Under Night's character sprites and animations are way better than BlazBlue's imo. BlazBlue can be a bit janky and stiff in its animations from time to time which makes the action confusing and hard to watch.
Agreed. While I still think Blazblue looks good the game can look a bit janky and the sprites should be redone. It also helps that I really love the urban night time asthetic of Under Night.
Well, BlazBlue is older and it set the tech and workflow of high-quality sprite work and UNIEL developers got advice from them. Of course, they could improve things in a new series with the ground already laid.
Hmm, interesting. I can kind of see what you mean, but personally I really, really find BlazBlue to be much more interesting, visually speaking. I guess it might be more confusing, but personally I find Guilty Gear much more confusing than either this or BB, not because of the animation, but because of the exaggerated and/or highly unusual moves and character designs. Anyway, here's my usual disclaimer that this is just my opinion and I totally respect everyone else's :)
Yea, UNIEL sprites are incredible looking and efficient in that they don't add any drawings that aren't needed. Minimal animation but follows motion arcs incredibly.
But BlazBlue animations are more creative and unique. Visual effects are also high level. Celica for example, every move she does is so interesting and well thought out. UNIEL style looks sophisticated but I prefer the craziness of BlazBlue.
Uniel the most underrated fighting game ever. Fucking period. Character diversity in tournaments, exciting matches and it is sooo fun to play at any level
I really wanted J3 to take grand finals, but good stuff to Clim. It’s also good to see more people getting interested in this game due to Cross Tag Battle. Hope the competitive scene keeps on growing.
Is it me or did this game become huge after getting exposure from Blazblue Cross tag battle? I grew to love the play style of this game. Really wish they added this on Nintendo Switch. I don't own a Playstation
This VOD is what got me into UNIST. J3 vs Clim was the first set I ever watched and it's the reason that I'm a Phonon main and JJ is my favorite player (aside from the fact that JJ is the nicest guy I've ever had the pleasure of talking to). Definitely my favorite tournament.

LOL For the record, I rather have Melee as a casual viewer, since its a Smash game and the only fighting games I enjoy to watch is Smash. But this RIP MELEE all of a sudden is too funny xD
Essentially, you fill that GRD gauge by being aggressive in combat, and whoever has more of the gauge filled every time the circle timer fills up, they gain an attack boost and the ability to sacrifice the remainder of their gauge for meter and a free cancel.
It's the GRD Gauge. You get GRD for approaching, landing hits, etc. But it works both ways. So you also gain GRD from blocking and shielding. It's a really nice system since it rewards both offense and defense. But the main point of the GRD Gauge is get vorpal. Vorpal gives you a 10% dmg increase as well as letting you CS(chain shift)
basically the GRD Gauge measures which character has either a) won neutral or b) successfully defended themselves. The way it works is that certain actions award GRD blocks (landing assault attacks, teching grabs, blocking, approaching the other player etc) and other take them away (backdashing, using the character's "force function", getting hit etc) and the person who has more blocks at the end of the "vorpal cycle" (as determined by the timer in the middle of the gauge) wins "vorpal" this means for the entire next cycle of the timer, this character is in "vorpal state" which awards a damage increase, and the ability do a "chain shift" which basically stops time for a second allowing you to do a number of things ranging from react easier to attacks, to extend combos. Also doing a CS takes you out of vorpal state and cases out all of your GRD blocks into meter.

Slightly new to Unist so pardon the possible scrub question. First match, why didn't the Phonon player push block when his opponent was rushing him down?
can anyone explain what they mean when they say "vorpal"? I think that's what they're saying. "He gets vorpal". First time I've seen this game and I'm just trying to understand the mechanics
Vincent Newkirk vorpal is the the bar at the bottom and whoever got more activate vorpal. The person who use vorpal can cancel any move (Mid-Combo, Mid-Blockstring, Mid-Super)
i honestly dunno that too, the old version of this game has better in battle portraits, but maybe just cause to make space for the ui cause the old one is also pretty tight

can someone please explain the function of the that bar with the circle between the super counters at the bottom? And is this available on PC?
last Sc no it’s not on PC just PS4 and Vita. About the meter, just google it. I forgot tbh I haven’t played in years
It's a timer to end the GRD war
Essentially, you fill that GRD gauge by being aggressive in combat, and whoever has more of the gauge filled every time the circle timer fills up, they gain an attack boost and the ability to sacrifice the remainder of their gauge for meter and a free cancel.
