I literally made this recipe and didn't have Shaoxing cooking wine nor the light or dark soy sauce. I used regular soy sauce and let me tell you. It still taste like Chinese take out. Hands down, this recipe is a keeper in our house. Next time, I'll make sure to have the right ingredients.

Hmmm ..I agree with many other commenters, it looks delicious ..a shiny brown glaze will do that. But i made this for dinner and its ....meh. The sauce really doesn't have any distinctive flavor at all ..its just a little salty and a little sweet. It feels like something is missing. Maybe some rice vinegar and more sugar to make it a more "sweet and sour" sauce? I tried it because I like hoisin (same brand as you used) but the hoisin just kind of disappears in the chicken broth (as does the Shaoxing wine). I dunno ..I've tried a lot of your recipes and so far this is the only dud. Don't get me wrong, its not "bad" just meh.

It's almost Biblical how far a chicken breast can stretch, when cut up and stir fried in recipes like this. One or two will feed many chopped into bite sized pieces in chicken fried rice and chicken chow mein too.
