Loved the game Jerry. All these "obscure" games you find are interesting to me. I dunno what it is, like it's not some Tal esque super sac game but they are just interesting in some unique way hehe Interesting how Anands "quiet" Ne2 led to a crushing kingside attack. And not just kingside attack, but he also managed to crush all counterplay on the Queen side and in the center. Anand really crushed Shirov completely here. As a French player myself(from time to time), I felt this one. It's one of those games that goes completely wrong where you have zero counterplay and no breaks, and white just builds up his pieces and attack while you have nothing and can only wait until he sacs into a crushing attack. It's completely demoralizing. Lol. Shirov probably never played this opening or variation ever again after this
Maybe we'd have more of them if entry to the Candidates came from coming in first in enough other tournaments so that top players would be incentivized to play for wins
Incredible game! I have to say, as good as the game is, it might be entirely useless without your calm and focused analysis. Thank you Jerry once again, you are a master of chess and a master of teaching.
Games like this are why - after decades away but returning to chess in my retirement - I gave up the French in favor of a kingside fianchetto leading to a Modern, Hippo, Pirc or KI defense. That said, it seems that Black castled kingside too soon & should have sealed up queenside with c5-c4 & then castle queenside & pry open W’s Kingside. Still W’s position is remarkably flexible because the center is locked up, so it’s not clear Black can keep the Queenside sealed. Still with opposite castling it’s a race and anything can happen. Clearly, Vishy did his homework here a crushed Shirov in style.
Interesting game,... May be someone can help me (analysis), in position after black move : 1. ... c5xd4 2. c3xd4 f6xe5 3. f4xe5 Nd7xe5 4. d4xe5 (in video minute 5:14), suppose black continued with 4. ... Nc6xe5, what white best response ? (because if white reply with 5.Nf3xe5, then black can give check Qb6-f2+)
This super natural talent was replaced by a fan boy which turned the world of chess into puppet show.thank you for the delightful analysis and the great insight.
Anand has definitely dabbled in the dark arts. Keep working sir
Love how he activated the queen's bishop with the pawn sacrifice.
I feel free, as usal, to say thanks - mate and click the like button. Excellent as always Jerry, keep em coming I can´t get enough.
Thank you 👍

Great video, one of the more advanced chess channels on YT
Love the vids jerry! Are you going to stream the Casablanca Games at all?
Thank you. No, I don’t think so.
Brilliant game and analysis
Both b5 pawn sacrifices just to avoid the queenside opening up in black's favor were very instructive
Great play through. Thanks!!
Anand sir played this game in the style of old masters.
Beatiful game! I miss games like these in today's chess. Bringing in the black square bishop was amazing.

Thanks Jerry with your wonderful analysis
what a clean win
That was brilliant by Vishy, reminded me how big a fan of him I was then. Thanks Jerry.
definitely took a thing or two away
👍😎
Excellent presentation.
Nice job making a complex game accessible to lower rated players. Anand was just relentless!
👍
Great presentation; thank you for sharing.
Positional pawn sacrifice coming across for the first time, thanks ❤
Thx Jerry 😊
"Like a glove" Ace Ventura
TY GM 👍
Such a beautiful line thanks Jerry
Thank you very useful to me
As usual this is a fantastic lecture by Jerry and makes Anand's play look so simple and inspiring! Well done Jerry ✌
Another fantastic chess experience.

This game is very nice, thanks

Yes he is 😎

Sweet deal
A beauty
1:55 - what about Qa4 ?
But you want your queen for kingside attack
On the other hand, you'd be able to stop pawn capture, and then push the knight back with b5..
I like your voice. ❤
Mikhail Tal would approve.
Algorithm bump

I don't think black has a follow up after the check so white cam just take back
Great
Anand beating again.. Amazing..
It always amazes me that people are capable of calculating lines that. I simply can’t comprehend it 🤯
👌
Poor knight...knight got 'knight'mare
