Three of my old favorites, since you asked Epic Battle Fantasy -Final fantasy, but pure combat. There's like 5 of them but 2 was peak imo. After that they started adding in actual story and such Amorphous+ -you play as a guy with a giant sword killing slimes. There's a surprising amount of depth with your loadout and enemy types and such Mike Shadow: I Paid for it -Beat the shit out of a vending machine with increasingly excessive attacks in revenge for it taking your money
Obligatory comment for the Algorithm! Also I feel like I failed a bit in my childhood because of how few of these games I remember playing. Or it could be the fact that me and my brothers use to kick each other in the head while fighting. Maybe that is it.
Crush the Castle isn't Angry Birds, it's the other way around. CtC came out in April 2009 and then Angry Birds came out later that year in December.

Endless war was pretty good, another one i liked was warfare 1917 and the 1945 version. Other then that, maybe bot arena or black knight.
