Jack is correct. Those old enough to remember the introduction of the salary cap and then the draft will know how except for last week's game nearly every game since 1990 has finished within 6 points or a draw. I'm sure we've had more draws since the salary cap and the draft being introduced because that's exactly what the AFL wants, very close games and no one team dominating the competition. When you win a premiership your salary cap is reduced and what that means is coaching staff are let go, fired and your depth your talent pool gets given away to other teams because you can't afford to pay them and no one works for free. Richmond won 3 premierships so their picks in the draft were taken away, no first round picks. Their coaching staff that they spent so much money and effort building up now coaches Collingwood and Carlton and Sun's. The squad of players were given to the Sun's to help build them up and now you have a once strong club with its hands tied and it's feet cut off with no money for a quick fix. But unlike Richmond, Geelong, Collingwood and Sydney haven't been winning every year so they don't get tapped as bad. So there lies the secret, be successful but not too successful or at least not every year.
Hindsight is 20/20 but Richmond should've traded Dusty to a contender, to get some young players and/or picks in, even if they had to pay a portion of his salary.
We are forgetting how bad their injuries are though. Look at how much more competitive west coast are this year with players back. 16 injuries isnt sustainable, most of their good young players are injured too. Kinda uncontrollable
Jack can't believe how Sydney have stayed at the top. C'mon Jack, they have had unfair access to academy players at times when they shouldn't have had. Draft changes need to happen because they got these players, who were projected as high picks, far too cheaply.
@@alexmasovic6749 they got academy players that were projected to be top picks thru a flawed points system, when they were high on the ladder and access to those players should not have been given. It goes against the entire equalisation philosophy. The points system will get adjusted. Just as they were losing their premiership stars like Jack, Kennedy, Grundy, etc they got access to top picks.

That doesn't account for Dusty being so bad now tho. He hasn't shown any signs of being even a half decent player atm
Life is just catching up with Ben Cousins junior. All that partying takes its toll.

Awesome observation on a man's appearance. Good job, you are so funny and perfect yourself.

Please take Brereton off any future Geelong games. He was a joke tonight. Tell him to get over the '89 grand final. He is pathetic.
goodbye dusty hello to harley reid (as the new dusty)
If Harley Reid's the new dusty will take him another 5-6 years to come good like it took dusty.

Dusty at The Suns next 2 years
Why though? Dusty is past it. Would be a waste of time for both parties.
@@DesyncGaming. He's over playing at Richmond with a bunch of Mugs. He will be at the Suns next year with Dimma.💯%

thats really not true, every team has the opportunity to train young players, can't punish the swans for being the best
