I can confirm this. Something similar happened to me earlier this week. Was really tired by the end of class after some hard rounds and tons of cardio for warm ups and rolled with this little guy, let my guard down due to the size difference (I must have almost 60 pounds on the guy) and he got my back with the grapevines. Legit could not get him off, I would power up to turtle with him on my back and he would squash me back down with the grapevines and made me gas out even quicker. This dude was so quiet if this was the first time we sparred, I was not ready for that lmao *Do not measure a Man using only your eyes and ears when inside the world of Grappling.*
I like to cook now. Before i was just going fast. Even though i can get more taps but cooking is pretty fun. I like to hear the umph sounds my partners make 😂
I train at Gracie humaita under jw wright and you guys describe pressure very similarly. Glad to have this channel to reference when I’m not in class it has helped a lot. Thanks chewy
I was taught the mount control as a white belt and it has been one of my primary control methods in the mount 8 years after. I was taught to me as a position that resembles a free fall or a skydiver position.
I developed this in early blue and was told that I had incredible pressure by my professor, who also asked me to start letting others work, too... and suggested saving it for upper belts 😊 Edit: I was embarrassed, not proud.
I need to start working on this more, I’m a purple belt but lately I’ve been trying to find ways to chain my different positions together quickly. But I could definitely spend some time camped out cooking some dudes
These are some great tips, however; the bigger problem is when rolling with a black belt. Getting past their guard to get to side, control, or mount is almost impossible as a white belt
I don't know if I can explain this without showing it. But if you bring your shoulder from under the chin, then up and across. Instead of coming straight across, it is extremely brutal. I was shown this a few months back, and it takes that shoulder pressure to a different level.
Considering the unwritten rule "punch a black belt once and he becomes a brown belt", I am convinced all it takes is 3 good punches to the face. Onto the next question!
I just started like three weeks ago. Im enjoying bjj alot just sucks im a super small guy i only weight 120 so any tips for a smaller guy like me or advice would always be appreciated. Im gonna watch this a few more times and ask the ither guys if i can practice this on them. Been trying to get good at side control and focusing on that. Thank you for the videos. Helps me out a lot as a newbie.
I call it the pressure cooker. Top heavy is a solid game and think about BBQ'ing. You're slow cooking all day ;)
"Shoulder of Justice".... -- LOL - I love that!

Big chest is the best thing i learned for adding pressure in top pinning positions

Please bring back the aggressive phone throw 🤷♂️😂
Love the pressure tips. Can’t wait to try 🤙🤙
Will do!
As Khabib Nurmagomedov used to say if your hands are tired and not the legs after training then you dont train right

Dude, thank you for this. I'm one of the smaller guys in my gym (170ish) and I struggle with maintaining pressure. You da man 🤙
Gotta make the most of that 170 then!
Makes such a big difference.
You are such an inspirational coach chewie, cheers. Great advices, great video.
Appreciate the kinds words brother.

That was so simple, but makes so much sense as to why it's effective. Thanks Chewy!
Chewster! Ty buddy

Always great advice from chewster 🤘

Nuggets of wisdom!
Thanks a lot ! always insane content my friend

Sure, but beating a black belt as a white belt wasn't the focus of the video.
Top pressure is all about finding a way to push with your toes and hips positioning. An old video from the Mendes brother was explaining
I don't know if I can explain this without showing it. But if you bring your shoulder from under the chin, then up and across. Instead of coming straight across, it is extremely brutal. I was shown this a few months back, and it takes that shoulder pressure to a different level.
This was really helpful.
I haven't watched one of your videos in a while. You are looking trim my dude
Thanks bro. Weight is about the same. Just being more disciplined with my diet.
Good advice

“I don’t have my pressure on the mat, I have my pressure on The Matt.”
Upper back muscles. 💪
I'm gonna need the 'turning blue belts into black belts' videos haha
That full mount is spiking my anxiety lol
Dude. You have great content. Simple and concise. I’m too lazy to comment usually, but hats off Young mfs don’t know what the gringo tax is lol
lol. Thanks Ben. Glad you weren't too lazy this time.
Legit
What does flexing your upper back mean?
I presume pushing your chest forward using your back muscles.
@@williambarton5681 thanks that's what I was thinking too
Literally contracting the muscles in your upper back.
@@Chewjitsu thanks bro
Ask a wrestler, this is the same way wrestlers get pins. Toes and chest.
So what you are saying is that I want my weight on the Matt I am grapping with and not the mat I am grappling on?
You got it!
