I'm fascinated. Motor and battery are integrated perfectly into the frame. One of the finest e-bikes in recent years. It is a technical highlight. The future has begun. Thank you for this great video Court.
Nice, glad you're enjoying it! Feel free to chime in with details on what works or doesn't longer term. I'm getting one soon as well, hoping to learn more about the Brose motor system
My LBS talked the specialized Demo day’s guy to give them the comp they were using in BC to do demo’s,they showed it to me,I bought it on the spot, they gave me a deal it being a demo,500 off. They are hard to get up here, all sold out.I was lucky.Got 500 plus km of single track mountain,It’s awesome. The phone app is great,Mission Control GPS,motor controls like no other emtn bikes.Specialized hit a homer with this bike.
Wow I really think you sold me on this. I have been falling in love with this bike the more I learn about it and the app control combined with the longevity of the setup make this bike a no-brainer
Good reviews. I notice below you mention wanting to test it on a trail. Another comment shared a friend's experience with the bike being fragile. I'm tried of seeing E-Bike reviews (and other things) where someone stands around and talks about the product. It's not 'coming soon,' IT'S RIGHT THERE. Part of not wanting perhaps the one example of a product they want to sell as new is not getting it scraped up on a real ride, but that's what we all want to do and what we want the bike to be able to do. You have really interesting conversations with people who seem to really know what they're talking about--that's cool. I'm learning a lot You seem to really know E-Bikes.I'll bet you already have general list of what it takes to test and review an E-bike. It would be good to say, Hey, I'd really like to review your bike, here's my list of what I want to do when I review. If it's a mountain bike, I want to ride it on a trail. If I can't take it on a trail, I'm going to say that in the review. You have 58,000 subscribers, there are 140,000 E-bikes in the US (I think), I'll bet your videos are being watched by at least 80% of people who want to buy an E-Bike. I'm one. Some of the videos (not your's) I've started to watch (and then closed) are just PR nonsense, some looking for investors. There's a place for that, but not when they're titled '5 best 2016 E-Bikes". That's an outright lie. Nothing on such a video should be believed. They started with an outright lie--where do you think they're headed? You're young, you're honest, the world and many individuals are corporate and corrupt. Complete garbage is being sold to consumers with almost complete impunity. A new area like E-bikes is not going to do well if a significant percentage of E-Bikes are bad designs, oversold and unloaded on people. In computing new things grew rapidly when the product got a Killer App. Automobiles and trucks! really took off with the Model T. E-bikes can be like that, but there are different types of bicycles. I want a cross country bike, but not a trail bike, some people just want a commuter bike. In each of these areas there will be a few models that when someone gets one, they'll be happy, their friends and work mates will be interested and it will spread. There will be a lot of models that don't work, that break down, that are not what people wanted, and those friends and work mates will say, 'Well that was a costly mistake...' and that's where it will end.
Here is a crazy idea. Use mid-body engine and internal-gear hub in the back. What do you guys think? It would look much cleaner and the chain wouldn't be abused as much.
Yeah, I've seen a couple Bosch powered ebikes that do this, looks great and shifts well. I think Grace made one of them but not sure how available it is right now in the USA? Here's the review, it's more of an urban setup: electricbikereview.com/grace/mx-ii-urban/
i work at a bike shop, The Trek store in Santa rosa california, and my mechanics always hate having to swap cables cuz its quite difficult to feed them through the frame without possibly cross feeding them. external for easier maintenance, internal for aero, just look up our Trek Madone 9.9. no cable bike.
+Mateo Sheerin Interesting... I have always wondered about cable maintenance/replacement, I can see how it might be difficult. It's cool that with the Levo the cables are easy to reach once the battery is off but still hidden when it's on :)
Your reviews are awesome and so thorough. Thank you for making these videos. Any chance you can review the Bolt M1 anytime soon? I am strongly considering one but would like your input.
+Loc Trinh Hey Loc! I'm in touch with them and hoping to review it in a couple of months? Maybe a month and a half... wish it could be sooner for you :/
The only reason im shying away from this model is that im just not an app fan and need a simplistic hands on alternative. Am i the only one who's not an electronics/Apps add on enthusiast with e-MtnBikes? Mind you there was no such thing as anyone owning a personal computer when i started highschool, "So keep it simple for us middle age types Specialized" Otherwise NICE JOB !
+vibe2light Yeah, I prefer the Bosch Intuvia or Impulse displays to none. The app thing just hasn't resonated with me yet, I don't want to have to tack my phone to the bars and run its battery down and get distracted (or break my phone). But I do want to be able to change assist easily or see how much battery is left... I could get used to the Levo minimal display setup and "forget" its electric, I think that's why they designed it like this.
Doesn't it indicate the battery level and level of assist using lights on the side though? I mean I'm sure any half experienced rider could take a quick look and press the button to see what level of assist they are in or how much battery is left? Still though even a very small display as an option would be nice.
I would like to invite the EBR crew to my home in Palos Verdes (rolling hills) to review a bike anytime or go for a ride. We live at the top of the hill and would have access to amazing views on either the Catalina/ocean side of the hill or the LA city downtown/malibu side. Great trails all around. Shaun
In the market for this bike, on your site, the expert is recommended not this one. At this price point, would you recommend another Full Suspension E-bike? I'm a short person, so small size is important, I know some brands only make M to L sizes. Thanks for all your reviews!
the Bosch system is nicer smoother, buttery shifting, nice intuvia dash .not dissing the Levo,I want a levo, but I don’t have the time to ride all the bikes I have already.Nice bike.
Have you tried the Levo? I own a Bosch e-bike and I thought they were the gold standard. Turns out, not so much - the Levo is super smooth, maybe even more than the Bosch.
i bought a Levo full sus fattie I haven’t ridden the Cube since got it 1000km on the levo all mtn single track, fire road,I can’t tell you how much I like it,well worth the money.but ya I have a hell of a lot of bikes to ride, haha
Cube 140 Stereo Bosch,KrankedXX Santa Cruz Carbon Nomad,Ibis SL,Specialized Carbon Crux,Cannonade Flash Carbon 29er,Enve,Kona BU SS29er,too many more to mention and then a bunch of KTM’s
+Adrian Hjelle Yeah... in my opinion this review kind of sucks because I couldn't actually ride the bike off road. I have done a lot more test rides with true uphill terrain on the Haibikes because I got to visit the company headquarters and go nuts. In this case I just swung by a local shop that got the Levo and there were no trails nearby and the bike was new so I'm not sure they would let me get it dirty :/
I feel like you need a part two on this bike - for example, this begs for a Bosch camparison, Court -- was Brose as good? You mentioned instant response. Any more about that ? Just when I thought I was tired of black frames along comes this super bad bike! Nice design even omits garish brand name call outs - no bright labels is more trick - and that bottom bracket is wicked! Just noticed you reviewed last year (on electric bike review.com) electricbikereview.com/specialized/s-works-turbo-levo-fsr-6fattie/
+ForbinColossus Yeah, last year I covered the S Works (I think... very little feedback or support covering it), I felt like I was overly critical then so it was cool to see the Comp. I also reviewed the Expert but it's not live yet, for that one we go through the app. More companies will be using Brose soon since it looks so nice but my favorite system is still Bosch followed by Impulse.
@Electricbikereview.com - Do you know how 18650 batteries would work out with an ebike, i got a regular mt. bike and road bike and plan on getting the 48v 1000w rear hub motor kit and i've been wondering about the batteries cause the kit don' come with batteries so i want to make my own ebike battery pack to wire both serial and parallel for power and range. cheaper too
+Cody196's Gaming Center Sounds awesome, I haven't packed a battery myself but many of the purpose built and kits out there use 18650 cells just like electric cars. You could always buy an ebike specific battery from a company that sells kits like E-Rad, Electric Bike Outfitters or one of the others but be careful with charging and plug connectors so you don't end up ruining the cells or worse, with a fire: electricbikereview.com/tag/kits/
Can I travel and do E-bike reviews with you? I've got a nice Sony camcorder and I'm building a mid drive cyclone set up right now. I'm a roofer by trade but I'd rather be doing e-bike reviews, builds, and videos. Do you have any other job or is this all you do?
Hi Garrett! Thanks for the interest, I'm doing this full time right now but kind of bootstrapping it :) would be great to have some video/ride support. Feel free to contact me through the EBR website: electricbikereview.com/contact/
+ElectricBikeReview.com not at all, I should have said a Seattle commuter :-). I'm not sure I can commute on something like that. I currently have a haibike Superace, thanks to you, but now I want something for winter as well.
Thanks for the heads up, this was a new area for me. I usually obey them but might have missed it? Also, if it was in a parking lot I might have blown it based on private property and clear views
I rode this as a demo on a public road and was unimpressed. The power cut out and I was 5 miles from the shop at the bottom of a hill. So I had to push this 50 pound monstrosity up the hill. Fortunately, I'm an actual cyclist - if I were one of the handicapped or elderly folks they are marketing these bikes to I would have had to abandon the bike on the side of the road.
I'm fascinated. Motor and battery are integrated perfectly into the frame. One of the finest e-bikes in recent years. It is a technical highlight. The future has begun. Thank you for this great video Court.
+Flo Mo Thanks! I covered the Levo Expert as well and that review will come soon, we went through the app too.
great bike i have two and no problem i have about 500 miles of single track on them love it
i have ridden 7 hours on the low setting
I picked one up this week i was wrong this bike is beautiful love it
Nice, glad you're enjoying it! Feel free to chime in with details on what works or doesn't longer term. I'm getting one soon as well, hoping to learn more about the Brose motor system
Where did you get this bike??? I live in Palos verdes about 30min of Los Angeles. I am looking for a dealer in my area.......

Awesome ebike all the way around.
I agree, extremely detailed and purpose built :)
Plastic pedals? Ehm awkward 5500 bucks bike? Otherwise really nice bike.
Just disposable peddels so you can sit and see how bikes feel on the shop floor, even the 8k S works XC race bike have the plastic flats on them.
really nice bike. not sure if it suits Seattle weather though..
+Rahul Sood Are you concerned about how well it would hold up in wet conditions?
+ElectricBikeReview.com not at all, I should have said a Seattle commuter :-). I'm not sure I can commute on something like that. I currently have a haibike Superace, thanks to you, but now I want something for winter as well.

thas a nice bike 😎
With all the advancements added in 2019, I'd be so pissed if I bought this 2018 LEVO! But I guess that's how it works when purchasing anything. 😒
FouseyTube bought this from this shop ahaha
Did he buy another electric bike?! I saw that he got a Stromer ST2 S like this: electricbikereview.com/stromer/st2-s/
He was looking at the bomber? it's an all black sick looking bike that's super fast and i think has off roading capability.
Just wait like 3-5 years these e bikes are still in 1st gen and are like the 1st computers...
