North Dakota has its interesting features, such as the Theodore Roosevelt NP with its rugged landscape and bison herd, the (former) Burning Coal Vein, the Turtle Mountains (only a few hundred feet higher than the surrounding plains, but wooded whereas the plains are not), and the geographic center of North America. I also visited a lignite mine near Beulah. The eastern part of the state is as flat as the Central Valley of California, the High Plains of Texas, and the Delta region of Mississippi, and the soil is even blacker than the Blackland Prairie of Texas. I saw a postcard poking fun at the state (I can't remember if it was in Bottineau or Dickinson) that asked "what are the two best parts of North Dakota?--the eastern and western ends of I-94".

Although no formal resolution of admission was required, when the oversight was discovered in 1953, as Ohio began preparations for celebrating its sesquicentennial, Ohio congressman George H. One thing to add. when the Louisiana purchase came Lewis and Clark spent most of there journey in North Dakota. Also Sakakawea is from there or others call it Sagagawea. So ND was actually has a pretty popular background. And ND was a big part of bonanza farms to get wheat to St. Paul MN back in the day because they needed wheat. Just wanted to give some quick history about ND for people who don’t know much.
And for a time, NDakota was one of two states with two people on US coins. Virginia had Washington and Jefferson ; NoDak had Sacagewa and her son Jean-Baptiste.
Twin Falls is awesome. I discovered this gem on a road trip. That day, I was going from Boise down to the Bonneville Salt Flats, and my GPD took me south by way of Twin Falls. Had no idea what to expect. All of a sudden I am just crossing this incredible bridge over a gorgeous and deep canyon-- with golf courses inside lol. Stuck around for a few hours to check out Shoshone Falls and the bridge and the canyon overlooks before moving on. I wish I had been more aware of it before; I would have scheduled a night's stay there.

Well... that would have required Lincoln and the United States to recognize Virginia and the rest of the Confederacy as an actual country, but they didn’t. They always maintained that the Confederate States were always still part of the Union, thus requiring Virginia to make that vote, which they did not.

Interesting side note. A while back I ran for and was elected Township Supervisor in Carrollton Township Michigan. I had to take the oath of office prior to taking my position on the Township Board. The last part of my oath was "to the best of my ability to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America". I always found that interesting.
I used to live in North Dakota. If you want a review, the weather is very Canadian except it actually gets hot in the summer. It’s very boring, there’s barely any urban areas at all. It’s still a good place to live though, 4.95 out of 5 stars.

I first learned about Dakota when I was a kid. One of the videos we had in our home was of the Disney musical called The One and Only Genuine Original Family Band. I grew to want to visit the Dakota's because of one of the songs in that movie. My mom instilled in me a love of old Disney musicals. I'm in my 40's and I still have not visited either Dakota.

Top 3 wet dreams of all Americans: 1: North Dakota not becoming a State in 2012. 2: Florida ceasing to exist. 3: California drifting off of the mainland and becoming an island.
nah just cede anything south of Sacramento and west of I5 to Mexico keeping a 1000 year lease on our military bases. I told something of that effect to my buddy who grew up in Mexico and he said "nah man they would ruin home" so Southern California even Mexico doesn't want you. Might as well make the state of Jefferson a thing at that point as well. And while we are at it split Oregon and Washington down the crest of the Cascades and rearrange them in to two states running North to South with the western state being something like New Pacifica, and the Eastern State being Liberty. It would do a lot to improve self determination in the Pacific Northwest. Might as well give Hawaii the option to leave as well at that point considering the whole pineapple company coup that went on there at one point so its more than fair to see if they want to split off. As far as Florida goes all we have to do is wait a bit and let climate change do its thing.
Number 3 would be cause for celebration greater than any celebration before. If Arizona and Nevada could have coastline, we could just permanently kick California out of the union and fix everything.
I got a chance to spend a day with my state representative a while back, saw that in the the video and "Wait a second, ive been there, that is the Oregon State Senate chamber" immediately popped in my head out of nowhere. Honestly a beautiful room, especially in person.
A similar thing happened with Ohio and I think some portion of Maine's statehood. The actual order of when all the states actually and technically became states is somewhat different than the "official" order you read in Wikipedia. Shockwave 167 I literally did say “this may be sarcasm”. I understood this could be a wooosh. However, I decided to reply in case someone was actually confused, whether it be the person who wrote this comment, or someone who sees it.

Be written off as “legitimate Virginia”. Idk man civil war and ends to justify means gets messy. World is not black n white but centuries of gray tones making a picture
Well... that would have required Lincoln and the United States to recognize Virginia and the rest of the Confederacy as an actual country, but they didn’t. They always maintained that the Confederate States were always still part of the Union, thus requiring Virginia to make that vote, which they did not.

@Art Anson Did you watch the video? It's covering a potential technicality. Everyone knows North Dakota has been *de facto* a State this whole time
@Art Anson so who asked?
Just give it the ad revenue so it can go get some more energy drink and vape juice.
More people have watched this video than there are people living in North Dakota
ND is actually really important they started the shale oil boom(along with Texas), and ALL the pipelines and rail tracks from Alberta go through ND, so this state is definitely punching above it's weight class.
I'm not sure if it's still true or not, but it was the only state making money for a while, all the others were making more debt

Top 3 wet dreams of all Americans:
1: North Dakota not becoming a State in 2012.
As far as Florida goes all we have to do is wait a bit and let climate change do its thing.
nah..Number 3 is false
Number 3 would be cause for celebration greater than any celebration before. If Arizona and Nevada could have coastline, we could just permanently kick California out of the union and fix everything.

A similar thing happened with Ohio and I think some portion of Maine's statehood. The actual order of when all the states actually and technically became states is somewhat different than the "official" order you read in Wikipedia. All the states are now states on paper, but a few of them have quietly slipped in the door in the just the last 20 years or so. I'm looking at you Ohio.
