    This is one of my favourite songs from IU asides from palette and blueming. The whole yellow card reference refers to sports games where a yellow card would be shown by the referee to a player being cautioned. So in this instance, she's sending a warning to those who are breaking the rules by invading her privacy and spreading rumors. Whether that be fans, the media or the paparazzi. Also let me just mention how absolutely gorgeous she is!! She's so pretty. ;-;

I love that she made this song. She isn’t afraid to tell people to back off. I took it as a warning that if people don’t keep their distance she will go back into hiding. Good for her.

What you were saying in the beginning about being so fascinated by her and not being able to pinpoint exactly why, especially coming from a completely different genre preference musically... I completely relate. This is what she does. I also came from a very, very different background of musical preference (grunge, punk rock, underground hip-hop, etc.) and never in my life thought I would even give anything pop or K-pop related the time of day (aside from Michael Jackson and Prince, of course). But here I am, 4 years after first discovering her and she is now my absolute favorite thing on earth! And this entire time I've been trying to figure out and make some kind of sense of how and why she is so inexplicably amazing, and I always just settle on the fact that there just simply isn't enough words to adequately describe her. She's some kind of magic. Almost exactly like what you would think an actual angel would be like. I'm not religious or anything, but I swear there's some other force at work here. She's blessed by something, somehow, in some kind of way. She's too imperfectly perfect to not be. How could someone have such an unparalleled level of musical talent that is so equally matched by not only her acting talent, but also her humble and genuine personality, her incredibly kind heart, and her incomparable beauty?! She's got to be the closest thing to a real angel that we'll ever know! And we are so incredibly lucky to get to witness her life and career like this.ㅠㅠ That's my take on it anyways. And seriously, the more you get to know her through her music and TV appearances and behind the scenes videos, you'll come to love and appreciate her more and more. That's something you can count on 100%.
And on a lighter, slightly less-fanboyish note, DKDKTV also has an explained video on this MV like they did with the Eight MV. Don't worry tho, it's not as sad. But you were right about the rebellious nature of this song. I recommend checking the explained video of this song too, even if you don't do a reaction to it. Anyways, welcome to the Uaena fandom. Glad you found IU. Keep diving deeper, and I swear it will actually make your life better. Not even exaggerating.

this song is definitely my favorite iu song (with eight), idk, i just reminds me of how bts refers to their haters (tho they r more aggressive) and it's so rare to see female artists have space to be sassy about all the shit they go through!

i always loved the message of this song. so many fans expect something from their favorite idols/celebrities. but honestly idols don’t owe us anything! they’re humans too at the end of the day. love your IU reactions

Jim don't try figure it out, just enjoy the journey. I have often said that IU is greater than the sum of talents and abilities. As another reactor said about IU, that she was born under a star, she is one in a million.
I can't tell you the number of reactors I have watched who have said things like " I don't like ballads, I dont listen to ballads, and yet my playlist is full of IU's ballads" or "I am not a kpop fan so why do I have an IU playlist running on repeat?" Or " don't really listen to female kpop artist. There is one exception, IU". And I hear this one frequently especially after listening to her for the first time, she really isnt my style or my kind of music or what I listen too. But if they do just one or 2 more reactions you can see the hook being set. I watch a reactor just yesterday who is into music with a very heavy bass and Rap. Someone suggest IU. He admitted he didn't know anything about her except that she was kpop which he doesn't listen to. His first reaction was to Lilac. Once the song started he immediately started to laugh saying that this was exactly what he thought it would be. And frankly he was being disrespectful, but I continued to watch. After the fight scene he had settled down and commented that she could sing. The next day he reacted to BBIBBI has the person who suggested IU in the 1st told him he might like it better. To his credit he was back to give a look. He chuckled a little at the start but before too long you could slowly see the hook taking hold. He stopped talking and becoming lost in IU world. It will be interesting to see if continues. Some get scared off because they can't get their heads around becoming an IU fan, lol. The images of themselves as hard rockers, street rappers, classical musicians or whatever they are they cant face identity crisis.
I discovered IU when I watched the Kdrama My Mister in which she is the female lead. I was so captivated by her and the character she played I would go to bed worrying about her safety (silly I know but true none the less). So I started to research her and found out that she was a kpop singing artist. I had never listened to kpop and had an image of what that style of music was like. As I started to watch TH-cam videos of her, at the start just interviews and behind the scenes type stuff. I was actually afraid to listen to her sing because I didn't want to not like her music.
I like a wide range of music. I like what I like. I grew up in the 60's, college in the early to mid 70's. Most of the artist or groups that I have followed over the years most only have a few to a handful of songs that I really love and listen to regularly. And even fewer where I would or do listen to complete albums. IU however has top them all. I cant explain it. How does a song that you don't even know the words or the actual meaning bring you to tears. How does an artist while performing looks into the camera and smiles and it feels like your soul is healing. How does this person I have never meet make you feel like everything will be ok? I have never experienced anything like IU. Not everyone gets it I know that, although who don't yet it at all I have to wonder if they aren't dead inside.
Anyway I hope you continue your journey. There is a lot to take in, and don't exclude the behind the scenes video's your channel puts out and the short documentaries out there. You will gain additional insight into this amazing person.
P.S. The only thing currently on my bucket list is to attend an IU concert with my granddaughters. I hope she will come to the US before its too late for me.

Very well said. There is no such thing as a bad IU song. She is the only artist that I listen to all her songs in the album. Most artists you only like a couple of songs, the rest ate just fillers. I can put her songs on a playlist on repeat and never gets tired of listening.

I love it when people can rant about her the way I do, and do it even better than me! keke Everything you said was perfect. That whole paragraph about her music bringing you to tears and how she makes you feel like everything will be ok.ㅠㅠ ㅠㅠ. That is exactly how I feel. She saved my life actually with those qualities she has. But that's another story for another comment thread keke. It just really pleases me when I hear others express the things I feel about her in such an articulate, relatable way. Thank you for that. I'm glad she's touched your heart too.

I think IU has the popularity and longevity to be able to say (in this song) what every celebrity feels, at least sometimes. "I appreciate your love and support, but you don't own me and I don't owe you my private life or personal space." It's brave but she does it in such a clever way, and she has the brand power to do it and get away with speaking her mind. This song made me realize that there's more to her than cute...

YESS I love her "rebellious" concepts as much as I love her sad ones. Twenty-three is kinda like BBIBBI as well, but more cheeky and playful.

    my recommendation:
you need to check at least her most legendary songs (MV and live) :
Good Day (2010) --> for this, be careful when choosing live version to be reacted XD
    Friday (2013)
    Through The Night (2017)
    Blueming (2019)
    Celebrity (2021)
for more "rock-ish" IU, you can check:
Blueming live version (live in Love Poem) --> be careful, its rareeee, so rare but I see ppl get blocked bcs of this
Hold My Hand live version (live in Love Poem)
    Jam Jam live
    Black Out live
I can write a lot more, but no... lets just take it slowly XD
*resist my urge to write too much information
anyway, thank you for your time to make a video for IU
    we really appreciate it, truly

This is the first video that I saw IU can dance. Lol. That shoulder shimmy thing is a bit harder than it looks.

You should see a young IU do the popping dance on a variety show. She said she can't coordinate her hands and feet at the same time. She has to learn them separately for a dance. On her Palette TV show with Itzy as guests she asked them to teach her their iconic dance. She nailed it after a couple of tries.

Trivia, IU actually wrote this song for her fans for her 10th anniversary. She actually intended to write a (maybe ballad) song for her fans but as she started writing, somehow, BbiBbi was born lol..

It's about telling people they don't have any rights over her just because she's a celebrity. Her privacy is hers and if you cross the line, You're the problem.

all the "online" references refer to the online harassment she (and other idols endure)

If you liked IU's angelic voice but your home base is rock or metal, you might like Dreamcatcher. For two opposite ends of the spectrum, try Deja Vu and Endless Night :)

In football (aka soccer to Americans), the referee will hold up a yellow card as a warning of foul play. If the player commits another foul, then it's a red card which means the player is sent out of the game. In other words, the yellow card is a warning card.
