Danielle Smith is a Canadian columnist, talk radio personality, talk show host, and politician, originally from Calgary. There she attended the University of Calgary, earning her bachelor's degree in English and economics. At this time, Smith became active in federal and provincial conservatism, and became the president of the campus PC Club. She also ran successfully for the board of trustees, and held the position for a year. After college, Smith became a columnist for the Calgary Herald. She would go on to succeed Charles Adler as host of the national current affair talk show, Global Sunday, as well as hosting two radio shows focused on health policy and property rights. In 2008, Smith left the PC party to much scrutiny, and joined the Wildrose Alliance. In the course of a year, across multiple elections, she had seen the party support base quadruple. In 2014, Smith once again joined the Provincial Conservative party, citing new leadership had been able to find common ground, with specific attention on economic standpoints. Due to this controversy, she was unable to win her next election, and opted instead to host the radio talk show CHQR, which she would later leave, along with Twitter, in response to egregious internet trolling. In May 2022, it was announced Smith would run for leadership of the United Conservative Party of Alberta, after the resignation of Jason Kenney. On October 6th, with 53 percent of the vote, she was sworn in as Premier.

Yeah... I used to live in Alberta but currently live in my home province. I'd rather be in Alberta, but frankly Canada is in such a terrible state I'd rather be in America where AT LEAST I could carry pepper spray for self defense which you legally cannot in Canada in terms of potential human threats. Police can, I'm sure, but not civilians. And in America in a small town in a red state, there'd be fewer taxes and cheaper good and less general regulation and more ability to defend one's self in one's own home.
These are values I believe in, deeply, but they are not acceptable in Canada and the leftists of Canada, seemingly, will never stop their attack on Canadian freedom while Canadians are still free enough to own firearms. Fuckin' evil... too damn many Liberal Party (they are not liberal, they are authoritarian and admire dictatorships), and Socialist Party of Canada (NDP) voters in the country for things to go well in the long term. I helped Pierre become leader of his party and I'll very likely vote for him if he doesn't screw up, even though I do still have some degree of preference for PPC, but unless Canadians wake up and give him like 10 years as Harper had, AND if Canadians' don't UTTERLY fuck up again and go from fucking HARPER, and ANGEL of Canadian politics, to the absolute tragedy that is Trudeau... it's just gonna continue to go downhill.
Canada is too damn left-wing, and it is leading us to our downfall. I hope the Overton Window continues its swing away from the progressive left, and leads the world to more right-wing leadership that STRENGTHENS the West instead of weakens it, STRENGTHENS economies instead of weakens them, and thus, improves the general quality of life for all including the poor.
Because this isn't working... all this anti-oil guff, Biden, Trudeau, the EU's migrant crisis which it brought upon itself, Sweden letting their country open up to... VERY different cultures and religions... no. It is failure, pure failure, utter failure, it is causing suffering and making things worse.
Leftism is cancer in today's political climate, blind and empty virtue-signalling suffering, proclaiming that it is good for it helps to save the world.
It will lead to death, and the blood of those dead will be on the hands of people who ticked the box for Democrats and Liberal Party politicians who are not liberal they are leftist, and for NDP socialists and Labour in the UK and I think it's also Labour in Australia... whether knowingly or unknowingly, they are voting for destruction.

As a 72 year old Western born and raised Albertan now retired for a couple of years and now living on Vancouver Island. I appreciate the political views both of you have. The issues Danielle raised are the same issues guys like me had forty years ago with JustInflation Trudeau’s father. I lost everything, our business, finances, career, home everything, due to elitist corrupt politics from eastern Canada. Most of us eventually recovered after Trudeau senior gutted and destroyed the oil and gas industry in Alberta, wanting to then take control of Alberta’s natural resources. Even going to the extent of using taxpayer dollars to start up PetroCan in an attempt to control the industry from eastern Canada and the elitist eastern bank rolled. Now the political “Stain of the Trudeau’s” has resurfaced. Canadas world class ass politician act is using climate warriors to again devastate an industry that has literally helped built the roads, hi ways, infrastructure, hospitals, social welfare system and government we as Canadians enjoy in a democracy. I find JustInflation Trudeau’s reasonings, failed corrupt thinking and dirty divisive politics unacceptable as do many Canadians. Here in bc, even the most ardent NDP voter is discouraged by the likes of its national leader supporting an obviously corrupt prime minister systematically removing basic rights, property rights, bank accounts, what is said, read, and what you can watch on tv and the internet. A government intent on controlling the provinces charter rights by using tax payers dollars to sway voters towards more socialism and dictatorship like ideals. The corrupt STAIN on Canadas politics has now been seen by the world’s leaders and citizens of the world have condemned JustInflation Trudeau as a dictator. I’m very concerned for our youth and their futures if Trudeau is allowed to misinform, misguide and miss appropriate our tax dollars, using our money to influence other countries, dictators he likes, self indulgent use of 6k/night hotels, 12k/month food budgets while the average Canadian does without or in some cases now dumpster dives for groceries. Everything this politician has put his sticky filthy fingers on has gone south. Corrupt liberal politicians who don’t ask voters for their imput, are not allowed to vote on changes to our laws, are dictated to like children, as they know better than you what’s 😊good for you, and trust us we are here to help. Well fellow Canadians, tell that to Canadians who are hurting in a recession that JustInflation Trudeau made all by himself. My hope is that young people in bc will soon come to recognize that eventually socialism ends when there’s no one left to fund it. Eventually someone has to pay the price for elitist liberalization socialism and a dictatorship out of control. It’s time for young Canadians to take back control of their futures, throw socialism to the curb, fight like hell for your democratic rights Canada. Asking you kindly for an old friend of mine !

I’m 77 and lived under old trudeaus corruption and I saw what he was doing to Canada especially his special treatment for Quebec. Those in Ontario that were able to see through his facade were so angry I’m surprised someone didn’t pull off what has happened in the USA. Sadly he was allowed to procreate and we have an even worse situation where he as effectively used the laws of divide and conquer. I have never seen this country so divided and angry before in my life. We are seeing angry mobs invade government offices in the USA and other similar countries and I fear this could happen in Canada if trudea continues on his current path. You can see the fear on the governments stance when tanks are discussed and then claim it’s a joke. This type of quote humour is no joke and needs to be recognized for what it is. It’s called danger signals. Canadians need to wake up and take this seriously. Politicians need to be held accountable for their actions as well as their inactions which in the case of this government would fill Ann encyclopedia. God help us all if this insanity doesn’t stop.

BC is just stupid enough to possibly leave with you, but your petro dollar would destroy their experts, same if you left with everyone west of Quebec. Smith has a good idea, smother the feds, particularly these feds. But Canada is no longer functional. We still have a standard of living better than Europe, if one doesn't mind the arctic weather, but one has to put up with a lot to get less money than most Americans, and no individual rights.

That is exactly the attitude of most Albertans.
I’ve worked in 8 of the provinces and 1 of the territories. Most places I’ve been are welcoming and friendly.
Saskatchewan definitely is the friendliest place in Canada. Hard to believe that a provincial border could make such a difference in the amount of arrogance and self importance.
Travel around the country a bit and see how Canadians are for the most part tolerant of others not from Alberta.

She is the sole catalyst of why Notley was elected in the first place. Don't believe me, then do your own due diligence on her political history. She is the reason why Peter Mansbridge, on CBC, said on the night of the Alberta provincial election, The sky has fallen in Alberta politics tonight', 'The NDP have been elected'! Come May, 2023, it'll be 'Wash rinse repeat'! Just an FYI, I'm a Conservative.

@@Wickedtingzz She has not been elected by the people, she's only been elected by the party. Rachel Notley was elected Premier of Alberta in 2015-2019. There were really only two parties in contention to be elected that year, the Progressive Conservatives and The Wildrose Party. The NDP, under Notley was more like a faint notion of a party. Smith left the PC's and ran for the leadership of the Wildrose Party and won that leadership, only just two weeks prior to the Provincial election, with a marginal lead on the PC's, Smith crosses the floor back to the PC party with several other Wildrose MP's in hopes of winning the election for Prentice, the leader of the PC party. It takes a special kind of person to betray two Political parties in one election and then to think that Albertan's are now going to let her run this Province. I say that's the shining definition of a Self Serving, Turncoat. But hey let the people say their peace at the polls.
