I made the choice to be childfree when i was 11 years old i didn't had a good childhood i am still dealing with my trauma im 33 now i don't regret my choice to me having children is a very important decision that shouldn't be taken lightly
Tia Williams books 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 I met her on Saturday at a book event hosted by Reese’s Book Club Event, and she is so nice. 😊
Omg I love that so much!!
The Four Winds was also my first Kristin Hannah book, and I loved it. I appreciate an intelligent, well-researched writer that also keeps me wanting to see what happens next.
Turns out she’s a former lawyer turned author.
Smart, strong ladies for the win!
Yes yes yes!!
Good morning 🌼
I can relate to your thoughts and feelings about having children. For a portion of my life, I was satisfied with not having children. Fast forward many years later, and my life now is a mom of 3. I love them so much and am so blessed to have them. They are the best people I know( even when they are not on their best behavior). I also know that having children did not determine my happiness and having a fulfilled life. I love how you are aware of your thoughts and feelings, without the pressure of outside expectations .
Thank you for sharing this 🥹🥹 you’re so kind. I’ve definitely been allowing myself to be open to change and I feel like I’ve been changing so much in the best way since turning 30!
I come from a different place. I was blessed to have 3 children. While I love them with all my heart. Truthfully, sometimes I wonder if having kids was the right choice. I think that people go in to having children from a place of what they want without really thinking about what happens after the children are here. It truly is a personal choice. I say all of this to say, do whatever your heart tells you to do. Most importantly, make the decision based on how you want your life to look, not what you see others lifes look like from the outside. My “kids” (lol they’re not kids anymore, they’re almost 35 & 23…sadly I lost my son at the age of 27 😢) are amazing human beings, and I don’t regret having them.
Thank you for being so open and vulnerable 💗💓🫂
Beautiful honesty.
Kristin Hannah is an excellent writer. Her books are so interesting and a great time period read. A really good book of hers, also, is the Nightingale. You can’t go wrong reading her books. Enjoy!
I’m so excited to dive into her books!
With the Ashley Antiontte....you have to start with Moth to a Flame. Ashley is the QUEEEEENNNNN of cliffhangers. You will be lost and confused (maybe) if you start with Butterfly. Even after Moth to a Flame....you have to read the Ethic series before Butterfly. She did not make this easy for anyone 😂
Omg I have read the Butterfly book. I need book #2🤗lol I didn't know she was a popular author.
@NiijiGoddess I don't even read urban romance like that....but this series will have you in a choke hold.
this video was so cozy to watch....I just wanted to tell you that you have become one of my favorite comfort youtubers
This is such a special message 🥹🥹 thank you so much
I love seeing you try books that you wouldn’t usually pick up. I just added The Women by Kristin Hannah to my TBR.
I too judge books by their cover and I know I shouldn’t. And I truly believe that I’ve missed out on great reads because of it. Also, I love Kristian Hanna! I came across her books in the midst of Covid when everything was shut down and we had to get library books via ebooks. I’ve read three of her books The Great Alone, The Winter Garden, and The Four Winds and all are really good. All tugs at your heart stings. Please do read them and tell us how you like them. The great alone does have reference to domestic violence.
I can’t wait to dive into her writing! I’ve heard that her books are so good!
I’m a 30 year old who didn’t want kids when I was younger, and I still don’t. I personally won’t be changing my mind on that but it’s good to stop and reflect every few years because we’re always changing as people. Especially when you hit 30. Children are a big decision, my personal motto is that I’d rather regret not having them, then regret having them.
The love you feel for your child is like 100000% more than the love you feel for a parent or sister 😊 it’s also 100000% more time and effort and work than caring for a sick parent. But I also think most parents have felt the way you have lol I don’t think anyone goes in and is like “yesss I can’t wait to be woken up by someone punching me in the gut or throwing up on me” 😂
The big difference is not having breaks. With a sick parent or even a pet, you get breaks. You can leave and go recharge. You can’t really do that with a kid lol unless you pay for daycare or have great family support. But even then, it’s not constant.
I think having one child isn’t that big of a deal. You can still do things and it’s not that much more money wise. You can take breaks easier because you can switch off with your partner even when out as a family. When you start adding more, it gets more complicated. Obv, there’s more human that need you lol
I just started this video I l just love how close you feel to your audience
Thank you so much 🥹🥹
Thank you for
You comments about history and reading historical fiction. I teach history and live historical fiction but I have found that my brain and heart needed a break. Yes the history is our country is traumatic and people done want to face those facts. So I started reading romances to take myself to a different place and because there’s not a lot of romance in my life right now. 🙏🏾This is why I started following you. One of your videos came across my IG feed and the rest is history! Your upbeat and straight forward reviews are interesting and entertaining. Thanks for making the world smile and read good books!
Kristin Hannah has become one of my favorite authors. She writes historical fiction like she was there. So well written. I loved The Four Winds. The Great Alone is a must read and the Nightingale by Her. Im about to read her new one for book club. Can't wait. She will crush you though, in the best way
So excited to dive in!
Oh My Gosh I love this idea of a Book Day!!! Now I have to do that at least once a month. 😊. I have my little library building up in my office but I really just love going into beautiful libraries and finding new books to read.
Thanks for making library hauls more fun ❤❤
"Keep Your Friends Close"does look good 🤔😁
It does!!
Such a FUN video & am so glad to have found your channel! ❤😊
So glad you did too!
I think you may have to read Moth to a Flame or The Ethic series before Butterfly to learn the backstory … I may be wrong though lol
Moth to a flame was sooooo gooooood
Also just picked up a book by Kristin Hannah (The Nightingale) cause I have heard so many good things about her books
As a 28 year old I can say I’ve never wanted kids even though I’m a kindergarten teacher. I have so much respect for moms. However, I would definitely sit with your decision for a while before making a choice. All the things you listed are momentary like taking care of a sick family member, being a mom is forever. I think that’s definitely something to consider.
Taking care of a sick family memory can be a lifelong journey for a lot of families. My dad was sick for over 10 years but many families have a full and long life of caregiving! Would never make any decision without thinking deeply about it. Just sharing my thoughts as I’m learning and growing! 🤍
Im nerodivergent and with me and my experience, i need quiet and to recharge with doing things for myself. My husband and I got together fast and decided to habe kids fast. I am a mom of 4 10, 9 and twins, girl and boy, 7. My mental health is an ongoing struggle but Im proactive so my kids dont feel like a burden. Its hard and I believe I would have been in a better mental space if I didn't have kids. However, I love them and I wouldn't change a thing. They are compassionate and patient in school.
That pr box is SO sweet! Making me 😢.
I’ve loved all the Kristin Hannah books that I have read so far. This one is still on my TBR list.
Kristin Hannah is my favorite author. Her books feel like a movie that you’re a part of. No other author has made me feel that way. I also love that her books are so uplifting to women, all while not being disparaging to men.
A BOOK DAY what a fabulous idea. I loved this video and hope you do it again soon. I’ve just started reading Just for the Summer by Abby Jimenez and I’m loving it 😀
Omg yay! So glad you love it!
That is the cutest scrunchy I've ever seen😍 lol I'm sorry to keep commenting under the video 🤣
Now i definitely wanna pick up the book, keep your friends close
It looks so good!
I read Four Winds last summer (my first Kristin Hannah book), and it's one of the BEST historical pieces I've read. I learned so much about history in that book. I learned that whyte people in CA ostracized the poorer whyte people coming from the Dust bowl - it blew my mind! I've since fallen in love with Kristin Hannah. I have her book The Women slated for my June TBR.
Love that you picked up butterfly!! But you must read moth to a flame because that’s the introduction to the characters. If you enjoy that then read Ethic 1-6 lol butterfly follows the ethic series.
The Four Winds was my fave of hers until I read The Women. I feel like you should read that first but then again, maybe everything else will seem lackluster if you read that first. The Women is so empowering to women.
I’ve heard the women is so so good!
Watching this video has felt like a fun and full day of all things books. So great!! Thank you, Shawnaci 💟💟💟 Also, I'm in knee deep in Demon's Dream by Elle Kayson, OMG I can't stop reading!!!
You’re so welcome!! & omg yay! So glad you’re loving Elle Kayson’s story! I am too!
I can’t wait to read cross the line I pre-ordered it on Amazon earlier this month.
I love your book vlogs!!! The books that you showed are very interesting. I have two Kristin Hannah books. I heard she is such a great writer. I have so many books that I haven't read yet, but I am going to. I hope that you are having a great Memorial Day!!! Take care, sweetheart ❤❤❤
Thank you again for showing the video you have great books
I feel the same way about some TikTok recommendations books! I have found some of my favorite 5 star reads on TikTok but I have also found some really not good ones that I have dnf a handful of them. I think it’s because majority of popular TikTok books are 90% spice, I’m fine with some spice but I don’t want the characters only thought to be spicy ones. It’s like do they not have any other thoughts about each other😂 but I need emotional development and cute funny scenes before hopping into spicy lol
The Brown sisters books get progressively better to me. Act Your Age, Eve Brown was absolutely my fave of all of them. I would re read that one. I need to go to the bigger Barnes in my area. The closest to me is not giving what I'd like it to give.
Now I’m excited to finish the series! Thanks for sharing!
I loved this video! I like that you also visit public library and not just B&N stores. f you are unsure if a book is good enough to buy but you want to finish a series. borrow it from your public library. The Lynn H. Blackburn book you displayed in B&N is her newest Christian suspense. I’ve enjoyed her other books and series but you can try any author first by checking it out from the public library. I like Christian suspense genre because there is nonstop action and light faith elements there is no gore and no vivid descriptions of murder scenes that will keep me up at night. I recently read Secondary Target by Angela Carlisle and loved the book. Every public library has a request purchase form on their website you can utilize to request a book in any format. I also hate when a book cover is changed due to the book made into a movie, etc. Having children or not having children is such a personal decision but please don’t confuse wanting to help care and/or support an ill loved human or furry child with wanting a child from your own body and/or adopting a newborn or infant. That decision can not be undone once made. If you or your followers want less spice or no spice but still want sizzle in your romance reading check out @closeddoorromance on Instagram. I still read spicy books but as I have gotten older I do want those open door scenes to have a purpose. If you want spice and sizzle I recommend Laura Pavlov who is in Kindle Unlimited. I have also have not enjoyed Elsie Silver because of too much spice but like I said check her out books out of the public library or Kindle Unlimited.
Hey, love!!! I'm blessed to have three children, all grown and out of the house. I love them so much. I agree with you that being a mother is a very selfless job. To be a good mom, you must put your babies first. It can no longer be about you. Just pray about it and let God lead you. I think you'll be a great mom one day if you decide to have children. The butterfly series by Ashley Antionette is really good, but I think you should read the Ethic series first. The character Morgan will be introduced in this series. Take care, love😘
If you like Bridgerton, I highly recommend the Regency romance „Edenbrooke“ by Julianne Donaldson. It's beautifully written and slow-burn. No spice but omg the ROMANCE, the LONGING, the feels😩 *swoon*
Thank you so much for recommending!!
I live in New Jersey-and I just had a book day with my bestie! We went to The Ripped Bodice and Books are Magic in Brooklyn. I bought Only for the Week from The Ripped Bodice on your recommendation! I’m so excited to start it! Side note: I loved Act your Age Eve Brown! You should give it a try!
I have a three year old and it is the best thing I’ve ever done! When I found out I was pregnant, I was so scared and nervous for many of the reasons you mentioned. There are no words to
explain the love you have for a human you create and grow. It’s incredible!! As always though, you have to do what feels right to you ❤
I love that for you 🥹🥹
Kristen Hannah is by favorite author! The Four Winds is an awesome book.
So excited to dive in!
Back again 😂 Wifey is SPICY!!! I read that book like 35 years ago! It was released in 1978 and was the equivalent of a booktok kind of book.
Act your age Eve Brown is so good! I definitely say pick it up!
That book The Four Winds is good i read it in February.
Cross the Line has been on my list for a while! I preordered a while ago. I’m excited to see what you think about it.
I can’t wait to read it!
Omg you’re reading Ashley Antoinette Butterfly series! I have a love hate relationship with the main character but it is truly a great series. Don’t forget to try the Ethic series by her as well.
I just recently read The Women by Kristin Hannah (my first book by her) and absolutely loved it! So much that I’m in the process of buying her backlist.
Oh wow! I love that!
I love Kristin Hannah’s books! Not all of them are historical fiction. My favorite from her is called Magic Hour. It was republished under a new name (in 2018 I think?) called Wild. It’s about a little girl that was found in the woods and nobody can figure out who her family is. She can’t speak, and the main character is a psychiatrist who tries to get through to her. I got my bachelors in speech therapy so I ate that book up! ❤ If I remember correctly, there’s a little bit of romance in it too.
never once did i think taking care of my senior dog was a chore; i would've done anything for her. but man did it break me in every way. sometimes i feel like a part of me is still dealing with that trauma.
Ashley is from my hometown flint!! & she writes books with her husband jaquavis
Love your thoughts on kids. I’m so glad I waited until I was married and in my thirties to have kids 💕 I feel like whatever your decision is, you’re on the right track 🥰.
If you’re looking for other historical fiction recommendations check out Take My Hand and the book of longings
Wait!? I thought that scrunchie was a loofah 🤣
I have read many Kristin Hannah books- The Nightingale (one of three books that made me cry), Four Winds, The Great Alone, all great. Firefly Lane I watched on Netflix, great story.
I’m sending you love❤❤❤
You may want to read Moth to a Flame before Butterfly! Moth to a flame is the first book!
I am very much childfree by choice and never want kids. I’m a preschool teacher and nanny and I’ve learned that while I love kids I don’t want to ever be a parent. I plan to help my friends when they have kids and be the fun aunt and help my friends whenever I can.
And I personally don’t like when people cite regret as a reason to have kids or not have kids. Having kids is a very permanent decision, and it can’t be taken back. I’d much rather regret being childfree than regret having kids and potentially not being a good parent to them. They are humans with feelings and their childhood is their foundation for adulthood and it can be messed up very easily with bad parenting.
I have the utmost respect for parents who do a great job parenting, although in my experience they are a rare find. I had a parent recently rant that she was mad that she had to watch her infant son while our school was closed for the holiday. So please do what’s best for you and ignore the noise, at the end of the day the decision will impact you and your partner the most 💕
I’ve been waiting for Cross the Line to come out for months. Sounds like I’m taking a trip to the bookstore
I think it’s OK if you just have one child if you choose to go down that route. My husband and I waited before we started having children and it was the best decision that we made. But I also make it very clear that I wouldn’t have had children if I didn’t have the husband that I have now. So I feel you both ends ❤
Good morning. I just click the buy button on Keep your friends close. ❤
It looks so so good!
A couple of things…
1) I am 54 and have never regretted not having children, not once. I cherish my role as an aunt.
2) Maybe try historical fiction not set in the US? (not that other places aren’t problematic, too, of course) Historical fiction is probably my favorite genre. I respect the research it takes to get it just right.
P.S. I don’t like when publishers switch books to movie covers either.
Yea I’ve been wanting to get the color purple but I don’t want the movie cover.
Butterfly is a part of a larger series. Urban fiction. You gotta read Moth to A Flame first then the entire Ethic series to understand all the dynamics of Butterfly. Also it’s VERY spicy. It’s one of those series that sucks you in and imprisons you until you finish 🤣😂just a heads up.
Good morning love
Don’t read butterfly if you haven’t read moth to flame and ethic series and then the butterfly series
Ashley Antoinette wrote those series so that they could be read in any order. So you can start with Butterfly, or Ethic, or Moth To A Flame and you won’t feel lost! I read Ethic first personally. Also a lot of her other books include back story of other characters too outside of Ethic.
Sidenote : I still think you'd loooooove Diane Chamberlain. So damn good.
I read wifey way before I should have……quite spicy
🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 No they don't.. Thank you!!!
wifey was a really good book to me.
My doctor suggested a hysterectomy. I was sure I didn't want children. Yeah my mind changed on wanting children as well because of that. *That PR package might have been one of the best ones I've seen. I'd like to read that book
i’ve read the brown sisters trilogy by talia hibbert and eve brown was my fave (i gave it 5 stars). idk if you would luv it, but i think you would at least enjoy it! another book you might enjoy is thank you for sharing by rachel runya katz, i think u may have it already, but if not, i saw it one of the tables at barnes. i feel like maybe once you’re in a better place mentally and not dealing with grief as hard, it would he perfect for you. it was such a great emotional romance!
❤❤❤
Thanks for watching!
In Creedence, they’re not blood related. The “uncle” was a family friend. Oh yeah, she supposedly has relationships w/ all 3 guys. lol I have the book, but haven’t read it yet. 😂
Oo good to know 💀💀
I've read it 😂 she isn't blood related, and has sex with both brothers and the uncle it actually was good especially the ending but it is very spicy
Do you have any recommendations for an 8 to 14-year-old girl? In the past
you've mentioned some of the books that you used to read growing up. I'm looking for some recommendations for my niece. Who is 10 years old and just recently had the big talk at school and watch becoming a young lady video. Middle school can be quite challenging and with all of social media and bullying and body shaming. I just wanted to be able to purchase some books for her that might be inspiring during this difficult time.
Shared a bunch of romance books with no spice on Instagram here: instagram.com/reel/C6wtwbSAPUJ/?igsh=MWYxZncxMGdvejltYw==
Read the The Nightingale
I’ve heard it’s so good!
So I’m trying to figure out how leather and lark is in the store but doesn’t come out until June 4th 🤯 35:07
I had no idea! Can’t believe it’s out so early!
I see that you bought butterfly but that is a long story this is part 2 start with moth to a flame then the epic series then butterfly ❤
I have loved children since middle grade and not in the pervert way. I love watching them grow and hit milestones. I took childcare in high school and loved. I only have 1 daughter and now she's grown and I haven't a few years before I'm 40. I think you would change your mind more if you were around more people with kids and seeing what it's like doing things with your little one. It's nice being kid free but I miss when we would do things more together without her being picky what we do.
Eve Brown was my favorite of the series ☺️ I think she's an autistic character if I'm remembering correctly.
Ms. Shawnaci, I'm going to write this with as much compassion as I can. Do not have children because you are grieving.. Do not have children to have someone take care of you in your later years. Plan for these things now. Give yourself time to properly grieve and then revisit the conversation when it's been a year or two. Also think about how a child (children) will change the dynamic between Brady and you. If you guys are thriving, happy, loving, and can sustain what you have with just the two of you; then add in the cost of a child's emotional, physical, physiological needs into the mix. Can you two handle that? Trust me, I'm not discouraging you from wanting to become a mother; but I do want to guide you into the best option for yourself. If I've gone too far; I sincerely apologize. I'm more distraught over the remake of Mrs. Doubtfire (boo)
Sahwnttasmth you love you too love books 📖📚 gat gar see ❤
Have you ever thought to donate to your subscribers? Some of your subscribers may love the opportunity to read those books you donate or even a give away- I know I’d love to get on the list (lol 🤭) as you know books can be expensive. Just a thought. Since watching your videos I’ve began to read - getting back to what I loved many years ago. Kennedy Ryan is what I’m currently reading. You’re my motivation 📚❤ to read more and reading diverse. Thanks, 🙏🏽😊
Bad decision not giving the Edens (Deveney Perry) a try
I might have to go back and grab it!
@@ShawnaciSchroeder it's a 6 book series. Christmas in Quincy is a short novella that starts it off. Might still be free on Kindle. Nothing to lose.
I hate when they change the cover to the movie cover
I hate movie covers with a passion!
Please don’t read butterfly until you read at least the Ethic series. Butterfly comes after Ethic. Moth to a flame is actually the start to that world. Ethic is a true book boyfriend lol. I never comment on people videos you got me out my zone 😂
Thank you for letting me know! I had no idea!
