This scene is emotional in many different ways...Taylor finally realizing her mistakes and getting speechless, Jack finally revealing to Chloe how much he valued their friendship...this show was absolutely fantastic.
In 24, Jack is 'The Dark Knight'. He does what's required or what he's asked to do, and then everyone wants to have a problem with it. I always thought the saddest moment of this scene is when Jack looks at the drone and says 'thank you'. He's saying it to Chloe obviously, but he always knew the drone was there. That's why he's able to disappear so easily. Being a dark knight is not fun.
@@827Drew yup, it's like Jack himself says, he is who the politians ask for help to do the dirty work for them while they watch from the hills, while the consequences (like having his family and friends targeted, suffer, or die because he had any attachment to them) are strongest on the dirty work doers and not the politicians on the hills. For as long as Jack kept doing what he knew how to do, people around him would suffer. I have watched 24 countless times to an extent that I studied each and every episode scene by scene. I just can't get enough of it. Jack Bauer is just from another planet. He's so flawless.
Taylor was definitely one of my favorite characters (among others). She was deeply flawed, deeply human. One of the things that made this show so great was how subtle and nuanced the characters were. To the point where you genuinely feel sorry for them and the impossible decision they’re forced to make. It will be a long time before another show as good as 24 comes along.
One of the most tragic characters in the series: she wanted to change things for the better and in the end she was left without a family and as someone who will be remembered as a corrupt president

There are some more: Teri's death, Mason's sacrifice, Jack and Palmer farewell, Buchanan's sacrifice, Tony's tragedy in Season 5 and 7, and of course this one. And the scene of Jack and Chloe farewell in finale of Season 9.
Taylor could've at least issued Jack the pardon before she resigned and then the country could've maybe protected him from the Russians and he wouldn't have had to flee. In London, he wasn't safe and not only were Russians able to attack him at one point, but they were also able to take Chloe hostage to force him to agree to an exchange too. Maybe America would've been no different, but now we'll never know though.

That's bullshit. Live Another Day was a true symbolic end to Jack's journey. This show was always about sacrifice and death, and LAD's finale is exactly about that. Jack always wanted his death to mean something, but he always thought he's gonna die horribly in some ditch with barely anyone remembering him. Instead, his life meant something, him trading himself for Chloe finally made him feel at peace. This is why he smiles in the end, he got the best death he could ever ask for. Has there ever been a hero character that has been burned and lost so many loved ones? Jack Bauer always gets the job done right, yet gets screwed over, tortured, nearly killed, held prisoner by China and Russia. On and on. I am glad he finally breaks totally bad in the final few episodes of Season 8. I love it when Charles Logan sees Jack approaching in the tunnel and craps his drawers. "That's Jack Bauer". It wasn't until Season 9 that Jack really got to show Chloe how much he appreciated her. I half expect that Jack escaped from the Russians and is living an easy life somewhere.
The most emotional moment in the show. Jack finally admitting to Chloe how much he needs her but what makes this so heartbreaking is that he's now personally betrayed her loyalty and she doesn't know whether to believe in his sincerity any more. This scene is like a Visual version of "He loves her and she loves him but it's not that simple" and it's great. He admits how much he really appreciates her friendship but he still can't say what's truly in his heart and it kills him. Chloe was the real reason why Jack came to London. He's become so emotionally depended on her that he doesn't know how or doesn't even want to stop the drone attacks without her. She's the only thing that he cares about at this point. He knows his family is better off without him but he can't function without Chloe. If the Russians hadn't gotten to Chloe, Jack was willing to disappear with her.

Who knew that a few years later, he will be the president himself niceeeee
the best moment in TV history hands down
This is up there with Friends and Breaking Bad As the greatest television finale of all time
Inception Report, Comparing 24 to Friends is the biggest insult I've ever heard in my life! How dare you 👿
John Gormley - 24 Mega Fan all I’m saying is that their two amazing shows with the bets finales on TV. They don’t have much in common besides that
Inception Report, Replace Friends with Seinfeld and I'll accept your point.
John Gormley - 24 Mega Fan never seen Seinfeld sorry, keep in mind I did say Breaking Bad too
Inception Report, Breaking Bad is worthy of watching. Just got triggered when I heard that monstrosity of a series mentioned.
The fact it counted down 😭
Has there ever been a hero character that has been burned and lost so many loved ones?
