I have a 1980 Caprice Classic station wagon that I bought for $75 in 2003 when I was in high school and it sat from 2004 until last summer when I threw a battery in it and attempted to start it and I can't believe it actually fired up. It has a small hole in the bottom of the gas tank so there wasn't any gas in it and I had to put fresh gas in it but it started and ran on it's own gas tank and fuel pump and the carb wasn't plugged. It was going to be my daily driver back in the day but it wound up getting parked in the back yard for almost 20 years when I got a 1990 Mitsubishi Montero instead and it was a lot better in the snow and didn't smell like dog drool like that Caprice...
Started right up after 20 years with no problems amazing! Chevy never dies. Too bad I had to pay out $800 for mine and I know Caprice can be a nightmare in the snow and ice. I had so many close calls. I probably would have gone with the Mitsubishi too if i planned on saving gas.
@@AcoraWhite it still moved when I put it in gear although I'm sure I had to add a quart of transmission fluid or two. My 95 town car leaks transmission fluid when it sits all summer for the two months it's not winter here but not when it's being driven on a daily basis. I like my old box chevys but I have really come to appreciate the early 90s to early 2000s Ford Panther Platforms (aka crown vic, grand marquis, and town car) with the 4.6 liter/289 cubic inch single overhead cam non VVT engine, dual exhaust, 3:55 gears, 4R70W transmission, heavy duty cooling systems, ice cold air conditioning, antilock disk brakes front and rear, etc etc
@@pantherplatform I always driven those cars in the Grand theft auto game and I see a lot of those on law and order and law enforcement in general. Hope the leak doesn't get too bad hopefully an easy fix.
This might be a 1987 Caprice since it has the key in ignition chime instead of the flatline chime sound that was used in 1986.
That's another reason I think it's not the 86. And the headlights and dash. I think the serial number was removed for whatever reason because it looked like it was tampered with. I guess I will never know lol. Could be a 1990 for all I know.
U don't let it crank long enough
I also didn't spray enough starting fluid lol, in my next video.
Put some new gas in it.
That's a good way and I will have to pump out the old stuff.
