    I never bought from aristides, BUT I was very close to buying but finances ruined everything at the time. From my experience with emailing back and forth with someone from there, they were really quick and detailed in anything i asked about and even helped me on some options i was unsure about and I really wish that i wouldve been able to buy. Just giving my experience with them as a vouch for anyone doubting the "unbiasness" of this review from the aspect of the company itself.

    People get their panties in a wad when someone new comes along and builds a better instrument by bucking every industry practice that's been around for decades and asks for a fair price given the amount of work that goes into their instrument. The same people don't bat an eye at the $4500 Gibson VOS guitars.

    Just to throw it out there, Aristides does have some great customer service. They missed an email I sent them but they totally owned it. Pascal replied quickly and was able to provide me with the information I requested and let me know that some things were in the works that would help me have the chance to try out one of their instruments.
    I wasn't placing an order or even asking about pricing but the timeliness and the level of interaction were impressive.

    Most likely the materials used in the build is what gives the versatility of the pickups. Plus the stainless steel frets factor in also. Sounds like no one will regret picking up one of these beautiful works of craft and art.

  • @pepsiguzzler86
    @pepsiguzzler86 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    One issue with bareknuckles is that people often buy the calibrated sets. In my humble opinion this is a huge mistake with any brand because the contrast is often minimal. Personally I want two distinctively different pickups from the bridge and neck. There are exceptions with the Alpha and Omega set from Seymour Duncan but overall I think it's a bad idea.
    One of the most popular sets with BKP is the coldsweat set. They sound too alike and the neck is still very aggressive whilst the bridge is still necky sounding. If I wanted a one pickup guitar like Alexi Laiho then a coldsweat in the bridge is sooooooo perfect. But if you wanna try a killer set go for a ceramic Nailbomb paired with a VHII in the neck. Absolutely gorgeous with a huge palette to choose from when paired with a 5 way switch. But BKP have a level of compression on them that you either love or hate.
    Whereas SD's have a "sizzle" or noise I often don't like unless you go with pups like the Pegasus or Sentient. Dimarzio to my ears are pretty quiet but their true character takes more cranking to hear so IR at bedroom levels is the way to go. I feel like I understand gear on the premise that it's how it's used, not what it is if that makes sense?
    Some people hate using tubescreamers with their distortion tone but for the frequencies I like it makes my tone much more higher definition just like upgrading your TV from 10 years ago to have better and deeper blacks. If you don't care about that thing it doesn't matter of course. BOSS pedals add more noise of different variations to your signal chain and some people are looking for that........... not me.

    I played an 060 at the NAMM show this year and was absolutely blown away by the feel. It was incredibly comfortable and made me feel like I could play anything. This guy may sound like he is being paid but this is actually how excited these guitars make you feel. I can honestly say that the only other guitar that felt anywhere near as great was the Regius Core from Mayones Guitars and that is a whole different ball of wax.

    is there any chance you'll be doing reviews of more 'general' guitars? Like gibsons, gretsch, yamaha, that kind of thing. It seems like they're not your thing, but i thin that could make for an even more interesting view from an outsider perspective. I'm a jazz guy, and am very fond of the gretsch streamliner series (only $450 hardtail), so it'd be cool to see your personal opinion on them if you could get your hands on one.

    And just as I was about settled on a Kiesel DCM8, you post this. But, what can you say about the neck feel especially as it joins the body as compared to a traditional neck thru? And do you have any input (or actual sound clips) as to how the SD Pegasus/Sentient combo actually sounds in one of these?

    • @chadneville267
      @chadneville267 7 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      I've played an Aristides 070 with that pickup combo. It's incredibly versatile sounding. If upper fret access and thin necks are important to you, then there's no comparison between a Kiesel and Aristides. I own both. The Aristides has the best upper fret access of my 20+ guitars.

    • @mattgoodTX
      @mattgoodTX 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chad Neville thanks for the input. The way the back of the guitar was shaped looked a little weird to me which was the basis for asking. I've been so indecisive about a guitar for the last year or so but everyone seems really happy with Aristides.

      Jess Rose for the model you are looking at, it'd be significantly less. Check out the brand's website...they have base prices there, but then look up Kyle Karich on Facebook and ask him.

    just thinking maybe its the material that the aristides is made of that makes the pups sound better than in other instruments?

      ArnoldPlaysGuitar okay.
      what do you think of drop f?

      @DeathShark00 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tobias with 8 string and 28 inch scale you can do low e well, but might as go with 30 inch if your going below that

    • @tobiasteichmann5882
      @tobiasteichmann5882 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      okay but this guitar i will buy got a 25,5 to 27 inch scale. i hope that is with a thick 0.80 enough

    • @DeathShark00
      @DeathShark00 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      make sure your nut is even big enough to fit a .80 if so it should be fine. my 27 inch 7 string does drop g with a .64

  • @analpilator9807

    maybe you just misspoke but just there is no such thing as "pickup gain", I think you meant output?

    • @ArnoldPlaysGuitar
      @ArnoldPlaysGuitar  7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Analpilator no. I meant pickup gain. Anything can be loud without breakup if you have enough headroom. Some pickups just push the amp harder in terms of breakup. BKPs just don't tend to do that.

    Why is there so much variance in weight, considering it's all made from synthetic materials? Doesn't that point to some potential quality control issues?

    • @chadneville267
      @chadneville267 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Daniel Yeh Find two wood guitars made from the same exact woods that have the same weight

    • @KYDY
      @KYDY 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wood guitars, sure. Same wood species can have very different densities.
      But Aristides guitars are NOT made from wood, it's made from man-made materials. Glass and carbon fiber + Arium + paint = Aristides guitar. Plus pickups, hardware, and strings. All man-made.
      So it's alarming to hear that a 7-string is noticeably heavier than an 8-string. It means they're being loosey goosey somewhere with how it's made. Everything's man-made, so it ought to be controlled, at least to the point where it's not blatantly noticeable that a 7-string is heavier than an 8-string.

      Much thank. I'm basically gathering opinions from Kemper owners/users of how fucking awesome it is and that you don't need a big ass cab or amp to use it. So then I can show my girlfriend all the awesome opinions on it and then she'll be less mad when I remove the $$$ from our wedding fund to buy me a motherfuckin' KEMPER BOI !! :D

    Interesting guitar but just like a lot of these guitars for lower tuning, I don't see the point of having more than 6 strings. Still rather have Duncans or Fishman pickups in there I'm guessing.
