  • Check out me feeding all of my northern blue tongue skinks! I have been keeping and breeding northern blue tongues for twenty-five years and this is my preferred method of feeding.
    I also talk a little bit about future videos of blue tongues on the channel.

    Very similar to what we do with our collection here in Aus. Dog food for all, calcium with D3 and some try food on offer in between wet feeds.

    What do these guys eat in the wild? I just assumed they ate bugs like most lizards lol. I've been saying for a while I should get into lizards that don't eat bugs. My hubby has found a few dubias around the house and is NOT happy! This definitely gives these guys an edge in my opinion. Beautiful animals, as always! Thanks for sharing!

      They would eat pretty much anything. Bugs, snails, small animals, fruit, carrion. Dog food is such a great fit for them as omnivores.

    We got my daughters bts from you last year, and we’re super excited to see them on your channel. What hides are you using?

    • @LivingArtbyFrankPayne
      @LivingArtbyFrankPayne  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are stackable storage containers I purchased form Home Depot. When flipped upside they make great hides and the animals also will crawl on top of them to bask or just for exercise. They are also very economical at only $4 each.

    What a beautiful big girl! Wow, my girl ( I think) is about 18 months and she is 19" inches, I guess that's pretty average? At what age will they reach full size? Thank you so much , can't wait to see more videos on northerns

      In my experience they are still growing until about three years.

    Is the bedding bad for them if it sticks to the food? It’s aspen…? Just curious since i was considering using it myself.

    Can I feed dry dog food, instead of wet dog food?

    • @LivingArtbyFrankPayne
      @LivingArtbyFrankPayne  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can. I’ve done it before but didn’t like the results. The lizards drink much more water and their poops are much messier.

    How can I encourage my skink to eat

    • @LivingArtbyFrankPayne
      @LivingArtbyFrankPayne  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A healthy skink should eat without issue on its own. Are you dealing with a wild caught species or captive bred? Wild caught Indonesian or New Guinea animals often have a host of health issues which may manifest as lack of appetite.

    Do you ever mix in vegetables with the cat/dog food?

    • @LivingArtbyFrankPayne
      @LivingArtbyFrankPayne  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Occasionally but not usually. Good dog food has vegetables already part of it.
