Thanks for the Video clip! Excuse me for chiming in, I am interested in your thoughts. Have you tried - Rozardner Flying Bird Reality (Sure I saw it on Google)? It is a smashing one of a kind guide for how to get pilot license without the normal expense. Ive heard some great things about it and my close friend Aubrey at very last got excellent results with it.

I’m doing mine part 61. There are always flight instructors around. For those of you looking to become pilots as a career. You can definitely find can find flight schools roughly around:
    Private pilot - 6-10k
    Instrument -5.5k
Commercial - 8-20k (lower end if splitting time, higher if solo time)
    Multi engine 5k
Do this right and you can get cost down to around 30-35k. Much cheaper than 70k like some other flight schools. Do your research but also make sure you find the right fit for training and how you learn.

Cost will always be the biggest road block, here is why.
    Cessna 172 rental = $150/ Hr
    Instructor cost= $50/ Hr
    Fuel cost= $20/ Hr
    Avg flying cost= $220
    Books and Supplies = $500
Ground school cost = $50/ Hr
    FAA medical = $120
FAA requires Min 40 flight hours
Avg time is usually 60 Hours
    Flight/ Ground/ Supplies = $13,000 plus
    FAA examiner fee= $500 Avg
All the above is ONLY to become a Private Pilot.
Keep all this in mind before getting into flying. If you quit half way you've wasted a lot of money and time.

I think the only thing I worry about is situational awareness. I took at Discovery flight several years ago and became concerned when at the end I couldn't seem to find the airfield amongst the several buildings, etc. on the ground, even though the instructor kept telling me where it was. All that, and it was a clear day!
Now I believe with training this can be mollified, but it did give me a nervous moment of pause. The other was something you mentioned about ATC. Their speech is very rapidly delivered and spiced with lots of unfamiliar terms. Again, I think with work this can be dealt with. But it is a cause for concern.

I’m currently 13 years old, and I’m really glad to see videos like this. My dream is to one day fly for a big airline like Delta or American. Many of these fears I have overcome because my dad is a flight instructor and because I have been in planes since I was 4 months old, but this video was very helpful and reassuring.

Another honorable mention is fear of heights...I fly an ultralight and it took many hours to become comfortable. Like many other fears folks have experience and flight time will help. My own fear of heights is still there but it is now part of the thrill of flight.

I found it really encouraging as opposed to other informational videos I've watched to gain more knowlegde about aviation as a career. I love how they make it sound like if you want to get a pilots license you can with out any problem. I wanted to get my license and after returning to the US from Duty in Vietnam, and being turned down for WO school, I joined the Army flying Club...Just as I was about to get my license I was sent to another base (one without a flying club) Over 20 years later I decided I was going to finish.....Had to start from scratch. 9/11 happened and my flying was on hold again. 3 months later and several retraining flights and I was back flying...6 more months and I took the written and passed it and began preparing for my Oral (check ride) as the oral reached 7hrs..I messed up the landing...the examiner said My instructor could take me up an "rake me over the coals and I could try the landing again...by I was tired and opted to try another day. 6 month of snow and Ice I went back but had to get signed off by the instructor to take the test. The meant some more solo time. I was flying gliders, and on my second solo flight the tow pilot crashed and died. The airport blamed me..but the FAA said i did nothing wrong but because I am honest Flight schools don't want me. I was a member of the AOPA, tried to get them to help me get a flight school....the didn't even send me a response to my letter, but they did want me to stay a member and give them money for my membership. And SSA was no help either.
For you veterans don't go running to a flight school with the idea you can get your pilots license and the VA will pay for it. You have to first get your Private License and Instrument rating, the pass a second or 1st class physical...then they will pay if you have entitlements left.

My dad taught me to fly when I was thirteen, passing a pilots licence was a piece of cake. I fly my dad's c182 hand me down. He's now teaching me to fly a dual power plant beech super king. Which is his favorite aircraft. Theres a lot more to learn on a twin, but unbenounced to him, I could fly it. It's a hell of a lot faster than a c182.... it's like you have to stay that much more ahead of the aircraft. But it's a blast ! My father flew the f-4 phantom in the military but never wanted to talk about it. He became a test pilot when I was born so he was always leaving really early in the morning and I didn't see him until late at night. Most of this was a blur, but he would tell me about aircraft engagements where he made an underwear stain out of the enemy. He gave me an undercarriage wheel display from a f-4 phantom that spins around kinda weird for a display. At any rate, I had a real military living experience. Now he's a retired business owner flying his beech.

thx for this nice vid, im planning on starting my training soon, actually almost none of these are my concerns, however at the end of the vid u gave me 1 concern, although i know i have what it takes to become a brilliant pilot, i know deep down i can do it, but from what i hear most of the parts are done in real planes rather than in a simulator, and as u mentioned, instructors build up their hours to become a commercial pilot, this implies instructors are not highly qualified professionals? during the time i learn, its my time to make mistakes, and if my instructor is only a 1st officer level, not a captain level, that worries me.
    further concerns:
1.VFR, im not so comfortable doing visual nav, i have a feeling i d only do hi-performance aircraft with fully instruments operated flights, meaning TCAS, transponder, radar assistance, landing glide path/localizer, auto landing (in an unlikely event of pilot incapacitation) all warnings incl stick shaker stall, proximity etc all functional.
    2. two-men-crew cockpit only, 2 pilots, me and my captain(in my career)/instructor(during training) both complement in the cockpit during take off and landing.
please enlighten me in any way u could, many thanks in adv i d deeply appreciate your advice Nathan.

I am currently in the process of moving to another state (MT from WA) so I am going to continue my flight training there. But I wanted to know because I noticed some students from other flight training programs from tech schools etc.,have received their student cards and have never stepped into a plane?
