(A long ass opinion) I liked the film and i get that the treatment of the disorder was shown like i donno what but i beleive she got closure cuz she finally came to terms with her parent's death, that clip where young sara goes to dad and asks for toffee or something (i don't remember i watched the film 2 months ago) and her dad says he won't return makes her breakdown even more because she realised that sajjad was just a hallucination her mind made up for comfort. As she was alone all her childhood, sajjad became her escape mechanism from her loneliness. Even when sajjad fails to make taj mahal disappear, i remember rinku said something like, "my dad made a mistake and became a disappointment and you're gonna do the same now?" Really shows that sajjad was her way of making her parent's story successfull. Tabhi she also belived that love is chappal se sutai and etc because that's what she saw. Anyway, i like the film a lot, the only thing that was upsetting was the Ranjhana waali maar kutai and self harm type toxicity in love and the representation of the psychology student, otherwise the film was something not everyone would like or understand.

To be fair casting Akshay was plot-related; still creepy but justified. But even Dhanush(38) and Sara(26) have a huge age gap. The movie only works because Dhanush is that good of an actor.

It's because of the trauma of having her parents get burn in front of her she fantasized being loved by the man who is her father but as she got old the similarities with her mother made her think that she was the one being loved by him.. Ha ha ha I really liked this video 😄❤🥰😘 To be honest the casting of Akshay (despite the age difference between him and Sara) made sense due to the plot as he played the role of Rinku's dad. So that is not an issue I feel...
But yeah I think they could have done a way better work with Dhanush's character (as his acting anyway was superb and absolutely splendid as well as flawless) making him more sensitive towards Rinku's disorder and in a way the film could develop a more convincing and humane screenplay, talking about how mental disorders affect a person and how with the support of his/her loved ones, he/she can heal. But the treatment shown in this movie seemed really very jarring. Not just a bit filmy, but at times even very unconvincing and kind of insensitive to Rinku.
Although I really appreciate them for making a movie on issues like mental disorder, the narrative could have been much better is what I feel.
Nevertheless, a great great video Yogi Baba, as usual ❤
but Rinku's mother was also played by Sara and she was in love with Akshay's character, so the casting doesn't make sense if we consider their age difference and think of it as an issue. btw i don't care about the casting or their age difference.

But I think casting Sara as her mother was mainly because they wanted to make the audience less prepared or suspecting about the twist in the story (that actually that Tere Rang song had never happened with Rinku but with her mother). But yes I agree...Akshay with Sara did look a bit off as a couple. But I think in this film the age difference still didn't come out as jarring as many other movies...as here at least in one way Akshay is still somehow the dad of Sara too. So casting here is still a bit more convincing and *relatively* seems more valid. But yes I do agree with your point too.
No, the casting doesn't make sense even in the plot. If Akshay married her mother, then he can't be 30 years older than her considering he was a budding magician

Anyway I decided to treat this as a fairytale , as it was promoted in the market .
NGL though the ending part made me cry hard 🥲.
As for Rinku's disorder , in typical Bollywood fashion , she got cured as fast as light 🤡. But i theorised ( mostly to justify the ending 😂) that Rinku reunited with her true love but her problems were far from over . She didn't get cured but rather realised that she wasn't well and often realisation or acknowledgement of your mental illness acts as a first step forwards . What Rinku had was extreme PTSD ( not a psych major so I won't contemplate further). Nevertheless her backstory was traumatic 🥲 .

She has trauma induced hallucinations and is most probably schizophrenic. These type of mental illness take a lot of time, therapy, medicine and care to be cured and some are also incurable. Honestly, the makers should have handled this sensitive topic of illness carefully. They are spreading misinformation and you and many other people get the wrong idea about illnesses.

It wasn't bogus. Rinku's subconscious mind knew sajjad is not there but she just cannot leave him. When she fell in love with Vishu she herself was not wanting sajjad anymore but just didn’t know what to do. So vishu knew she loved him and so he literally backed her against a wall that she have to choose one. At the end of the film Vishu gets inside the rail station because he doesn't want Rinku to get away. So he gets in there with intention of marrying her and staying with her forever with sajjad or without. We he saw her running towards him he understood that Rinku has chosen him over sajjad.
