No wonder Tokentakker wanted his brain for the gun wielding gorilla thing. He'd have been an absolute beast. Probably would slaughter the townsfolk and get Ludwig his revenge. Theres still many questions and mystery to this wonderful game. If only there were ways to know more.
Hell yeah! If The House of The Dead is getting this kind of love with its remakes, then other classics like CarnEvil need the same treatment... Hell i'd like to see a remaster of Crypt Killer.
Oh hell yeah. It needs to be a prequel where how it all began. How was Umlaut created, and what caused the Tokkentaker to become so sinister. The total history of CarnEvil.
@@YourFoxFriendYTthe water park is just blood filled and the tunnel of love is full of zombie Betty's that wanna steal your heart literally that would be awesome
i still love the devious concept of: inserting coins into the machine, "you" are the one resurrecting this carnival. i also remember the alternative boss to junior, "deaddy" from when you made the game more "kid friendly"
As a fan of this game, I totally ate up every second of this video. I have great memories of going to my local county fair and going into the arcade tent just to play this game and watch others play this game, unfortunately I never got to fight Ludwig... From time to time, I'd see the game at other arcades or venue, even with broken light guns, I'd still play. 😅 Love the coin replicas, wish I attended to get one. 😆
I remember playing this game as a kid around 10yrs old in 99/00. One of my favorite games. My dad would give my 10 bucks in tokens while he went to the batting cages. Only beat it like once. I knew it took coins like crazy but it was still fun. Left a few very prominent memories in my head like the noise the mechanic guys in the freak show made. I miss those days, now excuse me while I get up for work at 4am. Time flies!
Kevin's rendition of "Center Ring" and the Calliope music was par excellence. I cant think of any other video game piece that captures the essence of circus excitement so well, as is the timing of the ambulance clowns after you fall.
@35:25 really shows how awesome this game was. The whole crew made that? LOL. Like being in a funny ass cult who loves what they've created. We all loved it too. Such passion.
Holy crap dude! What a pleasure! Kevin Quinn's music in this game was top notch. Seeing this game was absolutely a scale for its time and I wish it received more attention. I wish the whole gang was together. I'd love to see the programmers. They never get any love. Nobody knows how much pressure there was for an arcade to work well compared to today's ease. Crunch for sure! So cool to see everything!!! Thank you for this video and thank you for the memories!!!
I would love to play a remake/remaster of this game for all consoles available now (not just last generation)!! If they ever do it I would love to see the stages and bonus sections that never made it like.... THE FORTUNE TELLER BONUS, THE ALTERNATIVE ROUTES ON EACH LEVEL, MORE WEAPONS, MORE SUB BOSSES AND of course the 2 Levels that didn't make it in the game (THE pirate cove stage and the halloween Theme/pumpkin patch stage)
If anyone wants to know people have been able to get some of the models and textures from the first part of the hard drive in this game so that means people can do fan creations with it now. I love this game, made a sort of remake for it but it wasn't very good tbh but you can get it on gamejolt.
I love all of this work, i do feel i need to correct though, Norwegian does not have the umlaut symbol, Swedish does though. I do wish all of this art was available online as high quality scans, this is history that deserves to be documented and preserved.
You guys should convince him to either scan these as a pdf to release online or sell via dark horse's video game art book collection. I'd love to buy a copy of this book especially with added dev notes
12:51 Huh. That coin looks awful familiar. I don't mean from the game. I mean that design for a physical version of that coin was made by me. And I know it's my design because the closest font I found for "Game Over" had reversed dark and light sections, resulting in a different design from the original. There's even an 8 year old video on my channel where you can see me talking about the design. watch?v=pr_lLR_f0q4 Now, I made that design available online for free. So without a doubt they took my design and 3D printed it, and now the creator of the game held it in his hand. So that's pretty cool. Though, when he says you can only get it at Prince Arcades... that's not exactly true.
I would love to see this become a PC port or remake. Of course, I do think that it should come out on consoles too, but I think PC would lend itself greatly to allowing quicker reaction times and the like, making the experience more 'in the player's control' and more fun as a whole. Admittedly though, as much as I would love to experience this as a rail shooter again (as I have so, so, so many times) I would love to be able to explore CarnEvil as kind of its own location...I don't know why, I would just love the idea of being able to see the entire facility of CarnEvil built from the ground up in a 3D environment.
Carnevil has always been one of my all time favourite games this video is amazing thank you so much for letting me see the guys who made such an important part of my childhood. Also can someone please get him to scan in the artwork it belongs in a museum we can bearly see any of it in this video
This is so cool! Those dudes made one of the most memorable arcade games of all time! Used to play the shit out of it at the old palisade arcade in my hometown.
My god this video is soooo oOoOO good!!!!!!! Because it has removed stuff I've never seen in carnevil like water chapter piranhas new enemys I've never seen in the game and I wish I could like a thing removed from rickety town man I wish I cold see what this would look like if all of this removed stuff is so cool!!!!!!! @@robertoaguirre1862 CarnEvil was enough to get a home port and emulated perfectly on MAME, but Johnny Nero Action Hero was never ported to home consoles or emulated on MAME because of the arcade's decline at the time and the suicide battery that prevents Johnny Nero's game board with hard drive from emulating it.
How about do a remake rather than just celebrate a game that no one knows but those that grew up with it ? I swear aside from those that grew in the 90s no one knows about this game.
