I have questions. Can we just don't turned heater on for engines getting hotter faster and wait until fan kicks in , then we turned heater on maximum speed later.
Nice job...do you suggest...running...them flushing again...or just drain. Squeeze hoses...drain...put drain plug back...open up heater core for an hour...add more fluid...etc?
There's a sticker on the hood that you should change your coolant based on maintenance reminder code or 10 years whichever comes first then every 5 years after. Too early to change the coolant. Good video anyway
You are right brother. My honda dealership recommended to change for preventive maintenace. So i did myself. My bad i didnt read the sticker before i change the coolant😅
???.. my car is 2017 with 110,000 miles. and I saw reservoir is empty, I not sure the level of coolant in the radiator, ... Question: Can I just add to fill or its better to flush all and put a new one? ....
I have two quick questions: - This looks more like a basic change than an actual flush. - What are your thoughts on doing a proper flush and changing from the Honda OEM coolant to (gasp!) an aftermarket coolant so you can upgrade to a HOAT coolant?
Basically this is only my first try to do the flush. Iam not really a mechanic but i love to do the basic maintenance of my vehicles. I dont know but i might just use honda OEM for my cars😀
@@110897100 Great video! The general issue with upgrading from an IAT or OAT coolant to a HOAT coolant is that you need to fully flush out the IAT or OAT first. While generally speaking HOAT coolants are superior because they last longer, the further issue specific to Honda is that Honda does specify to use their (or at least a comparable) non-silicate non-borate coolant. The issue with the silicates is that they precipitate and act as an abrasive in the coolant system. In an iron engine they're supposed to absorb into the surface layer of the coolant passages and coat the cooling system to prevent corrosion. In an aluminum engine like the Hondas, they don't absorb and begin to collect around rubber bits and edges, consequently causing leakage premature wear. HOAT coolants, while longer lasting, do tend to have at least low amounts of silicate. So aside from needing a full flush to make the change regardless, there's also debate as to whether they are actually superior for the Honda engines' coolant system, or if it's actually better to stick with the not as good but perhaps more fitting Honda coolant, or at least something that fits the description closely enough.

Excellent video, a question if someone can answer me, how do you prevent the antifreeze from filling the reservoir through the small hose while you fill the radiator?
In this case it could be a bad radiator cap.. check also the thermostat and water pump. But first check radiator cap. Or maybe your radiator itself is malfunctioning.
Just uncap the reserve tank and whole it up, with the tube higher then the radiator opening, while pouring/filling the radiator. (defeat the gravity of fluid going into the reserve tank with hose higher then radiator open mouth.😄)
i’m doing it right now, after i started the motor the coolant level went a little down and now is hot, once the fans kick in should i full it again, then close the cap and turn off the engine? thanks for the video.
Thank you.. about 1 and 1/2 container of OEM Honda coolant. Just dont turn the engine off untill the radiator fan kicks in..While filling in coolant try to squeeze radiator host..
Hi Bro, thank you for ur video! Very nice! I have a quick question: after fan turns on I squeeze the hose and air bubble comes out, and fan stops. Then I wait for extra 30 min and notice that fan turns on and off. Is that ok? Does ur fan always on?
Why waiting for 39 minutes when you can raise the rpm to 3,000 RPM to raise tge engine temp faster, 3-5 minutes with do it. *Take note, don't rev a cold engine highr then 4,000 RPM.
Nice going. Exactly what I needed. Why it took 1.5 hours for the fan to turn on? I think you could leave the fan knob in off mode (not turned to blast mode). I am going to change my coolant today.
I did turned to blast mode. I suspect i didnt squeeze the raditor tube while filling up coolant resulting to have air in the tube. I guess thats the reqson why it took a while. The fan finally turned ON after squuezing the radiator hose.
Mine turned on right away..lol..so..I didn't have to wait till fan turned on..I jus let it run to operating temp..then another 5 more owns jus to make sure no overheating..yea with in 1 min of idling my fans turned on
I have a question for u. BTW, thanks for the informative video. My drain plug is on tight. I’ve tried using pliers to turn it, but it’s not moving. Do you know any other tools I can use to get this plug to turn? Thanks
This is the best and most detailed video I’ve seen yet, thank you! May I ask though, as I do not plan on using the method with the extended stationary funnel you used here, would I first fill the radiator to full with new coolant and the reservoir to half way ? Also, while burping out the air, does the radiator cap need to be open? One video mentioned that you have to close the cap while burping the air out, wasn’t sure! Thank you for any advice you can offer
@Bong Xinh - yes! Most likely theres an air in the system. You can try one more time. Remove the radiador cap and turn on engine with Heater on High. Squeeze the rubber hose on the radiator because there could be air in there..You can step the gas with 3,000rpm also. I’ve waited 1 1/2 hours before the fan kicked in on mine
