Those strings sound like some very old D'Addario EXL165 Roundwounds.
Yeah they were - but also a lot of the character was from that prototype Quarter-pounder pickup. I’ve never heard/played one quite like it before or since
Just got my 1998 CIJ fender precision. Lefty though! This video helped a lot the decision making 😊
