    If my dad was still alive and saw this destruction he would say wait...wait...wait...I'll take it down for you if I can have all that lumber. Guaranteed he would disassemble that structure by hand with crow bars, nail puller and hammers 🔨 ...ride off smiling with his two front tires on his old Ford pickup barely touching the road full of cleaned up boards. He didn't believe in waste.
    Back in the late 60s and 70s He built 52 apartments...duplexes and triplexes using used lumber for the framing from the rebuilt railroad boxcars [2x4 & 2x6]
    All the buildings are brick veneer, still standing today and rented. He was a master carpenter. Built many a house for people with his bare hands and basic tools. All still standing...looking good. They don't make em like him anymore. Salute Pops.

      I'm sure your dad would not build a house that permanently smell like TOBACCO. Seeing how that building. Was used to cure TOBACCO BACK IN THE DAY and all the wood smells. Yes it. Still smells Chris said it did.

    • @Sword-Shield
      @Sword-Shield 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@maryschillinger2909 Oh yes he would find a use for those boards. Smelly matters not. Some men he did jobs for needed a outdoor pole barn to cover their equipment so he would have used those boards for the roofing materials...many uses where the smell is irrelevant. I see you know very little about building being a female. If I may let me give you a quick class. In building structures you pour concrete. Concrete needs form boards. Smell dont matter for form boards. Also, concrete form boards can be reused, if you take time to disassemble. The way you keep concrete from sticking to them for easy removal is coat the boards with used motor oil or diesel. Form boards come right off slab, concrete won't stick...ready for next job.
      Use number 2 of a stinky tobacco board...🚧 construction projects home building require bracing. When the walls are going up...you have to make sure of 3 simple things In the chronicles and rule book of building, they are...level...
      plumb and square. In order to accomplish this you will require and need bracing materials. Which are temporary boards, smelly ones will work just fine as they are temporary. I could continue however, there are many ways to use stinky boards in construction. So yes my dad would find plenty and many uses for used lumber and he did. Women should wash clothes...cook meals...wash the dishes and have and raise children and don't question things which they know nothing about like construction, building and stinky tobacco boards. Hope this helps and this class didn't p you off to bad, wasn't my intention if it does. Just a little old school education. ✌ peace and Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 ❤

      Guarantee your dad was born about 1920 area. Grew up through the depression, likely poor like mine, and passed the “save a buck” mentality to his kids. AKA you and me. Sure stuck with me, I always saved every penny. Retired at 55 and still salvage stuff, even though I can afford to buy anything I want new. Never had a mortgage either. Try teaching that mentality to this generation, who’s mentality is “I want the best and I WANT it NOW!

      @Sword-Shield 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tomrogers9467 Yepp...those nails he pulled out of that used lumber...he would beat back straight with his claw hammer. If he could bend them back into good useable shape he would re-use those Old nails. On form boards bracing ect... kept the old used nails seperate from the new nails in old metal empty Chase and Sanborn coffee cans. And yes we drank our homemade ice tea out of old mayonaise...and peanut butter and jelly jars. I forget the brand it was but there was this particular jelly they sold and it was in an actual drinking glass...it was moms favorite Sunday drink ware for after Church Sunday pot roast.👍✌💯% old school.🤣

    I hate leaking roots. I kept a 4’ piece of 128 pair phone trunk line in my truck with the middle all torn up and exposed. If a new guy was digging, I’d wait until he took a break, jump down in the trench and stick both ends into the side of the cut. Wait till he came back, look in the trench and yell “holy crap, look what you cut”.
