FYI : Bhool Bhulaiya is the remake of a 1993 Malayalam movie Manichitrathazhu.
If you see the actress performance in the original movie, it will blow your mind. None of the actresses have been able to match her.
This movie was ahead of it’s time, in that it chose to chose to show mental health as compared to a supernatural storyline. Ghost stories were all the craze then and they could have easily went with the possession plot. I’m sure it went over most peoples head back then. Mental health is only just being talked about in media.
The funny part is the sequel of this movie is around black magic 😭
Think this was done in 1993, 14 years before Bhool Bhulaiya.
The original Malayalam one was way ahead decades ago. Mental health issues were taboo at the time

It was Aptha Mithra in Kannada which made it famous..
It was made it in languages like Tamil, Telugu and Hindi

I am 30 now and I must say even after 15 years this movie gives same epic vibes that I witnessed as a kid back in the day when it in the theatres . This movie is a prime example of how a cult classic should be . Loved your reaction guys keep it up :)
Ok guys , let's just clarify some things . This is a remake of a malayalam movie manichitrathazu (1992) , with malayalam thriller movies there is a common trope of clarifying the mystery towards the END ( classic Hitchcock formula ) so be PATIENT . Everything has a meaning and purpose .This movie is a cult classic and way ahead of it's time , once part 2 is uploaded , i'll point out every single detail for clarification. ( cuz i know there will be a lot to clarify ) 😄

Okk that’s a great pick . If you’re looking for more comedy from Akshay I’ll recommend De Dana Dan . The movie goes very fast with its comedy. More like you r laughing at a scene and you’ll miss out another humor line .
