Apparently, when Luke went to Dagobah to meet Yoda, R2-D2 pretended not to have any idea what was going on, perhaps to avoid suspicion as well as to give his old friend Yoda room to do whatever he wanted with Luke. I think R2-D2 may be the only living person who knows that C-3PO was built by Anakin Skywalker. Well, I don’t know if “person” is the right word; you know what I mean.
Darth Bane R2 didn’t pretend anything on Dagobah. Luke simply doesn’t understand what R2 is saying unless he’s reading the translation screen in his X-Wing and that was underwater. Remember Luke saying to him ”If you’re saying ‘coming here was a bad idea’ I’m starting to agree with you.”

Or perhaps he would say something when Luke was leaving Dagobah to take on Darth Vader, or when Luke was going back to Dagobah to ask Yoda a question about Darth Vader that R2 probably knew the answer to. Hard to say if George Lucas even thought about these details.

It's Anakin's voice at the start of the trailer when he says "It's an instinct." That's Force Ghost Anakin. It's Hayden's voice. It's the first thing I noticed. It's so subtle as then it cuts to Finn saying the next few lines. BTW, your family reaction was awesome.

here are a lot of little easter eggs in this trailer one of my favorite is the scene where rey and kylo are in a white room (cloud city? vision?) and she destroys the altar for Vader's helmet. but if you look closely it looks like she's holding a pretty little dagger? kind of reminds me of the dagger of mortis that we see in Star Wars Rebels' episode dealing with the Father, Son and Daughter. i know, it's a long shot, but i've never seen Rey use a dagger before, and it just makes it that more interesting that it's in the same scene with an alter dedicated to Vader's charred helmet. bonus find: look behind C3P0, there's a battle droid from the invasion of Naboo

It's the dagger Ochie used to kill Rey's parents. There's an inscription on the dagger that leads to the Emperor's wayfinder in Endor.
