Father, may everything that I do this day, whether it be full of joy or pain, whether it be full of love or of grief, I ask that everything I go through today be offered to you just like Jesus offered everything to you. It is in his name we pray. Amen. 11/28/2023.
An awesome episode that shows how we must pray like we do the things that will bring eventual results - exercise, healthy eating, practicing a skill, etc. Also, the power of a prayer to change our heart and our mind is incredible and we mustn't forget it. This was a great reminder of it. Our heart is where all the decisions are made and all sins start, thus, praying daily helps us to keep our heart well maintained and connected with God. Elijah's example is important too. Thank you so much Fr. Mike and Team Ascension! I'm praying for you all and for the fellow listeners. God bless
Day 332..! Prayer Converts Our Heart Sitting at Adoration. I am 2 Rosaries in… 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 This fits so perfectly in that it is ‘converting my heart’ after the day I had..! 😔😔😔 God is so good..! I cannot WAIT to hear you again..! I am praying for all of you. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Please pray for me. God bless. ❤❤❤
Just do it, it’s so important to pray, sometimes it’s wonderful and sometimes it’s just something I have to get done but I believe our guardian angel will help purify our prayers if we ask them ❤
It is external to tap my fist to my chest at the Mass where I confess my sins. It's internal when I when I grieve for the life I've lived and, with each thrust of my fist I say the 'through my fault,' formerly the 'mea culpa.' That grief, that regret, comes from the very heart that I pound. Much like the penitent at the Temple who simply says, "Oh, Lord, be merciful to me, a sinner."
Blessings to all in CIY FAMILY! ❤️🙏❤️ St. Ambrose says there is something for everyone in the Book of Psalms: “profit for all, healing power for salvation, instruction from history, teaching from the law, prediction from prophecy, chastisement from denunciation, persuasion from moral preaching. All who read it may find the cure for their own individual failings.” The Psalms are a “gym for the soul” where I can exercise and strengthen every virtue
Sometimes we need to make an effort to "Fake it 'til we make it" ... even if we don't yet understand, we trust, & therefore we try... Amen!😇🥰 [11.28.2023]
I’m 60 yrs old & I’ve noticed consistently when I use my gift from the Holy Spirit to pray in tongues, I increase my appetite for the life of the Holy Spirit to manifest the joy of my father, in the life of Jesus in me to develop the authority of my three spheres of influence as a priest A prophet, and A king Between heaven and earth! Saint Paul was commissioned to establish our foundation as Gentiles to know how to enter into this gift of prayer, and why I love reading the Catholic epistles from that perspective that we were considered dogs even in the language, Jesus used with his own tribe, but we’re grafted in as “wild branches” (Rom 11) to become a greater Fruitful explosion of the olive tree of Israel! This was made clear to me by a Native American chief from Alaska, who prayed over me in 2013 as a Hebrew Catholic, that as an arborist, I would grow in this greater sensitivity of being naturally supernatural with God’s order from the land. His name is Dr Suuqinna, and he made it clear to me that there actually is a practice in Israel of grafting wild olive branches from outside of Jerusalem, especially from the northern part of Israel that fires up the natural olive tree when it is in dormancy to produce fruit when it normally would not!
Greeting! Everyone Greetings!! Pray, Pray, Pray, with genuine heart centered in God. Pray like prophet Elijah!! at Mount Carmel for Epiclesis for our oblation at the Mass. Psalter means praises to God. The psalms teach us how to pray. For people of God the temple is the place education and prayer. We are Baptized we have one and one encounter with God. Let us pray and thank Fr Mike Schmitz, all the Clergy, seminarians, and all of us in the CIY community together with all our neighbors too. Amen!
As christians we must have complete trust in our Heavenly Father. Even as we struggle in life. As I constantly struggle to provide for my two autistic children I keep faith. Faith is all I have. It is truly the only armor against the enemy. As a single mom things are hard on me. My health is fading I suffered a heart attack two years ago and I’m battling lupus. Every month is a struggle to get by. I struggle to pay rent and struggle to buy groceries it’s disheartening. But God lifts me up everyday. He has carried me this far. No matter how hard my financial struggles are I will praise Jesus! I will keep faith because I believe that Jesus is King.
Amen. I understand about going through the motions. I felt that way years ago. However, after awhile, whenever I do not pray and more so nowadays when I don't go to Mass, I do not feel right. My heart yearns for prayers and Mass, that is. I feel completely at peace and ready to tackle the day ahead of me. Praise be to God, and to Him be All the Highest Glory ❣️ Thank you so much Fr. Mike and Ascension. As always, I am praying for all of you. God Bless 🙏🏻
Thank you Father Mike and the rest of the Ascension crew. To the prayer community, please pray for my loved one's M, K, I and J. Praying for you all, in Jesus' name.
We are called "To live as we pray and pray as we live." Just as Elijah and the prophets called for a conversion of heart to God in worship and prayer, in our churches, we have the Mass with prayers and offerings where *God Most High is also the God Most Near. As people of the New Covenant our worship has to come from a true conversion of our heart and mind - being good, just, and merciful. Behavior changes our beliefs. Let us allow the rituals to actually pierce our hearts, get past the surface into the depths, whether we feel like it or not. Over time something will change to touch our heart to draw light and strength for our mission. Prayer is attentiveness to God's Word by which we receive strength and support, insight and wisdom from God. An honest prayer, whether complaining or arguing with God, must be intercession, as God hears us, he cares for us and is very near to us. 🙏 😊 🙏 🙌 😇 ❤
What a beautiful prayer 🙏 Thank you, AGAIN, Fr. Mike, for capturing what I feel, my concerns, and my thoughts, in words, I, myself, have trouble conveying. God bless you, Fr. Mike. May he hold you in the palm of His hand. Bless all at Ascension
Thank you, Fr Mike. This is quite clear. I also like what you said about praying not running away from the world. Instead, it's attentiveness to the Word of God. I like that very much. Prayer isn't an escape as much as it is refuge.
The prophets drew from prayer the light and strength to exhort the people to faith and to conversion of heart. They entered into great intimacy with God and interceded for their brothers and sisters to whom they proclaimed what they heard from the Lord. Elijah was the father of the Prophets, of those who sought the face of God. The Psalms are the summit of prayer in the Old Testament: the Word of God becomes the prayer of man. The Psalms have remained an essential and permanent element of the prayer of the Church suited to people of every condition and time. Praise the Lord. 🙏
I noticed that evangelical churches have schools of the Prophet now more vividly than ever before, and yet you never hear of any of that kind of training for us, Catholics to grow in our prophetic call of simply applying our daily privilege of the liturgy of the word to become a living prophet of our day!
Greetings Father Mike, Thoughts :- -> Message reflect with, "The Holy Essence of Spiritual Devotion in Lord Jesus Christ in every sense in all aspects of Life." -> Pristine Words, Father.. Thanks Team CIY, Team Ascension Press. With Prayers, Ranjith Joseph (R.J)
But yet, there are so many ex Catholics who went thru the motion of daily rosary, mass etc who today have become vibrant Protestants. How to understand this?
Why are there not psalms in the New Testament? When the Son of Man is revealed to us shouldn't there be an outpouring of inspiration to write hymns of joy? I look at the beloved hymns we sing and the songs of morning and evening prayer to be psalms of the New Testament. These become our prayer to which we pray twice in song as St Augustine alludes. Maybe one day a select number of songs will be included in the cannon of the Bible as the New Testament Psalms. I see it as a befitting juxtaposition of the Old and New Testaments.
Whilst the Hebrews did have the temple to learn to pray they also had all their home based liturgies eg the shabbat and passover etc (fron which the mass came) who's principle celebrant was the father of the household. Its typical that this element is ignored in favour of temple worship. The mass was not temple based initially it was home based. I think to ignore this is due to a clerical mindset which elevates the ordained priesthood and downplays the priesthood of all believers and the spiritual dignity of the laity. This needs to be rebalanced in the Catholic church. Don't get me wrong, I love the mass and would attend daily if that was available in my parish, but this emphasis on temple worship does not give a true picture of the prayer of the people of Israel. It was not the only place where they prayed. In fact the vast majority of the population probably rarely went to the temple except on the prescribed feasts if they could whereas they prayed at the synagogue and then weekly at home in the shabbat 'liturgy'. I would also say that it's just not true to say that the temple is where we learn how to pray as if its the only place. I learned how to pray from my father, I learned how to pray from my community and the community leaders, I learned how to pray from scriptures and all sorts of other places and people including the 'temple' worship-which of course is the highest form of prayer.
Thanks Fr Mike
God Bless Fr. Mike!
Perseverance in desolation. I pray every day for perseverance.
God bless Father Mike
God bless my brothers and sisters in Christ and all who seek the face of God.
