New Maremma Sheepdog!

In this video, you meet our new Maremma sheepdog puppy, and future livestock guardian dog, Leo! We show you his training progress and how he behaves around our barn cat, ducks, and chickens. He is a 5 month old pup, and the future protector of our poultry.

Thanks for the video. We just brought our maremma home, he is 10 months and doing great with our chickens. Sheep are still unsure about him. We have struggled with sleeping arrangements, he doesnt like a stall in the barn with the sheep so he's been on our porch. Any tips on getting him comfortable being in the barn?

Does he live with the ducks? Ours is 3 months old but only sleeps near our house

He does not live directly with our ducks yet, but that is the ultimately plan! He lives full time with our flock of katahdin sheep. In the past few months the ducks and chickens have gotten into the dog/sheep pen and he has done great with them, paying them no mind.. so we think he is almost ready to be with the poultry full time! He is over 1.5 years old though.. I definitely would reccomend waiting to have your 3 month old puppy live with poultry until they’re a bit older and more out of the puppy phase.. atleast from our experience.
