I noticed there is both a male & female USB port on the flight recorder. Could you use a USB memory stick in addition to the flight recorder and set video to be recorded to the USB stick?
I can confirm - with the qgroundcontrol you really have full autonomy - it just does whatever is predefined (be careful to set enough height for every waypoint though)
Hey Lon, I'm going to buy one of theses parrot drones but I don't know which one to get! I'm trying to decide between this AR. 2.0 GPS Drone or wait until the release of the newly announced AR. Bebop Drone. Could you give me your opinion? Thanks! - Oscar
***** Thank you. I was having trouble finding the map on Freeflight, but I tapped on the GPS icon and it popped up. Downloaded QGroundcontrol as well. Gonna' be fun!
Hi, Just got one of these and very happy with it (apart from only 14 min from a 2000mah battery) Question:- If I fly vertically up until wifi is lost, what happens as I wouldn't be able to regain a connection (without a ladder anyway!) Would it just hover until the battery dies?
Have you tried pushing it to the edge of the Wi-Fi link with the recorder running? Will it automatically return home when it loses its link rather than hover hopelessly (and wait for you to talk under it) as it does without the GPS adapter?)
I just got this and Im hoping it works better than it has been, mine has a mind of its own it hovers for a bit then when I go to fly it it just takes off from me and is non responsive until i hit land… getting so sick of it. Any tips? Ive learned how to reset and recalibrate etc.
I wonder if it uses a lot of power the flight recorder guess what I am saying compare with and without using the flight recorder how much less time you have to fly . but I guess if one gets this be a good ideal to upgrade the battery any way . as of now I only have the 1000mah battery . I seen they make 2500mah does any one recommend it or any good products far as battery's . thank you for the video helps out
Hey Lon how about a video of the windows setup and how to set up com setting and connecting the drone ive tried everything and cant get it to do anything Please help us rookies lol
Does the AR Drone 2.0 use the GPS Flight Recorder to stabilize itself in the air? Similar to the function of the Phantom 2, when your not using way points and just manually flying it.
Thx for all the replies guys. I've concluded that the most likely answer is that, the ar drone doesn't use the GPS Flight Recorder to stabilize, but it will use the 60FPS bottom ground mapping camera to try and stabilize. If it was to use GPS, it should automatically return to it's set position before.
is the drone recording to usb automatically with Qgroundcontrol ? How do you set the drone to record during a mission to the USB stick or to the 4GB flight recorder ? Thanks !
+Bernek If a usb drive (formatted FAT32) is plugged into the Flight recorder is will use that. To use the internal memory you have to remove the drive.
+Everett Rantanen Yeah I've noticed that. Thanks a lot ! I also used UgCS and you can set recording to start at beginning (take off for example). In my opinion UgCS is better than Qgroundcontrol but it's not free. (well you get a free option but AGL is 120m and radius of maximum 500m)
+Everett Rantanen You should give it a try then :) I'm testing it for a couple of flights and had no problem so far. Make sure you read the manuals when you can. The comercial license seems to be for greater and more capable drones but ar drone 2.0 should be ok for a 15-18 minute flight with 2000 or 2300 mAh batteries. This time is windy in my country and I don't want to risk too much. I'm sure I will be able to do 2km+ flights with UgCS and new batteries. We will se about that further in spring.
do i need any internet connection when i try to make the gps route or could i just go out with my ipad and fly the gps route without any internet connection.only with the connection to the parrot?pls reply ! :)
How fast can u regain manual control in the event of their buggy firmware and useless ultrasonic sensor decide to autonomously go nuts and fly into someone's face?
Is there any good drones what has good battery life and can go pretty far but doesn't cost like the phantom 3? Really want one and I like the parrot but 10min battery and only so much off the ground isn't as good :(
This is absolutely what I've been waiting for to buy a Drone. I wonder...if you took out the brains and built your own drone with better range, speed, etc....buahahahaha haha haaaa ha....ha
Thanks for the link, I'm reading about it now! These are fun times for sure!

Thanks, great video. Is it possible to create a flight plan and save it to repeat the same flight again in the future?
Could you tell me the name of the app that is needed? Thank you!

***** Thanks again for making these videos... Very helpful!

Does the drone need WIFI for the entire flight or will it continue without WIFI to the waypoints?

Can you show how to recalibrate ???

Can the autonomous flying operate outside the wifi zone?
Does the app also work on iPad or just on your usual iPhone?

I'm thinking of getting one of these but the camera doesn't look to good.
Is there a certain distance the drone can go
does the GPS help with keeping it in one spot?
Actual multirotor? So I'm just imagining the AR drone?
When at home go to maps in free flight store the map were your going to fly and you can see it
How does the map work? Does it use Google Earth, or something else?
Thanks
Hello! what happens when we get no signal with your smartphone?
How I do connection of GPS in AR Drone 1.0
Is it work with iPod touch too?

***** I see, so it does try to stabalize itself. But it won't return to the same spot it was hovering at if blown hard by the wind.

I got 2500 man batteries for mine, plenty of flight time, also balance connector so I can use with my iMac b6ac!
mah
When will the Android App be uptodate?
thank you for the video explanation of the gps.

k thanks for the reply !!
´you can connect the ipad to your phone
I see the bird investigating the 'Drone'! They do that with mine, too..

When you use a GPS Can you Go out of the Drone wifi range??
Thank you :D

Really want one and I like the parrot but 10min battery and only so much off the ground isn't as good :(
take a look at the parrot bebop drone :-) (^o^)
I've checked them out and for that price I might aswell put extra 100 or so towards phantom :(
Thanks for the reply though
you can also buy the bebop drone without sky controller and it cost 500 then en it still goes pretty far away
great video, thanks!
why not put the case on it??!!!!
max leenders parrot advises you to not put the case over it
Ar drone is cool as a little toy, but if you want an actual multirotor you should definitely invest in something else.
That's amazing.
Where can I get the flight recorder
plz
Pretty much, yeah. Go on my channel and just watch one of the vids. Then try to do that with the ar drone.
Good luck :)

Horrible camera (big jello effect)
