I saw 40% of people who have pre paid electricity have bypassed the system in ekurhuleni, that's not to mention the informal areas who are also connected illegally. So it seems at least in ekurhuleni only 25% of people are paying. How much worse will this increase make this situation?
WT ACTUAL F?!?!?!! What are they smoking? How are ordinary South Africans supposed to foot this bill? The economy isn’t growing, unemployment is at horrifyingly high levels? Who is working to pay these rates?
Please note that each increase is made upon the previous increases. So going for 40% now means that the next one which may be lower percentage-wise remains high because the 40% has already been applied. This is unsustainable not only for South Africans but for any company that may want to invest in South Africa. Their costs will also be higher. This is a downward spiral. Less jobs, less income, more expenditure. It's been like this for at least a decade. When is it going to stop? When we are all living in tents in the dark? Except, of course, for the bloated government labour force.
This is Going to cause Circular inflation of Electricity costs in the long run, anybody that can Ballance a Book and is in the Middle class can understand that just Buying solar Once off will save you in the Long run= Less demand from smalll and Private Businesses and Houshoulds for Eskom electricity, they'll have to increase rates overtime from the loss of demand to cover operation costs to keep up With capaciy, Because The Infrustrcuture must remain Maintained Regardless wether the demand is there or not.

If the useless Eskom could fix the collections from Municipalities, the people would not have to pay for their uselessness.
To be fair the Municipalities are supposed to pay over what they collect and bill for its often stolen by the AnC cancer Municipalities
