The magnum has a wild spread when spammed, even in close qaurters. consider pacing your shots with it unless you smell the enemies breath, you'll find it can be suprisingly good when heavily paced.
Also, you can manipulate power weapons spawn cycles by picking up a different weapon right when you run out of ammo. Often times, the weapon will respawn right as it's swapped, and even if it doesn't, it'll likely respawn a few short moments after, and will likely be ready if you walk back to it's spawn point.
