I've got an AP interview on Monday. Your channel is awesome thanks. really appreciate that last piece of advice as well, I have gone from a 2:2 at undergrad to almost a first on MSc Psychology. only got my dissertation left to do to secure a first but i regularly procrastinate and tell myself i'm not good enough. hopefully i will wake up tomorrow feeling better. thanks
Could really relate to this video. I’ve had 2 supervisors as an AP and they are literally polar opposites (sound the same as your situation). I think in some ways I’m glad I went through the more negative one too as it taught me the sort of psychologist I know I definitely don’t want to be! Silver linings and all that 😂 My current supervisor is amazing and puts a lot of effort into my development thank goodness! I think we can also all relate to the feeling of being an imposter, especially when I was relatively new to the role and I’d talk to fellow APs and I’d think “oh my god they they way more than me, what am I doing here, i feel so stupid”. Looking back now it seems crazy as we’re all so different and exposed to completely different situations even though we’re all APs, so of course we’ll be more knowledgable in some areas than others. So happy for you that you got onto the training - so well deserved! Xxxx
Hi Chloe, thanks so much! It’s saddening that you’ve had a similar experience, built it speaks to how rife it is! It helps us value the good supervisors we have!
I can’t emphasise the value this vid has, so many of us are experiencing similar and it’s powerful to be able to bounce off others in shared experience in order to learn and enrich our journeys. [I’ll add for the many WFH and in isolation, not having a physically present team can add to this]
Hi Holly, thanks for the video, would you consider doing a video on masters degrees and what you think you gained from yours and whether/how you think it helps in assistant psychology posts or applying for the Dclinpsy?
Hiya - it depends what job you’re applying for. If you’re applying for a qualified psychologist position, yes because HCPC registration is needed. If you’re applying for an assistant psychologist job, no because HCPC registration is not required. However, you might need a letter from the British Psychological Society (BPS) confirming your psychology degree is appropriate - I’d have a look at the BPS website :)
so needed this, thank you!
Very informative, well-presented and supportive video.thanks
Thank you!
Loved this! Can’t wait for your future videos about experiences of being a trainee!

Tom, thanks for your comment! Best of luck for tomorrow - remember to breathe, smile, and be yourself!
Absolute best of luck for everything!
Great video! I will definitely use these tips in my upcoming AP role :) You’re so inspirational and it’s great to be able to learn from you.
Thanks so much for your lovely words! I’m glad it was helpful!!

Thanks so much Fay! It is a difficult time, and I’m glad (although disappointed and frustrated!) that others share that experience!
Really great thank you for this. I start my first AP role soon and this vid has helped.
Ah thanks! Best of luck!!

Yep definitely! Thanks for the idea!!
Thanks for this. I am an international graduate, do I need to send my documents to HCPC for registration before applying for a job in the UK
