Mariya Lasitskene has some competition now. Ever since Yaroslava jumped 2.04m at Doha in the 2019 World Championship, I've been really looking forward to see what she achieves. That jump of 2.04 was only just after her 18th birthday and she's still only 19. So much time for more improvement, she could take women's high jumping to a much higher level, if she continues there way she is going. We are well overdue seeing someone break Stefka Kostadinova's outdoor record.
Lasitskene will have no competition at all if the Russian Federation keeps screwing up. Like c'mon, they going to cut her off of her SECOND Olympic Games. Her winning streak can only take her so far. Doha was amazing!
It sucks Lasitskene would have won 2016 and 2020 Olympics gold medals
She is progressing quicker than I expected. High performances at a young age and possibly WR.
A drug-free world record is coming from these pure talented and beautiful young generation. Hats off to her coach...
It is very rare, two beautiful athletes, from the same Nation "Ukranie" blessed with God given talents in the 'Track and Fields'.Yuliya Levchenko and Yaroslava Mahuchikh are both young and highly talented in "High Jumps".They are both capable of winning medals in the coming "Tokyo Olympic" but they need to works hand in hand with each others.Good luck to both.God bless you!!!!

Yara is exciting to watch. Certainly she has the skill, and keeps improving. Her English is damn cute and a charming presence, and is adored by many. She has to beat the Russian a great jumper, Maria Lasitskene though. She keeps trying on 2.07. Once she cracks that barrier, I think 7' can be hers. I believe Maria will push her. It's going to be great duel!

She wants to put her name into the record books. Also she is not interested to sell herself by showing off her body which is why she one of the few wearing pants that actually cover her ass.

I think that both Yaroslava and Lasitskene will medal in Tokyo. The third medalist is the tough one to predict. It could even be McDermott who is one of the few still rising. Many of these women have reached their personal bests and are not likely to jump higher.

Interesting strategy. I’d call it progress. When she jumped 2.04 in the world championships two years ago, she’d had about 15 jumps. I said at the time that it was remarkable that she came in so early and that she’d had too many jumps. It was probably just inexperience in a major competition. The only reason she got away with it was probably her extreme youth. Dwight Stones has said you peak between about the fifth and the eighth jump (I can’t remember exactly what the number was). If she keeps jumping like this, using this strategy, she should do very well.
As for stopping at 2.06 and not making any more attempts, I don’t see that as a bad thing as others do. You can get greedy at times like that and it shows remarkable maturity to be able to do it.
It doesn't get better, thank you LORD for your creation.
