Wish they would’ve just done the Created To Kill record and finished clean with Barnes. Then parted ways and brought George in, especially reading that they had to rush production with George. Also This art is way better than any of the other covers Vince did. I like Vince Lockes style. It has this underground 90s graphic novel feel (which he did also). Yet still I found Vile, particularly a bit plain. This is more creative and detailed.

Here i can hear where the problems arose. The vocal lines have no connection to what is happening in the music (guitars/bass/drums). As if there are two songs playing independent from each other.
Yes, exactly! Although I've also liked this version for many years, it's NOWHERE NEAR the album version. I don't understand why there are still people who dislike the George Cannibal when you can clearly hear the mega problems in the Chris Vile tracks...
@Azazel Acheron No, actually George did MUCH better than Chris because he DIDN'T "replicate" Chris. That's the entire POINT, on this version Chris is in la la land, off in his own world-whereas George fits in perfectly. George can easily do what Chris does, but Chris can't do what George does. That's why George is still there and Chris is long gone...
If you listen very closely you can tell that Barnes was way off time with this song. Some of the patterns don’t line up with the song at all. Its weird!!
If SFU had solid thrash speed metal type musicians it would definitely be of CC calibre... but what I'll never understand is why did he change is vocal style so much, its so disappointing the way he sounds in sfu. Normally the kind of depth youd hear in a single vocal track of his people get when they harmonize three vocal tracks together to get that demonic posessed sound, Barnes does it naturally. Theres a certain heaviness to his voice.
I think this version is awesome and I don't see what the problem was they said in the documentary that they were unhappy with Chris's vocal patterns ,yet they use the exact same vocal patterns when they re recorded it with corpsegrinder
@@moderusprime basically yes it is the same vocal patterns , in the documentary they said" oh we came to Chris and said you got to do something different about your vocal patterns or something it's just all wrong "but he pretty much did the same patterns with some variations in his tones that's it
It's a matter of taste. Of course the Barnes era is great and it peaked with "The Bleeding". But goddamn, Corpsegrinder was and still is at a Frank from Suffocation level. Maybe Corpsegrinder is a little better, because of the way he delivers the lyrics. Comparing this version to the one with George... I don't know, but it surely sounds less powerful than the final one. We need to take into account that the band, musically, was developing into more technical and intricate patterns. Barnes just couldn't deliver what they needed from him, and he recognises it. Watch the C.C. documentary about the beginning and throughout the years. Barnes was ok with it, he had just released the SFU debut, which is a great record, the it was downhill all the way. To resume, George fitted the sound just like they felt it should be. The massive scream in the beginning of the "official" Devoured by Vermin is insane. But it is like you hear. No studio tricks, anything. George is still a beast, almost 30 years later
I think it's in spite of Barnes' vocals that those albums are better, not because of them. They just had more personality and variety, but if Corpsegrinder was on the vocals I still think they'd be great. I still really like Vile with Corpsegrinders vocals because it has that Barnes era feel to it
