Yes to a video on your pared down makeup and skin care routine while traveling! Thank you for these videos. I am definitely looking at the Away expanded carry-on and everyday bag for future trips because we are carrying our luggage on, but I am handling luggage for both me and my six-year-old, which was a bit of a beast in the airport on our way back from Disney this month :)
Yes the whole logistics thing is FOR REAL and you have to be able to move it all easily which can be a trick!
I am so glad that you are posting your vlogs more regularly. I will not watch any others until I have watched your latest. I agree with you that travel accessories are very important. I’m bag obsessed. I did a ton of research looking for the best backpack for my husband. Before the Great Unpleasantness, he traveled regularly for work and always wanted to travel carryon only. I bought he the Series 1 medium Knack backpack. It fits under the seat on the plane even when fully loaded. What’s great for him is that it has a zippered compartment that expands it to the size of a small suitcase. However, when he gets to where he’s going, he can unpack it, zip up that suitcase compartment and use it as a daily work bag. So, he takes a normal carryon and the backpack and he’s good to go, while also not having an overly large backpack that he takes to the office. It’s got some great organization areas for his daily carry as well as a laptop compartment. It’s been great for him. If I remember correctly, the only downside was that it didn’t have a trolley sleeve. However, I think their newer ones do have that. Also, it’s not cheap, but it’s well made.

Such a pretty travel set! That backpack is amazing! When a girl finds something she wants, she should just get it and ask questions later, especially if it's a bag. The great unpleasantness taught me that! (I'm looking at you Loungefly backpacks!)

I love your backpack! Thanks for showing your packing essentials. I have looked at the charger /cord you’ve shown always debating if I should get it. I’ll take a look at it again, crossing fingers we will be traveling to Europe next year. 🤞 A tip for planes that I always remember when I read about it was you should always hear jeans and tennis shoes. Why because if in an emergency you need to jumó from the plane onto the shoots your legs and feet are protected from fire and other unforeseen events. I think I read it on a link for airplane safety years ago. Pass it along if you think others might find it helpful. If they do the loading from back to front it a smart move because I always felt awkward passing those sitting there and they watch you😳
I really like that backpack! I love using backpacks when I travel due to the hands free aspect. So seeing one with a trolley sleeve and all those compartments speaks to me!
I have wanted them to start boarding from back to front since I was like 12 or 13 and traveled with my little sister back and forth from moms to dads lol. It never made sense to me that you would have people in boarding groups and have them take their suitcases and bags all the way to the back past everyone. You would get hung up on the armrests and people feet and its a mess! I hope this is on every airline now! (I usually travel Southwest tho I've been on just about every airline over the years.) We're going to fly from Maryland to Phoenix AZ hopefully soon (really want a vaccine for my 8 year old now!) and I feel like that would make the world of difference.
Also I feel the same about masks they don't bother me at all. I almost feel like they're armor I'm wearing lol. I think we might just use them on all trips so we don't have to worry about being sick on vacation from even a common cold.
It's fun to think about traveling again! Once you had fit everything in, I was relieved there was still some space leftover because I need room for snacks. :-) Great review video - am now seriously considering this, especially for the super-duper secret pocket in the trolley sleeve. I love details like those!
Charlie YES that compartment is what sold me! I get distracted when I’m in a new place and don’t want to have to worry about a pick pocket taking advantage of that.😂

Jen, I have always been a bag nut... While I have a couple of backpacks, I don't use them very often for traveling, I find the messenger style better suits my likes (Filson). Now as to a carry on, I use a small (19") TravelPro or the 21" for longer trips. All I need for most trips, and because I fly a lot of computer jets, my bag has some colorful rope tied on it. BTW, I replaced the wheels (2 only not the 4 wheeler) with some high performance roller blade wheels.... much easier to pull. Lastly, it is about multi-use when traveling - Cathy & I for our 2+ week trip down under - had 1 check bag, each a carry on and backpack/messenger bag.... what was cool about that was we separated items not needed for our cruise portion and left a bag at the hotel for pickup upon our return to port! You’ll be happy to know that I’m going back to the office tomorrow, so will not be bothering you so frequently! I’ve watched a LOT of videos while I’ve been sick!! I have the Everywhere Bag (the newer version and love it) and know you use yours pretty regularly. Do you still use your backpack? My husband has the Away larger carry on as well, and I feel like the backpack is more his style than the Everywhere Bag. Also…I JUST saw one of the electronics “grid” thing. I was thinking that the flat-ish set up is space saving, but I don’t see you use that in more recent videos. Pros/cons? Thank you for all you do. You have kept me well entertained over these last few weeks.
The grid thing is still around but you're right I don't use it as often. I just find it kind of a pain to get the things put in there especially in flight? And yes, still have my backpack and Scott has one and LOVES it - he uses it almost constantly and not just for travel. He's hard on bags, too, and it still looks brand new. I hope you're feeling 100%!!! And thanks for all the fun comments while you recovered!

Yes I think the best part of the backpack is it’s gender neutral and everybody needs a good backpack!
I have always used a backpack as one of my carry on bags, but I just may have backpack envy after seeing this vlog!!
Trish it took me forever to be able to justify this purchase but I am SO GLAD I finally did it!
I used to travel almost weekly for work, and I used to be a quick packer and super light and efficient in the stuff I packed. My last few flights, I have been a disaster over packing and taking forever. I just laughed because as you said I felt like I had never travel before. Planes temperatures are a gamble, sometimes its super hot and you walk to the back and it is like 20 F different. I used to always pack extra cosmetics to use the extra time in the hotel to do mini facials or whatever. I have a backpack that has a zipper on the strap that can hold your phone which is life changing since you can have your ID and CC and phone handy for airport and taxis and transfers. I tend to travel with flowy dresses so cant count on pockets.
Need to revamp my packing skills.
I'm amazed how out of practice I got in just a few (not so short;) months!

I’m addicted to any kind of packing video and this was so helpful and full of good advice. I’ll be taking my first flight since March of 2020 and I’m afraid I’ll be a little overwhelmed. So many good points (like bringing a book instead of all the things 🤦♀️ duh!) and I’m loving that Away backpack! I do have a birthday coming up. Hmmmmm 🤔

I flew home after my 2019 WDW trip with some virus or a cold, so I will take masks on my late 2021 trip.
I'm a fan of Away as well, but I prefer to go as large as I can for a personal item and I found LUG Steamboat 2 to be the perfect personal item. ;).

Sharon-i have several Lug Steamboats. Have you ever had trouble getting it to fit under the seat?

That looks like such a fabulous backpack for solo travel! I wish I could do all carry-on but as a plus size gal it's hard- my clothes take up so much room, especially in the colder months. I cannot wait to start traveling again! First up, Disney in January!

I recently got the samsonite 80/20 split hard sided suitcase & love it. I really wanted to get the away but I'm so frustrated with the 50 50 book style. Its so much easier to manage the more c
Traditional style suitcase but still have hard side.

Gorgeous backpack! I use the Indi backpack by Dagne Dover and love it. I love being hands free and find it easier to lug around the airport when I don’t have my suitcase with me.
Yes, I fought using a backpack but they really are the most efficient and comfortable!
@@JoyfulLivingwithJenLefforge yep! And you can’t beat diaper backpacks for organizing. My is technically a diaper backpack but I sold the diapering parts of it because my kids are well out of that stage. I forgot to say I’d totally like to see what you bring for makeup/ cosmetics!

I bought this same bag and color last summer during a huge sale. It’s sitting waiting for me to use!

@@JoyfulLivingwithJenLefforge Haha the biggest trip we had since the Great Unpleasantness, was a week before my birthday in May, to the Netherlands, to go see the Ragdoll litter that was born on Easter Monday and pick out the little fluffy princess that will be joining our family in 2 weeks now. So we will make that same trip again in 2 weeks! eeeekkkkk :-) (it's about a 2 hr drive lol :p big trip huh)

There wasn't one - there is a trolley sleeve on the back of the backpack so it just slid over the handle. Thanks for watching!
Hi Jen, I am a huge fan of away and only heard about them through your videos. Now I have a collection. That green pouch looks great for corralling items to use on the airplane. Do you remember where you got it from?

One question how would not loose things in all those pockets
The key to that is to have all the pockets designated - it's the only way to do it. In other words, this is my "cell phone" pocket and this is my "lipstick and hand lotion" pocket, etc. It really does work! Just like cubbies in pre-school!

Love the bag ! Just wondering could you use it for clothes ( tshirts,shorts,underwear etc, ) looking for a bag to visit my mom in Florida for a few days ! I love being able to put a bag or suitcase under the seat in front of me ! ( Iam short and have a hard time lifting and putting a bag in the compartments above ) Thanks ( I fly Jet Blue ) 😌
You could but I would be worried it wouldn't fit enough? Would depend on the trip but could definitely fit a few items!
Love your matchy matchy set! Do you prefer a backpack for the times you are putting your carryon in and out of the overhead? Otherwise it would be on the carryon? Or under the seat? I can’t use a backpack for long due to shoulder issues.
Yes, I leave it on the trolley handle except for when actually boarding and un-boarding so I don't have it on for long!
Is this a current bag that Away Travel is still selling in 2023? I cannot find one that has the water bottle pocket on the side with the laptop case.

And I was today year's old when I found out that the toiletry bag has a hidden zipper compartment for your razor! WHAT?! I swear these things are like Swiss Army Knives and how do we own things we don't know what they do? LOL

Yes, totally just because it is slightly smaller (although truly not by much). Also the planes for international travel are a little bigger, generally, so I don't mind the space it takes up under the seat in front of me as much?
