- We invite you on an exciting camper trip through the charming region of Podkarpacie, where we visited three extraordinary places: Kamieniec Castle in Odrzykoń, the Chocolate Tasting Room in Korczyna, and the Prządki Nature Reserve.
Kamieniec Castle in Odrzykoń
We began our journey with a tour of Kamieniec Castle, whose history dates back to the 14th century. The first mention of this fortress comes from 1348, when it belonged to King Casimir the Great. The castle was built on a rocky hill at an elevation of 452 meters above sea level, ensuring excellent defensive qualities. In 1396, King Władysław Jagiełło granted the castle to Klemens of Moskorzew, who expanded it, creating the upper castle and the eastern forecourt. Over the centuries, the castle passed through the hands of various noble families, and its tumultuous history inspired Aleksander Fredro to write the comedy “Revenge.” Strolling through the ruins, we admired the preserved Gothic architectural elements and the picturesque views of the surrounding area.
Chocolate Tasting Room in Korczyna
Our next stop was the M.Pelczar Chocolatier Chocolate Tasting Room in Korczyna, run by two-time Polish Confectionery Champion Mirosław Pelczar. This unique spot combines tradition with modernity, offering a wide range of handmade pralines, truffles, and chocolate bars with unique flavors. The interior is styled like an old chocolate factory with steampunk elements, creating a one-of-a-kind atmosphere. You can marvel at Poland’s largest chocolate painting and chocolate clock, and even watch chocolate being made live. For younger visitors, there are plenty of attractions, including a 3D cinema, a robot-shaped photo booth, and small trains transporting chocolate. It’s the perfect place for a sweet, relaxing break for the whole family.
Prządki Nature Reserve
We ended our day with a visit to the Prządki Nature Reserve, one of the most beautiful inanimate nature reserves in the Podkarpackie Province. Established in 1957, the reserve features a group of impressive sandstone rock formations, reaching up to 20 meters in height. These unique formations were created through a long process of erosion and weathering, and their fantastic shapes have given rise to many legends. One such tale tells of three girls turned to stone for spinning yarn on a holy day, lending the reserve its name (Prządki meaning “spinners”). A black hiking trail leads through the reserve, beginning at Kamieniec Castle and running through Czarnorzeki all the way to Sucha Góra. Wandering among these majestic rocks, we truly felt the magic of the place and took in the beauty of Podkarpacie’s nature.
Our camper journey through Podkarpacie provided unforgettable experiences, blending history, culture, and the region’s natural beauty. Each place we visited has its own unique charm, making them all worthy stops on a trip through this part of Poland.
