i liked when the show itself even acknowledged the unfinished state of cyberpunk, namely the police system. "they keep coming outta nowhere! there's no end to them"

Wow, I totally missed that part but that's hilarious. Thankfully Patch 1.7 will change those teleporting cops for real and have them actually drive up in vehicles and motorcycles (while also firing from their cars and giving chase it seems).
Or when one of the characters starts suffering from cyber psychosis and it keeps showing him standing outside the map where a road just cuts off.

@Filipe dude, 2 of the gangs to regularly (maelstrom and the scavengers) engage in some of the darkest shit imaginable, in a city that is LA if all of it was skid row. Hell, considering the construct gave V a second chance at life (he was shot dead in the first couple hours of the game) and doesn't that have to worry about shit like cyber psychosis and actually has a way to go out on his own terms, V is one of the only people having a good time. Like sure, it isn't as dark as some cyber punk stories or stories like berserk or edgerunner's, but it is still fairly dark.

@Filipe my guy. What? You literally spend the first hours of the game with Jackie and it's honestly more fucking painful to watch than Shepherd kill Ghost in MW2. That shit was heart wrenching. It's also incredibly obvious that V has a massive shit ton of plot armor and just about every character he meets that has inolvement in the story, or is tied to his background, has a relatively positive energy and characteristics to them. Why? Because it's a fucking video game.
Literally everything else in the game isn't exactly so happy. It is literally just a corrupt dystopian future. Maelstrom are basically just a bunch of meth heads who jack off and murder people. Every few missions you hear about somebody getting nabbed or taken out, by some Corpo dickheads because that's just how the world works in this game.
It is literally a game where you can buy VR porn from a vending machine, there's prostitutes and strip clubs on every corner of each street, everyone is either high as a kite or beating the ever living shit out of someone, people are constantly talking about others dying and your main guy is dying to the equivalent of a robot tumor.
The only happy things about the game are the fact Keanu Reeves just floats around from mission to mission and the looter shooter gameplay. Throw in some clichés, jokes and easter eggs, it's a pretty good time. But the lore and world that they created? Pretty fuckin' bleak when you think about how close we are to getting there. Not talking about the laser guns and flying cars, robot parts and other sci-fi stuff. The game itself is pretty bleak if you actually played it.
Shit hit closer to home than GTA V ever did.
I love how the stay at your house song is now universally recognized as the sad song. Makes me cry every time.

The saddest part is that this is probably how Becca left her apartment, fully knowing she might never come back.
It was supposed to be a simple job and then they got betrayed. She didn't know that she wasn't going home until she saw david talking to his mom

Not really a David fan. He kinda got Rebecca killed. If he had listened to her most of them would be alive.
@@kitkami David's story is more of how he let Night City influence him. He could've gone against it, but decided to follow other's dreams instead of his own. That's why it's sad. In the end he did at least he was able to help Lucy and Falco survive. And he really didn't get Rebecca killed. She could've abandoned him, but she didn't, so it was her choice to help him, even i she died. She was a good friend. If he could have let Night City itself go, he could have survived. In the others case, except for Lucy, they were wrapped up by Night City, so they were gonna die somehow.
I only need to revenge Rebecca. David pushed to hard. Rebecca was loyal and reliable.
David was slipping from the get-go, trauma after trauma that he was pushing away while going cyberpsycho even after Maine and Dorio. I feel for the guy but he went out a legend like the saying goes Rebecca, on the other hand... reinstalled it just to get Guts and some payback...

Rebecca's death might have been the most impactful. All the deaths were in some way, but hers was just so sudden (like her brothers) and undesired. I mean, no deaths were desired but Rebecca's definitely wasn't.
Faraday's death? That was absolutely deserved after what he and Kiwi did to Lucy in Ep8/9.
I'm so glad and yet sad Lucy survived, her seeing hallucinations of pre-chrome David on the Moon with her alone is heartbreaking, she really did love him.

If you think about it, the city center where Arasaka tower is was closed until after you completed the heist for the Relic Chip. V didn't arrive that long after the events of Edgerunners, and the center was closed off for cleanup and repairs which makes a ton of sense.
Makes sense considering we got to see Rogue in the show and she looked the same age
Explains why Becca's shotgun is still in the bushes ;-; for once I'm glad the cleaners missed a spot.

Man, the anime is exactly what I wanted from a spinoff show from an open-world RPG.
All the places in the anime, the upgrades and skills are all in it and try them yourself.
Not only does it makes a good show, it also helps the game too.
I wish other games like Elder Scrolls or Fallout do this too.
Eh, I feel like Fallout and Elder Scrolls couldn't go into the animated series territory. A live action show just wouldn't fit with how fucking bonkers Fallout is sometimes, either, and Elder Scrolls in my opinion, just doesn't fit with the way live action TV works. It'd end up like a second Game of Thrones, with all the disappointment included. Not to mention the last few good Video Game adaptations were Sonic and... Well, Sonic

Fallout is pretty much a post apocalyptic Cyberpunk in sheer amount of stories that could be created to adapt the universe into animation. I just don't think Zenimax or Microsoft wants anything to do with that.
Rebecca's aprtment actually looks distinctively cyberpunk. It's got its nice bits but most of it is just a large space with bare amenities. Way more realistic than your starter apartment that honestly looks too nice lol
And it has a kitchen! Never understood why the starter apt doesn't have one

I have a feeling V's first apartment was David's? It couldn't have been a coincidence that the decor looked almost identical? Especially the beads curtains in the bathroom

david lived in a mega bulding just as V so it makes sense for them to have the same apartment look since the mega buldings are mass produced. Tho they lived in two different buildings

Just in case is your first time, do the gigs around the first town, (the green signs on the map), do those so you can get enough money and Street Cred, trust me, doing it early is better and pays off.

So glad that this game is making a comeback. They knew exactly what they were doing when they decided to release Edgerunners. It was exactly what they needed to revive their game. I’m looking forward to seeing what comes next for Cyberpunk in the future
Production of Edgerunners began 2 years before the game released
@@NickHunter Either way, the release of "Edgerunners" really seemed to have reinvigorated interest in the game; especially when patch 1.7/2.0 came out afterwards and fixed/changed a lot of things in the game plus ofcourse the Phantom Liberty DLC. So it was definitely released at the right moment imo and caused a big surge in sales for Cyberpunk 2077 again. 😃

Considering how tight cramped real life apartments can be, and how I remember them being even more compact when I played, Rebecca and Pilar seemed like they were doing pretty well for themselves.

I literally just did this side-gig mission in Cyberpunk. The apartment belongs to a cop in the mission 'Scrolls Before Swine'. It's not whatever her name's apartment is. Just a reused asset.
Becca was easily my favourite character from the show. Honestly predicted she’d be the sole survivor too, so imagine how hard I screamed when she got absolutely “smashed”… or maybe squashed is more accurate

She was an annoying trilobite and didn't like her at all.
Then again I didn't like any of them from the start.
David had a massive chip on his shoulder and went out of his way to be a dick in school while intentionally trying to piss off the wrong people.
His plot armor was thicker than the ICE keeping Alt out of the new net.
Rebecca was just flat out annoying disgusting little imp(I know all her fans will hate that) to me.
Remember not everyone's going to have the same opinion and it's nether right nor wrong.

Before some idiot tried to say V had plot armor let me remind them that the player can die at any moment in game.
The chip brought his body back but is slowly erasing his mind as that's what it was created to do.

@@MrNationalWonder It's not been abandoned for long actually, when the game first starts the Corpo District is off limits and Arasaka tower has cleaning crews everywhere.
So the events of Edgerunners takes place in 2076, but obviously Cyberpunk 2077 takes place in 2077. So I think the start of the game is the end of Edgerunners, which is why Guts (Rebecca's shotgun) is still on the scene.

I did expect it, but I won't deny that it still hit me like a freight train to the chest. I still wasn't prepared either way for the ending.

Honestly when they start introducing Adam smasher, I knew our mc and several important characters won't survive, I hate him, but I got to admit, Adam smasher is terrifying as fuck, definitely worth being called as one of the legend
David was satisfied he served his purpose. Maine went the distance, that hacker girl kiwi the traitor, realized her mistake asked herself "what am i doing?" and tried make up for it, Lucy and Falco are still alive so far only Becca and dorio had unfair deaths. Pilar had it coming.
I really love how Becca is almost everyone’s favorite character. The English voice actor really gave her character life. That really crushed me when she died, honestly the only death I didn’t expect. Her brother was a given because that old guy was off.
I think it's because she was the most caring and brave character that she did not deserve that fate.

Tbh, I'm surprised Lucy didn't also get ground into dust. They went up against smasher, the guy's literally been active since pre-2020 by 2077.
@Bradley - She 100% deserved the fate, because at the end of the day she was an edgerunner. It's what happens to almost all of them eventually. They rise to glory, then get snuffed out in one of the most mundane ways known. She was the example that, in that world, no matter who you are, how well liked you are and how good you are at what you do, death will come fast and unexpectedly and there's jack all you can do about it.
Rebecca's was honestly the only death that really got me in the feels.

The way she accepts that nothing will stop David from going to Arasaka tower and even though it will probably be their end, she goes with him because she's in love. One of my favorite scenes in any anime. Seeing that side of her like that when any other time she's crass, violent, and obscene except when David is deep in cyberpyschosis and believes he's talking to his dead mother. That's how you do character building. She cares so much more than we think. It's really beautiful.

@@pamelotms5867 just to run it no, since it runs on the PS4 which has awful hardware, if you mean running it 1080p60fps then yeah you need decent hardware, but with mining over gpus are cheaper than ever, a RX6600 Ryzen 5 / Intel 12400 build would run the game pretty well, even an old 1070/1080 would run it
@Bzake nah man, they've made great improvements to the game. I play on Xbox One, and it runs incredibly well, barely any lag, bugs, or glitches, and it's only crashed once in the 10 or so hours I've played so far. They're making a lot of improvements to the game now, and there's apparently a DLC coming out sooner or later, aside from the fuck tons of free content that CDPR always makes

Whether it's in the anime or the game, Adam Smasher always comes in right at the end with a clutch kill. (Sal, Rogue and now Rebecca).

Then you must complete atleast 15 fixer gigs for Regina and you will get a gig called Scrolls Before Swine after completing Last Login, and Small Man, Big evil gigs. The scrolls before swine pig will have you go and kill a corrupt officer who his residing in Rebecca's apartment and to keep access to the apartment you must kill em

Same. I expected a sad ending too but much different from what happened; I was expecting both David and Lucy to die together in a blaze of glory and Rebecca goes to the moon with their ashes to leave them there.

That's actually insane. I noticed a lot of the details like sound effects, soundtrack, car sounds and locations from the series but down to even apartments? Insane detail
Something not many people realize, the backgrounds In the show are matte paintings that where painted over the game. Every shot you find is directly pulled from the game

Edgerunnings ending was amazing. It sorta gave us closure for Lucy but still left her story arc wide open. Not to mention that with how the Cyberpunk universe is made youj could litteraly think of any story within the series and have it be cannon
Lucy's arc is finished, just like Falco's. They've both left the city as far as we know since Arasaka and Smasher are hunting them. Lucy got her revenge on Arasaka, and I doubt they'd be willing to go through an entire show to get her back to Earth just to end the underground child Netrunner thing.
The trip to the moon is one way since there's no trips back, so Lucy is stuck there to help further humanity.
I find it oddly saddening to see whenever Lucy goes she inevitably feels trapped and when she finally decides to escape, all her friends die. It's also kinda heartbreaking that eventually (judging by the past) she'll feel imprisoned on the moon just like she did in Night City after a while yet can't escape It this time.

DEMORALIZATION
Not gonna lie, the last episode really brought out the waterworks lol. You know you're invested when you're left with that empty feeling at the end with no closure. I felt the same way after finishing both The Witcher 3 and 2077 and it took a minute to move on.
The ending was saddening, for certain. But I didn't feel much of a connection to the characters because right from the get go, it was full-steam ahead and all the characters barely got any time to be fleshed out properly. I wanted to care more, but the show just didn't allow that time to connect with its characters over merely 10 episodes.

Before the show, V was following the trails of a Ghost, after the show, the players are hunting for multiple… it’s actually kinda beautiful.
Actually got excited to replay again. Considering the rocky launch the game had, it's pretty nice to see that they managed to make the game enjoyable.

There is one side quest with a crook cop who lives in same looking flat. I dont remember if it's this exact one or other location, but the whole layout and interior looks the same.
Watching the anime was like playing the game all over again in a way. I hope to see more as did end too quickly. Adam Smasher showed up had me giddy like a school girl

Yes. They made good use of the power of Netflix and Anime. However, they should have spent this effort to make the game better.
Would have been cool if the apartment still had some stuff related to Pilar and Rebecca in it. Even if just a pair of silver cyberhands tossed in a corner and some packs of pink bubblegum on the counter.
Still, Edgerunners was an awesome anime and (together with patch 1.6) seems to have really reinvigorated Cyberpunk 2077 for both old and new players. CDPR recently announced that 20 million units of the game had been sold. Definitely feels like CDPR pulled a Hello Games and really turned things around. Now sure, there's still a lot of cut content but they definitely worked hard to improve what they could. Apparently Patch 1.7 is also going to see a proper police response update with no more teleporting cops but them actually driving up in cars and on motorcycles; even giving chase or responding to gang violence.
Here's hoping that the expansion will be a hit as well and that we also might see a second season of Edgerunners. Maybe David didn't die and is now in the clutches of Arasaka with Lucy now as the main protagonist. Guess we'll have to wait and see if this was a one-off season or if they plan for more.
Never got though a full cyberpunk playthrough (I tend to get all indecisive when making builds in RPGs) but by god has Edgerunners made me want to actually finish the bloody game now.
Do it, and dedicate to a build. I went with a new playthrough recently with a David build, focused on body/reflexes, leveled up blunt/brawling and invested in heavy melee chrome work, and a Sandevistan operating system, to do the whole time dilation thing he does and go absolute ham and close the gap on gun users. Get the Qiut or Qiat forgot what it was specifically, that Sandy OS has time dilation at a level of strength equal to Davids: 10%. Extreme dilation, near standstill, makes you move at like Flash speed compared to other people around you. It's a flashy bursty play style I love it. Live fast my friend.
This series broke my heart. The fact we can find their stuff in-game hurts a bit more, but it's also nice.
It's when fans find out where people live and knock on their doors, but walking into dead peoples house is next level

I like how they can add references in the show of the game, then retrospectively they can add Easter egg into the game about the show (like imagine now when you play the game, David Martinez is something people would reference in chatter (turns out they already made a drink after him in AfterLife), which they can then reference in the next show, only to then become another Easter egg in the game, it's such a unique way of world building that I don't think I've seen or experience before.
Rebecca's shotgun is in the bushes beside Arasaka tower, and you can get David's jacket. So there's a few little things alongside the drink.

Dude the amount of fucking DETAIL the anime gets into, literally everywhere in the show is somewhere you can go in Cyberpunk. Its also completely cannon, every event in the show happened in the game
Best part about this Edgerunner series is how they incorporated it in the game and motivated new and returning players to be able to experience and immerse themselves with the lore in the game as well.. 😭
Tearing Smasher apart was never more satisfying than it was after this show. For David, for Rebecca, for Johnny...

The show was amazing and so was becca, I'm glad they left them to have creative freedom rather than trying to enforce removing the character to begin with, just proves when your too stuck on implications that you judge a character by their looks there's a possibility you might miss out on something good and becca was the mixture of wholesome / obscene / and crazy a series like this needed.

Its honestly super cool seeing how much people are liking the show. Hopefully this means more game content and more edgerunenrs ♥ also am I the only one ABSOULUTELY CRAVING some sort of co op campaign experience from this? a full fledge online experience would be cool but this makes me want to play the story with a friend mix and matching upgrades
CDPR said that CP77 will never have a online mode and the dlc that is coming in 2023 will be the one and only dlc that we're going to have
@@DemoG93 We can't deny things, from what it seems now, cd projekt it's just learning from their errors, they've just said they gonna fix the game and release just 1 dlc, probably to not make more empty promises, but after seeing the ammount of people that started playing cyberpunk out of the anime series, and a lot of them are enjoying it since the game is in a much better state now, depending on the dlc they would probably keep working on cyberpunk, it would be stupid from them not to, the universe they've created really lets them do a lot of different things.

I feel like Trigger did what just about any anime studio does when the option is available. They went on location. For so much of the show I kept thinking, “I’m pretty certain I’ve been there.”

Jokes aside, a LOVED Edgerunners and I’m psyched to play 2077 for the first time!
Since V arrives a week or so after the end of Edgerunners, the Apartment is just sitting there vacant and abandoned, left as it was right after the events of Edgerunners. The time gap is so short that it hasn't even been cleared out yet for resale or new tenants.

Sucks to this game got enough shit.. I wish the city was a little bigger not saying that it is but areas like Pacifica are blocked off you can even hear the citizens talk about it… They said it’s “one big cyber fight in there” still doesn’t explain why we can’t enter it but I heard the arena was suppose to be expanded and online players can fight in it hope this is true cause it could blow the game up

they did a really good job setting the show in actual locations of the game. not just big recognizable ones either. it shows they really cared about what they were making

The anime takes place a year before the game, and the apartment is kind of, free'd up at the end-
CDPR added an entire Side Mission that allows you to visit major locations from within the Edgerunners series. Its such a cool addition.
I'm 45 an not at into modern anime but I had to watch this and my lord it was freaking amazing. I'm hoping from more but it coming from Trigger we'll probably only get one of these amazing anime series. So we'll written and the animation is like something from the late 80s early 90s. I can't wait for more official content and mods related to the anime. Hopefully.👌🤞
it's really sad for Rebeca's death which is quite fast and ridiculous, well this anime plot is very fast and seems to be in a hurry to get to the ending, so well... I can't expect anything. but apart from that, this anime can really make me sympathize with all the characters in the anime even though the plot is so fast. amazing character development
In the game depending on the ending you also lose some friends in brutal ways for Smasher.
He crushed Sal's head under his feet, and open a big whole in the chest of Rogue, good thing is that both Sal and Rogue manage to give a crippling blow on Smasher before they die, Sal give a point blank shot with his shotgun on Smasher face , and Rogue slip a grenade on his chest in return, it doesn't kill Smasher, but weakened him enough to V kill him.

Only one dlc. They have said they have not planned any more. So unless something changes no. Plus honestly the way Lucy had walked away from everything up there i got the feeling she was never coming back...

We hope that in the future in new patches we will have more visible interactions and snippets of the characters' backstory. Because from what we see this apartment is a completely generic part and nothing connected to the character. Just a structure chosen to represent in the anime.
Honestly this series pretty much resurrected and saved the original game. A lot of people knew most bugs were already fixed, but that alone wasn't enough for people to trust putting in the time investment.
