Because he didn't do a good job with the comparison. Should compare the boxes side by side and point out differences. Can't tell a fake from the figure inside when buying on eBay.

I’ve only ever bought pops from official markets like Hot Topic, Gamestop, Walmart, FYE, and Amazon. Never gonna get fake pops hopefully

You can use a scouter to detect DBZ power levels. The fakes ones don’t have the same energy as the real ones

That Trunks is absolutely fake. I own the figure myself and just by looking at the hair, it's waaay too bright. The real figure's hair is a more dull yellow, not that bright, neon yellow. Also, the sword is much too thick compared to the real thing. Plus the box is missing the NYC Comic Con sticker. I can also confirm the Trunks does have the rights reserved R next to the Pop logo.
The stand test wouldn’t always work though. I’ve bought SO many brand new Pops that had problems standing before.
Day 2 of asking if tristan could open an online store where he sells funko mystery boxes as he did at previous comic cons.
Great video! Anytime something is highly collectible it doesn’t take long for fakes to enter the supply chain. Looking forward to learning more about these fakes!

Just want to point out having the little R next to the POP! isn't the best indicator for whether a Pop is fake or not. I checked multiple Pops I own that I bought from places like Gamestop and they do not have the R as well. Seems like on a lot of older Pops, they didn't include the R. If anyone was curious.
Can barely tell the difference tbh. Wouldn’t be too upset with the fake anyways
Little trick I found to tell if they’re real or not is to scan the barcode on the bottom. It usually comes up with the wrong pop. I bought a fake Reaper on eBay to see how good/bad it was, and the barcode came up with a Spider-Man pop on the app.

So lots of misinformation here. The copyright logo is not there on the older pops. Also the paint jobs are horrendous on the older pops. Serial number didn't always match up because Funko mispackaged pops for years. Collecting since 2013 trust me you'd be surprised how poor QA was in older Funko.
Question, do some of the older funko pops not include the r next to the logo ? 🤔 because some of my pops don’t include it but I’m 100% sure they aren’t fake

Sup guys, Im new to the FUNKO POP world and I have a little issue. I just received from amazon RAYA WITH TUK TUK (Amazon Exclusive #1005 with sticker on it) and there’s no serial number on the box…there are some numbers in white underneath the head area. It’s not a bobble head…is it fake ??

I buy cases of Funkos from the distributor/manufacturer and sometimes the colouring is slightly off on the boxes and figures.
People are so funny like every batch of ink is identical 😂
I had a 50 dollar budget and bought a 6 inch funko for 40 dollars, it was a rip off and the box was destroyed and tared, first of all, the paint was chipped, second, the eyes were not the correct color, and most importantly, the head could be removed and put back...

I've gotten 2 fnaf pops at dollarama and there's a loose piece of plastic in one of their heads but the box looks legit and they have the copyright, just kind of shotty paint jobs. I still like them though since I don't really care about collecting pops I just want the fnaf and nightmare before Christmas ones

Hey TopPops I’ve seen probably fake funko pops with a pamphlet with other Funko products for the theme of the pop. Like an Aladdin with a pamphlet of other Disney Funko products.

DID I SPOT ANOTHER FAKE In ViDEO??!!! Hey, @ min 4:50, you show the copyright “R” logo on a Harry Potter funko pop in an effort to compare fakes vs real. My question though is on the Harry Potter example where is the little red oval underneath the “Pop!” logo in the upper left hand corner that indicates in white letter writing if the pop is from television, movies, games, etc..., essentially showcasing what category the Funko Pop belongs too. Don’t all Funko Pops have that defining red oval with the white lettering indicating it’s camp? Or is that not on all Funko Pops? Please respond or let the community respond or do another video so we as consumers know the difference moving forward. Thanks!
Thanks for making this video. I hope you can make more like this in the future as well because I feel like these fakes are popping up everywhere. I've seen a whole bunch of the Indiana Jones Pop that you have for sale on ebay & other sites for around $24. Those have got to be fakes. And they ship from China. Do you think you could compare a fake Indiana Jones to the real one you have?

I got an android 18 pop that doesn't have the copyright on it and doesn't stand right
I got a funko pop at Six Flags but the character has the pain slightly off. 😕
Also, do all Funko Pops have this “R” copyright logo in upper left hand corner next to the “Pop!” logo? If it’s not there, is the Pop a fake? Are there exceptions? I’ve seen the original vaulted run of Run DMC without the “R” copyright for sale on Ebay. And when I googled what a known legit box looked like, it too did not appear to have the copyright “R” stamp. Of course my reference picture of the “legit” box might not be “legit” either. Please educate!!! 😊

Yall make sure to google what the box is supposed to look like. Some pops just dont have the trademark.
another way you can tell it’s fake is because it say 9 when it’s supposed to say 09
Some of my older DBZ pops don't have the copyright R next to POP!, but these were bought from major retailers

The pop games and animation series dont have the r trade mark. Not too sure about the other ones

@@kevino6858 yeah I watched a whole bunch of pop reviews and what not and like 80 percent of the boxes they showed didnt have the r trade mark. Im guessing it depends on the date of the release for the pop
Only fake one I bought was the Planet Arlia Vegeta, paint job is OK and went to the effort of putting the stuff under the feet

Also Funko figures has the ISBN ID on the figure. To know if it’s legit authentic Funko figure. Just like Mattel Barbie dolls and Disney items... the fakes won’t have that

One thing about the first edition prints It didn’t have the writing on the bottom of the feet and a lot of the originals don’t have the R on the box and not only that the originals did you use different plastics so you’re actually thinking that’s fake but it’s not it’s actually worth more money my friend works for funko Pop
I’ll tell you about the only fake -that I know of-that I’ve ever gotten. I purchased the metallic Whis from someone on Amazon and when I opened it up it was immediately obvious it was a fake-it was the common Whis with a badly faked Con sticker and also a very bad smell coming from it. Fortunately, because it was Amazon, I got my money back. Still-it can happen to anyone!
I’m trying to get my cousins to like Pops like me so I spent $77 dollars on Pops for them. I will edit this when they get. I am slap going to show the Top Pops bc he was a huge inspiration for me. Thank u Tristan.

I just went to comment before saying that I have a #10 Goku Pop, got it from a reputable Pop Culture store called Zing, and I thought it didn’t have the little info tab on Goku on the back of box. Just had a second look at it, and it does. Can’t believe I didn’t notice it before. At least I know mines genuine! 😁 I also have the gold chrome Super Saiyan Vageta Pop, but it doesn’t have the Toy Tokyo sticker on it, but just a basic exclusive sticker. However, I do have 2 fake Pops that I got from eBay. One is a SSG Goku red hair and the other is a SSGSS Goku blue hair. You can definitely tell they are fake, just by looking at the Pop’s themselves. They paint is off colour and not accurate at all! The boxes also look dodgy too.

Ok, please Tristan stop saying that a pop with a very little damage on the box is fake ( I'm talking about the other video that is your top 5 least favourite pops and I don't remember the date ). The fake goku looks better than the real
4$ vs 30$. I would buy the fake one. Its 95% the real one at 95% discount.
