See , i think the name comes from the concept of frame of reference. if you imagine yourself siting on a small golf ball which is moving along a liquid medium , fully immersed in it. In that perspective, you'll feel that the ball with you on top of it is stationary and the liquid is passing through you . I think this particular perspective is what called flow past immersed objects. Now i might me totally wrong though. It's just how i made myself understand the meaning of the title..... If someone here knows something more , or if find that I'm absolutely wrong...pls feel free to correct me.
