bellamy is known to tell real stories about that 90's era, dude is funny
I would love if Vlad was around interview Tupac and give us 100 part interviews.
Tupac was a great interviewee
When BILL said hip hop didn’t recover it’s very true because, it really went too far around this period of time, I’ll never forget that episode of RICKI LAKE, the girls from CALI almost got buck with the girls from the NYC audience, and mind you the TOPIC had nothing to do with RAP or HIP HOP
Why did vlad bring up Kendrick and drake
It's a foreshadowing of hollyweird fulfillment....no one gets fame and fortune without jail time, death etc
Vlad u should interview Westwood,he will have stories for days for you,it will slap
Wait, did he say Stretch and Trech was in the room with him n BIG as well??
Vlad you talk over people too much yo…you try to get your point off too much fr
