Oh. My. Goodness! Michele, you've done it again and blew my mind! I just scored a bag of oil pastels for 59 cents and have been learning how to use them but I think this may be my favorite way. I'm going to try this! Thank you for the idea and the tips.❤
This was ace Michele. I love the texture achieved with the pastels. I'm getting quite a list of your videos to try out, but this will definitely be added to that list.
That was very, very interesting... and the textured look is so beautiful. I agree, the sky looks very lively, and the color of the mountain behind contrasts very well with the green and yellows up front. I used to do something kind of similar a long time ago - I would use crayons, like the ones for kids, to draw/shade in things on a canvas (because of the texture), and then I would use very, very watered down acrylic paint to fill in the gaps. It does create a unique look. Thank you for sharing this. I always learn something, even when it's not the style I currently work in.
Hi, Michele and Mr. Black kitty.😊 What a lovely mixed media painting. I think I have some oil pastels somewhere, and I will try this out myself. Also, I would be interested in Inktense pencils tutorials. Thank you.🎉❤
I never thought about using watercolor with oil pastels. I have a few oil pastels so I will give this a go. Interesting way of using masking tape to get your mountain range in. I would love to see some videos using Inktense. I have some pencils but I just received their pan paint #2 set and pastel set of watercolors so I'm excited to try them out as well.
Really good as I was just cleaning my oil pastels. Great timing! Hope I can get the photo too. Your interpretation is very good. More mixed media or Inktense, in fact I’m a fan of all you teach. Thanks.
Awhile ago I didn't even know what mixed media was! This will be fun to try out. I am interested in discussing how aspects of a media lend themselves (eg as you noted for avoiding drying lines). I'm currently getting familiar with granulating watercolor and wondering how they would interact with oil pastel. Also when to use iridescent oil pastels. And wondering how to use both regular and inktense watercolor pencils in the same painting. I have tried this last idea, betting that the inktense would resist lifting and then using regular watercolor pencils much like regular nonstaining watercolor pigments for later glazes where I might want to make adjustments.
Beautiful Thanks a lot for helping us. I wanted to ask one question. I am confused between permanent Alizayrian crimson and Alizayrian crimson watercolor. Which one should I buy?? Any help plz Thx
Alizarin Crimson is a fugitive pigment (means it fades). Permanent Alizarin Crimson is a modern version reformulated to avoid fading. Sometimes original pigments are more beautiful but if you want to avoid fading choose a permanent one :-)
