When Everything You Have is Not Enough... Trying to Race the Worlds Best at the Tennessee Knock Out

- Come along for a weekend at the Trials Training Center for the Tennessee Knockout! The race was both a success and failure for me. The success was riding in the final since that was the goal. The fail was my fitness. That is nothing new but it just doesn’t seem to be getting any better. Some of this footage is a bit embarrassing since you can see how tired I am. It’s frustrating knowing you can ride better but just can’t physically do anything right. Thanks to everyone who sent me phone clips to add to this! Hannah wasn’t able to get much of the main and I didn’t wear a camera.

Pat, you've done virtually no enduro training this season at all and you've still done quite well, if you put your full focus on Hard Enduro you would be a title contender I have no doubt.
Awesome effort in any case Pat. Just goes to show that no matter how fit you are, the top riders are just so much better prepared for it. For mere mortals like myself your ability is superhuman - Mario, Mani, Graham, etc... they are at God level!

That was an absolute pleasure to watch Pat! You’ve done exceedingly well given that this style of riding isn’t the norm for you. Being able to compete in the same class as the Pro riders, let alone be COMPETITIVE with them says everything - bloody well done mate! 👏 👏 👏

Pat, incredible video and outstanding ride. I would say a huge improvement over last year. Just keep at it, man. All these guys came up from being "relatively mediocre" to superstars...in some cases it seemed almost over night. Surely fitness is a huge component, but so is patience and timing. Not making the mistake in the first place so you only have to do it once. So easy for me to say from the sidelines, but man your skills are amazing. You got this, just keep at it!!! Can't wait to see many more!
Thanks! While I feel there was some improvement in my riding, my fitness seems to have gone backwards. Less mistakes and more patience when needed would definitely help but I also notice it riding trials and MTB. Not sure what I have to do to get it back but it’s been frustrating for a while now.

You did great Pat!!! You definitely don't lack any skills! It sounded like it was just conditioning and a bit of experience in this style of racing. That's way easier to get than trying to build the skill set. Good Ride!
It's crazy that you can not train hard enduro and then battle with the the best in the world at a world championship round!
If you get tired of winning trials championships please dedicate yourself fully to hard enduro! Would love to see you on the podium at one of the HEWC rounds 🤘🤘
I know you enjoy all the rest fan things you do in life. It shows on your videos. You undoubtedly have the skill and the fitness. I guess if you were to concentrate more on Hard Enduro, you would give these guys a run for there money

Thanks! It is very impressive what those guys can do. The shot where Tystan laps me and looks like he just cruising while I almost collapse off of a small log drop since I was so exhausted was a great reminder!
