I just had the opportunity to try WE on an older trained horse (Lusitano stallion). After three days of first learning to ride with a feather-light contact in the bit correlated with the horse using his hind legs actively and using extremely small body movements, we got to try some of the obstacles. I can tell you that the horse loved it. No pulling, no unhappy horse just a great athlete enjoying his routine. You stop the horse with your seat, not so much the reins. You also gather him with the seat, not by pulling his head. Of course, the horse would have had a much greater time with a better rider than I. (The horse: "What! Are you sure you want to trot here? I can do flying changes, you know". Me: "Sorry, I can't".😅)
There is a very similar horse that comes to some smaller country shows, it’s a barrel horse. Probably the fastest out there but the rider can’t really gat control of her. This horse just reminds me of her, their stride, shirt back and tight headset. This one is much more well trained.
MuscleAndFuss - working equitation is much more than just speed trial or gymkhana games. You have to work cattle, do high level dressage, and work the garrocha.
@@eharragan didn't want to make it sound like it's any better than working equitation! I'm really impressed, I didn't know the discipline. Been watching more videos after this one and I'm absolutely amazed, would love to see it in real life!
I used to watch these videos and think they were sheer perfection, but now that I compete in working equitation, I am like “ there is an error, there is another error” lol. I know the rules differentiate a little bit country to country, but hitting the tail off the bowl and knocking the number down at the gate would both received time penalties Obviously, the riding is still incredible !!! I am a damn good speed rider, but I’m nowhere near doing it one-handed yet !!!
Do horses honestly enjoy this type of performance? I'm a huge horse lover and a novice. When I observe wild horses playing and running free, they don't naturally consider doing many of the movements that horses get trained to do by humans. Why does my instinct tell me that humans enjoy this performance, not the horse. My gut tells me that horses do not naturally enjoy this type of performance. Horses seem fearful and constrained doing unnatural movement. Do horses ever truly enjoy doing this? I'm thinking of what's best for the horse, not the human. 😊💕🐎
Horses get many benefits and such, they do also find this fun, as some like to do activities like this, along with jumping, and many others. The horse is usually concentrated, and focused. Wild horses playing usually buck and rear or chase, which they all still do in captivity.
Barbaric Birds Thank you so much for explaining this to me from your personal experience. It makes me smile to know that horses do enjoy performing in this manner. I was thinking that horses must discover an awakening of athletic abilities within themselves and that drives them to learn more. I hope horses derive much benefit from the relationship between horse and rider as well. Thanks, Barbara! 😁🐎💕
I feel like this is the kind of event a horse would enjoy most. There’s a cow event where you have to work cattle, a dressage event which helps them use their body properly, and an obstacle event which is like a more subdued cross country and gets their mind working. This is a very high level competition which you can see with the large bit and riding with one hand, and for a horse to get this advanced, they really have to love what they’re doing or they wouldn’t try as hard.
Lucia King. Thank you for your detailed explanation, which is very exciting to me! It's fantastic to see these exceptional, brilliant horses and riders be challenged in all the athletic and intelligent ways you describe. Horses must discover new gifts and abilities they didn't know they had by being challenged in this extraordinary way! This brings horses to a much greater level so they must love it because they want to perform well! I truly admire these inspiring horses and riders. Thanks, Lucia! 😁💕🐎

My horse in a western pleasure trail course: *this video*
Was he riding a polo pony?
It's a lusitano
Love Horse .🐴🦄🌈🐎🏇🎁🎠✅✅✅✅✅
No me carga el video
Tengo datos moviles y 5 barritas de wifi
what type of saddle is he using? what's the horse breed?
Bene Sapiat! The breed is Lusitano
The saddle is from Deuber&Partner El Campo.
Very nice but have you heard of international mounted games though
MuscleAndFuss - working equitation is much more than just speed trial or gymkhana games. You have to work cattle, do high level dressage, and work the garrocha.
@@eharragan didn't want to make it sound like it's any better than working equitation! I'm really impressed, I didn't know the discipline. Been watching more videos after this one and I'm absolutely amazed, would love to see it in real life!
Ich hätt ab der ersten Sekunde die Steigbügel verloren😂
I used to watch these videos and think they were sheer perfection, but now that I compete in working equitation, I am like “ there is an error, there is another error” lol.
I know the rules differentiate a little bit country to country, but hitting the tail off the bowl and knocking the number down at the gate would both received time penalties
Obviously, the riding is still incredible !!!
I am a damn good speed rider, but I’m nowhere near doing it one-handed yet !!!
First songg ?
How can he keep his legs so still??? 🤯🤯
What breed of horse is this, anyone know?
I'd say quarter horse, but i'm not too sure :)
Lusitano!
PRE
Lusitano. 100 percent sure. They are the most common breed for this discipline and this one is a perfect example of that breed
Lusitano. They said it at the beginning :)
Looks like the horse is enjoying the whole thing itself
ReinaShine No problem
this has showjumping, dressage, racing, mounted games, barrel racing (king of) ALL IN INE WHAT THE HECK
“He didn’t pull on the horse’s mouth” he doesn’t need to lmfao, look at that BIT
Yeah, it’s like high level reining, you only use legs and seat and the tinniest hint of rein if you need to
Lucia King oh yeah absolutely, or spanish dressage - some dressage riders could learn a thing or two from this 👀
