      just so you know, around the 12 minutes mark you mentioned the plaid costing 139.990 when the price on screen was 7k cheaper. not sure if intentional, but thought it was worth a heads up. thanks for posting

      Ryan you got the recall wrong. Tesla is accepting the recall, where people can bring their car in to have their memory upgraded from 8gb to 64 gb to fix the issue for free. Tesla however is now using the opportunity to upgrade these older models for an optional $1,500 MCU upgrade.
      Please do better research

      Great video, but just a note, I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that the cause of the recall will be fixed for free, and then when customers have their car in, anyway, they have the 'option' to grab an update that /buffs the performance and specs of the display and things, for the 1500 USD.. By no means am I an official source of info, but that's just what I read elsewhere

      The problem is the content, He needs to do more research on the recall because they did issue a recall for the part in the screen that is failing. Also he said "someone" instead of gali from Hyperchange. Does he not know who Gali is? My advice to him would be to watch Tesla Daily before posting videos with false information.

      @William Arrington I don't see much of that(other than navigation) happening simply because you're gonna need an input anyways, ie screen. Also don't value smartphone patents much, they come and go and never materialise, TV industry is much more on the cutting edge(it's easier to experiment here since they only have to work on one thing, the screen), transparent TVs actually are a thing already

    The leaked email when they announced the shutdown of model S and X lines had the word refresh in it. That's when I knew an S and X refresh was coming. Elon loves his Easter Eggs.

      Yes but the only thing being upgraded is the chip that runs the screen software, since that's what was having issues.

      The recall gives you no new features and is not a mcu2 upgrade. When spending 1500, you get a MCU2 upgrade.

    03.33 Is there any effect to vehicle dynamics according to the location of the break calipers? If you mount it front to the center point of the break disk, it tries to go towards the ground as soon as break ON and vice versa. If mounted rear to the center point of the break disk, it tries to go upwards with the disk lifting the shock absorber with entire vehicle lowering the tire friction. Any explanation.

    Could someone please clarify something for me? Flash drives generally use wear leveling, and monitor the number of writes done in each of many sections. So why is this an issue in Teslas? Why would anyone run out of writes without plenty of warning?

    Horizontal screen makes a lot more sense as it's in line with eyesight. Vertical screens seem dangerous when people need to look down when driving.

      Kind of depends on how it's implemented.
      the vertical screen on the S is split up a bit so that stuff like HVAC and audio is more near the bottom and maps and stuff is up near the top , also things you look at all the time like your speed are right in front of you and you can put the navigation there too as well as audio information.
      If anything I find the horizontal screen in the 3 and Y to be more distracting. You're looking much farther to the right for things you access a lot with that layout. Especially the Nav , A glance downward seems safer to me than a glance to the right. It's one of the things I really dislike with the 3 and the Y the interior dash design kind of sucks. Much prefer the design on the S and X

    I think that white model S convertible looks absolutely gorgeous!! I love the accents! It helps the interior not feel so bland so to speak.

    Seems like 4680 would be first on S/X as you say to get experience. As shown by MCU memory recall, its better to have to recall 150,000 cars than 1.5 million cars. As Tesla production ramps, its more and more important to get things right before shipping high volume or else will be overwhelmed by recall work/cost.

    10:00 Agree 100% - I was thinking this myself from the time the S/X line shutdown. Where were all those batteries on the beta production line going? It seems like the low volume S/X are the perfect rollout platform.

    Great video.
    Without a doubt a refresh to premium is needed. Even with all the money the near double price for an S over a Y is hard to justify.
    I loved the old nose style but love some of these mock-ups as well.

    You think you want air suspension until you have to do maintenance on them. All 3 of my Mercedes SUVs air suspension systems took a shit. They became completely inoperable until I dropped a boatload of money to fix. I would rather have standard suspension and just upgrade to aftermarket

    FYI the model s and x do not have a heads-up display. What they have is a binnacle display, directly behind the steering wheel.

    I believe those are called dashboard instrument cluster, not a heads-up display. Heads-up displays are projected on the windshield.

    Thanks Ryan. I thought you upgraded your model Y with an aftermarket air-suspension? That was my plan too. My model Y is supposed to be delivered within 4-6 weeks. Maybe your "soon" means within 4 weeks? I am considering cancelling my order and re-ordering with the factory air-suspension, if I knew when the option was available. I also have high interest in the non-piano-black consul upgrade.

    from tesla daily, i think they are recalling and changing the memory, just to make the memory sufficient to work. but then give you a chance to upgrade further to the $1500 that has more features

      About a week ago, I Tesla customer has confirmed that the Model Y has a heated steering wheel. Now all Model Y trims have full premium interior, so I am expecting a updated with heated steering wheel soon. Don’t know about the Model 3 yet

    There is no head-up (singular, we only have one head) display on current S and X .... the driver's/steering-wheel display is not a HUD, you look down to see it. A HUD would show where you are looking through the windscreen.

    I purchased a 2020 Model S LR+ in June 2020. Everything (mostly) were fine with only 2 mobile service calls, but since late December 2020 and now in January 2021, I have been experiencing black-out of both screens which lasts around 5 minutes to 15 minutes or so. Once on a freeway(!!!) and another in Supercharger station at 11PM... Also, too many Phantom Brakings!!! maybe 1 in 2 tries. Anyone else have had blackouts and PBs???

    IMHO, I like the vertical display in the Model S. The way it is molded into the dash design is what makes it so nice and alluring. I like the horizontal display too, but not the way it’s just propped up on the dash; I understand why they did it for the 3 and the Y because those cars were designed to be simple and minimalistic; I am not sure that design is right for a premium car like the Model S. Now if they go with a horizontal display but mold it into the design in a way that flows nicely with the front cabin design, then that would be pretty sweet! Again, just my opinion.

    I don't like the landscape screen. I think the portrait screen looks lot more easy to use for the driver. Having to reach across a screen seems dangerous

They have 0 character, especially on the inside. They are too... bleak it is hard to explain. Well interesting design doesn't need to be polarizing (BMW i3, looking at you).

    I hope Tesla will come with some kind of adjustable suspension for the model 3 and Y to make it a more smoother ride. Audi & VW have Dynamic Chassis Control that works great. You can choose sport - or comfort mode even while you are driving.

    The email to SX employees over Christmas clearly said enjoy time with your families to Refresh. I think we will hear mire at earnings call on Wednesday. Elon said years ago the SX would never receive 2170 cells. So the new cells with a new body are an obvious choice. I could be wrong. But we will have to waits few more days.

    Consider that maybe the suspension icon has been added because the MS&X will post-refresh have the same screen and software as the M3&Y. This simplifies things and reduces cost. I think there is a higher chance of this than adding a more costly option to the M3&Y. Tesla is trying to REDUCE the price of their cars, not increase it.

    UI redesign effort is a poor excuse for switching to a horizontal screen. Most tablet/phone apps can dynamically rearrange themselves for current screen orientation, and the effort needed by the coder is very low. Personally, I'd like the screen mount on all models to offer a swivel, so everyone can have the orientation they prefer.

      @@joyner4797 Those were hydraulic and way better than air :) Mercedes had hydraulic too until something 2003ish when they switched to airsuspension as option. Notorious ABC suspension on a merc, it is exceptionally smooth. ANd prone to break and cost is ... humongous to repair :D

      @@alanmay7929 - many components on Tesla's are expensive repairs but factory warranty gives us piece of mind. Ive yet experienced any problems with the air suspension. The ability to raise and lower the car is actually quite underrated.

    Testing new batteries like a gap stop towards scaling, refresh exterior and interior..

    i'm assuming you have the performance model Y hence the stiff suspension. you could try swapping rims and getting smaller ones with more tire. many petrol powered competitors have adaptive suspension which can be set to a comfort mode vs. sport mode which would help, though it isn't an air suspension that is height adjustable, it's better for performance, handling and ride comfort. I believe S and X air suspension also can be adjusted for damping as well.

    Rob Maurer from Tesla Daily thought the lowering to 1500 to be a great business strategy.
    I tend to agree since you're getting actual additional functionality to your car, and Lowering the price of the upgrade incentivizes people to go for that option instead to be efficient about it. And you still have a choice. People who don't care about those options still get their cars fixed without having to pay the 1500 dollars.

    Trading in my S P100 lease in May. Definitely looking forward to a refresh for the new S or maybe wait for the Plaid. Our 2017 S is really feeling dated now. Please Tesla, updates inside and out are badly needed.

    When you look at ordering a model S, the plaid version is visually independent and has a significantly higher range listed that is coming soon. My bets are that's the new structural battery pack version. Very exciting!

    I wonder how people expect extensive changes in interior like the 3/Y display are going to be just accepted with people that ordered a different car, ie the one on the Tesla web site when they ordered... I think it's more likely with smaller changes and an internal tech refresh for this reason.

    Looks like a Roaster-based S or really just Roadster will start production and S/X will be discontinued. Why keep them around so expensive? Streamline and fully focus on 3, Y (which replace S/X at this point). Just speculating here.

      potential large range increase, keeping Tesla at the forefront in the range battle with companies like Lucid,
      Faster charging capability on V3 superchargers handing another smack down to range anxiety and ICE vehicles
      Lots of media headlines, and a stock market boost,
      The chance to add a huge profit margin on to the price, say £20k per vehicle, which pays for expansion of 4680 lines and factories to produce model 2
