How we nerfed the tokens is really simple...first and foremost the instructions that come with the game are unclear or ambiguous about what happens in certain scenarios, and in those cases we took liberties and made our own house rules, especially with these fire and ice tokens. So how we interpreted the rules and how we play is we simply let the tokens replace eachother. Stuck in place with an ice token? If you draw a move fire token, you can, if you so choose, replace the ice token on your piece with the fire token you just drew. The ice token goes back in the middle. Vice versa with the fire token....if you draw an ice token you may replace your opponent's fire token if you choose. That player then becomes stuck and the fire token goes back in the middle. This keeps the game moving and makes sure that no one player stays too powerful or weak for too long.
The movement of that Fire token is so ridiculously powerful, I expected that, if you make it to your home with the Fire token, it "burns down" your home and forces you to move any pawns that were already in the home out onto the start again. So it'd be a crazy "high risk, high reward" feature that could actually end up punishing you. But I think this version would be too frustrating for kids.
I love Sorry. It's in my collection now. On this updated version I completely agree with everything you said about the new additions to this classic, even though I haven't played it. Side note, I really like the boards new design.

I really like the old sorry the best. I bought this game years ago not knowing it was the fire and ice. It took 4 adults about 6 to 7 hours to figure this game out, only after watching your video did we understand it.lol.
Just got the game, not the oldest version, but the one before this one without the fire and ice. Your instructions were more Helpful than the actual instructions in the game. But my question is how do you know which pawn to move. Thanks for the information
And, how do you handle these two situations 1. Your two pawns are home and one is on the track. you pick a fire card but, you cannot move two forward since there is an opponent's iced pawn on that square. so, do you forfeit your turn or just use the fire up and ignore moving forward 2. when you have fire up, can you CHOOSE to jump to the nearest fire on EVERY turn or you have to mandatorily jump (unless there is an iced pawn on a fire square) already) EVERY turn?
So if you have the fire token and you pull a fire card do you remove the token to the middle or a different pawn of yours or just keep the token I'm confused
When opponent draws a Sorry card and takes your pawn (with a Fire token), or lands on your pawn with Fire token, what happens to the Fire token. Does it go to your opponent or back to the middle of the board?

Yes, the fire and ice power ups are wierd. And, the instructions aren't good enough. Your video gave some clarity. I have a few questions though 1. If I first pick a ice card and freeze an opponent, how does the game work in the following scenarios a. I pick the second ice card b. The opponent picks the second ice card c. can I freeze the opponent pawn with fire power up 2. After the opponent reaches home with a fire up, does the fire token come to the center and other players can use it to for rest of the game? 3. If the pawn with fire up power of the opponent is in his safety zone and I pick fire card, do I get the fire power up? 4. should the home be counted separately or the last point to reach is the pentagon shape just before home? 5. suppose I pick a fire card, then I pick the pawn on which I need the fire power-up. same question as above, what happens if a. an opponent picks the next fire card b. if I pick the next fire card
a. Ice still has to move, but you decide where else b. They have to move the ice to any where else c. Yes 2. Ya, the fire token is still fair game for everyone 3. Yes 4. I count the home as a spot 5. Same answers as 1

However, if the player with fire up picks another fire card, I think it is their choice to move it or not since the rules say "MAY move the fire from its cur rent location." I read it somewhere and I thought it made sense. For the ice card, the rules say "MUST"

As long as a piece is out of your home and it can move the full number of spaces it can move.
So if you have all your pieces out you can pick.
i guess that you get rid of your fire token when you got to the last spot where your home is
what if the fire token made your pawn burns others by walking by, ice cannot be replace but can replace fire tokens
What happens if a opponents pawn is in the fire spot ? Can I still use the fire square with my fire token

if you land on your own piece you CAN'T or CAN bump yourself back to start?
What if you have fire but some one lands on you...do you get to knock back home and the fire gets taken away? Or are you safe because your on fire???
They still knock you back and take away the fire I believe

In original sorry some of the slides have a tiny arrow at the end. Do you slide onto that arrow space?
