Great video! We know all the specs. A simple google search can show you all the details and thanks for not wasting time on that.
You have covered a very important topic. I can relate to this because I'm at this crossroads right now. Been riding twins for the past 6 years. TNT300 and now with a YZF R3. I feel I have reached the limit on the 300 cc twins in context of touring. And hence looking for the next upgrade, an ADV.
Right now I can do max 700 kms in a day, 10-11 hours of riding and speeds cruising between 100-140. I rode the CB5000X and loved it. Performance is close to a 300 than a 600. Correct me if I'm wrong but the CB can also do similar cruising 100-140. But I think it can offer great comfort to do even 800-900 kms in a single day and also with the ADV nature tackle all our bad roads. Another thing I enjoyed is the superior torque on the CB. And the torque is accessible at low RPMs which is great.
Jumping to a 600 will significantly increase my costs... Eg a chain/sprocket assembly for my R3 can be bought from Rolon for 5800 Rs. Same for let's say the Kawasaki 650s is around 16000 Rs. Tyres for my R3 is 10500 Rs Apollo H1 but for a 650 it will be above 20000 Rs. So you are gonna double your running/maintenance costs. What are the costs for the CB500X for such consumables?
The mileage on the test bike was 20 kmpl and I was kinda shocked. Glad you clarified the touring mileage numbers. Maybe the test bike has just run in city and is kinda thrashed I guess.
Your video gave me a lot of confidence to pursue to buy this bike but I still don't have the 7.79 L. I'm in Chennai too and that's the quote I got as well. Does Honda itself provide touring accessories like luggage bags, crash guard etc?? Or do they have a tie up with any brand to give accessories?
    Cheers!! All the best!

Hi Highway to Hil, firstly, Thank you. It can cruise at 135-145 kmph easily without strain on engine. There is little bit of vibrations, but very very minimum. In my view, an upgrade is justifiable if you go for double the power of the motorcycle you have currently. Yes, CB500X is torquier but it pulls linearly in any gear. I was stunned by its handling & balance for an ADV (Example : U-turn @3gear without keeping the foot down). Comfort for 800 kms is great. You only get the normal motorcycling tiredness.
What I read from the forum is most of the people use D.I.D chain and sprocket kit which costs around 7200-8000₹. But, am not sure about Honda pricing on it yet.
Coming to tyres, they are obviously expensive because it should be imported. I'm planning for Pirelli scorpion str rally for the next set. I think it is still 8000-9000 kms far for purchasing it.
Honda doesn't provide any accessories. bikenbiker sourced everything for me. Not sure who rode the Honda like that to give 20 kmpl, but, if you ride properly, it gives a nice mileage.
Glad you liked it. Cheers mate. ♥️

Please do not fiddle with the grade of the engine oil, or else you are in for a major expenditure very soon. There is a high probability that the piston rings will get damaged after a few years. Use the recommended grade of engine oil. I have damaged one of my motorcycles' engine by using a grade of engine oil that was not recommended, so I know from experience.

Underneath its the same. But aesthetics wise and few features wise NX500 is an upgrade and price too is similar to what CB500X was sold at before it got discontinued. Yes if you have the budget of around 7L then its a no brainer. You can sense quality from this bike for sure but you'll have to break the price barrier. At 5.9L ex showroom its expensive for sure.

Hi Nitesh. Both are very different machines. Although the diffence in power output is less, CB500X brings comfort & luxury for touring as it is a parallel twin. That being said, Honda doesn't come with fancy electronics except turn indicators getting switched on during emergency braking. KTM is loaded with electronics, but those electronics can get snappy at sometimes. So, Honda is better in every department on road. I think, one should not compare machines based on power output. The extra cylinder does matter. Trust me, ktm vibrates like anything & Honda is a gem as it offers good quality gear shifts, comfort & all round performance. Have a nice day.

Nice question. There is a small buzz between speeds of 102-105 kmph. Some may like & some may not like. People who like understand that it is twin engine coming into full life at that stage. It feels so good to me. Those who complain just see it as vibrations. There are bear minimum vibrations beyond 125 to the top speed of the bike. So those vibrations are bearable. Hey Bro, For touring the country, you might need a larger petrol tank. Interceptor is not ideal bike. Moreover, for touring, relaibility is important. There is lot of things you might have to look other than power, like comfort, Tank range, services, luggage carrying capacity etc. ADV bikes are best option for touring always.

@@aps250487 True, that's why i didn't comment about 500X. It is expensive. Decision is something you can only make. But, it'll definitely meet your need. Vibrations in 500X is bare minimum. It can cruise at 135-140 all day anyday. But, Interceptor is not the bike you must consider for touring. Tank range of interceptor is 220 kms max. You can push it to 250 kms. But, not advisable.
One important point, RE has service centers, but, it is fit for nothing while doing long journeys. They can maximum try tuning your horn or do oil change. If some major problem occurs, they will say good bye. I had 3 REs before.

The service internal is every 6000 kms. I haven't known anyone in the world who did 50k kms in 2021 model. So, i don't know what maintenance will occur after i cross 50k.
Most of the issues faced in the bike is resolved in the new models. The issues so far I know is rock arm bolt loosening 2014 model (recalls) & coolant leaks after several thousands of kms. Usually this bike is super reliable & as far as I know, there are no mechanical issues.
At 24000 kms, you have to inspect the following items carefully,
      1) Fuel Line
      2) Throttle operation
      3) replace spark plug
      4) valve clearance
      5) Radiator coolant & cooling system
      6) Emission control
Every three years, you have to replace the coolant at any cost
Even at speeds of 140 kmph, the engine is not strained. But, you may feel bare minimum vibrations which you can ignore easily.

      @FullyGeared  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Hi Mohammad. Definitely, pillion adds more responsibility for the rider in the motorcycle. From whatever I heard from my wife, she says that the leg positions were comfortable on cb500x compared to the interceptor i owned earlier. She doesn't complain to get down from the motorcycle too often. But, that being said, the seat is not very comfortable for very long distances. After 120-130 kms, the pillion will have to get down & strech a bit for relaxation as he/she gets tired sooner. I think you can live with it in the end. From the rider's perspective, it is not bad, i would say. You can still cruise easily without your pillion making any complaints. Hope i have answered your question.
