As a convert, I absolutely understand. Absolutely. I've distanced myself 20 years ago.
However, I kind of miss being blind. I miss being stupid. I miss believing I was special having been abused and neglected growing up. I miss believing God gave me a new name, a new start.
It is really really hard to lose all that. Shelf breaker. Big shelf breaker. But I'm comfortable knowing God loves every last one of us. That God only wants us to love one another. That's it.
And part of me living others is allowing them to be as blind and stupid as I was. Because they still love God, and they( at the foundation) believe they should be good people and love other people.
Even if " others" is a bit exclusive.
Because God can take the biggest pile of poo and make it about love in the right hands.
But understand that church held my dead children, my children and my loved ones hostage in return for my obedience was a sick realization.

The Lord Jesus said “ It is finished “ when He died on the Cross. That referred to His Death. The full penalty for sin was accomplished. Of course there is more, but not for Atonement. There’s the Resurrection, the Ascension and His Coming Again.
If you want to add anything of your “ good works” to this when you stand before God in judgement, then be ready for a very rude awakening.

@@KnuttyEntertainment since you responded kindly, I’ll do the same for you. I think you may have a poor idea about “Grace alone.” There is a statement in the Book of Mormon that says that “we are saved by Grace AFTER all we can do.” That’s a lot different than by grace alone. The beautiful Truth of “salvation by grace alone,” is the very doctrine that the Roman Catholic Church so vehemently attacked Luther on . They declared that all who believed that were ANATHEMA! Damned to everlasting Hellfire! They even came out with a new “Catechism of The Council of Trent,” to declare it official dogma. But, Luther the great Reformer, did not invent the Truth of salvation by Grace alone, the Holy Spirit declared it in Ephesians 2:8-10; Titus 3:4-7; Galatians 1:3-9.

@bishopleebaker 2 Nephi 25:23 We are saved by Grace after all we can do. This is correct! Because Jesus Christ can not save us in sin, Unless you Lee Baker make God a liar. Did he not say "No unclean thing can enter the kingdom of God"? Jesus Christ's atonement or grace Saves us "from sin, not in sin" Take away "after all we can do" is like saving us in sin. Christ redeemed us from sin and not in sin! The LDS church did not stop after faith, there is repentance, baptism, Be ye therefore perfect, if you love me keep my commandments, obeying all the commandments of God and (not the law of Moses like Circumcision and all else we "boast".

Look at the life of Joseph. Rejected by his brothers, raised to leading the gentile world, appeared to be a gentile to his brothers, brothers came to recognize Joseph during a 7 year time of trouble (Jacob's trouble). @bishopleebaker Could you please provide the complete text on screen for all to examine instead of using a strawman argument, Bishop? I'm curious if Joseph Smith was genuinely boasting or just being honest. In John chapter 6, even Jesus' five thousand disciples deserted Him after He fed them. This is similar to Paul's people. Forgetting the great apostasy? "After his friends apostatized in Nauvoo, Joseph was grateful that the faithful saints stayed with him and never left him, yet. He also had his clerks record everything for him so that he could not be convicted in court."
"The Lord has constituted me so curiously that I glory in persecution. I am not nearly so humble as if I were not persecuted." from the lines that You took offense of. To me and many other faithful LDS, this is not boasting! So now you know! To your credit, many will leave the church, yet many will gather to the LDS church. Joseph Smith has indeed been granted more success than Jesus Christ (,in some ways) because Jesus came to be rejected of men, to be crucified and to die. That was the mission of the Savior in the meridian of time. It was not time for Jesus to rule and reign in glory. This is why the Jews rejected Jesus as their Messiah and still do.
Joseph Smith, on the other hand, was blessed to usher in the last dispensation and the beginning of the Lord's glorious return. This is a mission which must not and can not fail. It will end gloriously.
Read Joseph's entire quotation. It doesn't say what is being quoted (history of the Church volume 6 pages 408-9.
Joseph only says that all the followers of Jesus ran away when He was led away. Joseph boasts about keeping the Church together in spite of persecutions etc.
His words are echoed in D&C 135:3
"Joseph Smith, the Prophet and Seer of the Lord, has done more, save Jesus only, for the salvation of men in this world, than any other man that ever lived in it."

@@RobinSteward-ud5enYou lie. Joseph was married to no one else. Show me any marriage certificate other than Emma. There isn't one. Sealings were members getting sealed to Priesthood leaders in the Early church. Study better!

@@sacredgriftsHe wouldn't care. In fact neither would my Stake President. I make up my own mind and I know the church is true! Wise up!

The LDS church teaches against the use of alcohol. Lee Baker used alcohol and admits it. So you believe a man that has ignored truth and damages his liver with alcohol?

You believe in a man who didn't just drink alcohol but turned water into wine in order to drink it.

Jesus used alcohol, but then, you don't know the true Jesus Christ. Paul recommended wine. Study the Bible and learn the truth.

@@KathyStrickland-nh9vxWrong. There are two types of wine in Biblical times. One is grape juice, the other is rotten. Learn!

@@tucuxi70 I find you to be quite condescending when you are the one that needs to learn. Wine and grape juice are two different things. If they weren't drinking to drunkenness it wouldn't have to be brought up. Don't be afraid to venture out of that box they want to keep you locked in. Knowledge doesn't cause any harm.

@@KathyStrickland-nh9vxNope, study better. Two types of wine. You don't study well.
